This restaurant is located in the middle of Cloves Lakes Park. At night it is beautiful because of the lighting and the view of the lake. I came here for a Latin event and the area where it was located had a beautiful view of the lake. Once I sat next to my friends, the waitress came to me right away with the menu. My friend order a drink and I order a beer. I would of loved the beer to be colder but I wasn't complaining.
The menu had a lot of vegetarian plates. But the trick that vegans do when we see this is to kindly ask them to minus the dairy products. Since I wasn't too hungry, I use order "side orders". The sautéed spinach was on point. Even my non-vegan friend loved it. I also had sweet potatoes fries which was good. Overall I enjoy my time at this restaurant. I would definitely come back to dine.
Tips and recommendations.
1. They have lots of parking spots. They also have valet parking.
2. By public transportation, you can take the s/62, s/61, s53 and during rush hours take the s/91, s/93, and s/92. Get off by the park and walk into the park. You cant miss it.
Sad, wilted, fried "brunch" buffet of breakfast foods – the only option for Sunday dining? Please.
$26 for a limp line of fewer options than you would find in a free breakfast buffet at a motel? Nope.
The quality of the items served? Lower than hospital food.
The park is pretty but the restaurant is dark and drab inside. The outdoor seating is cute. It might be worth coming here to sit outside and have a cocktail.
As far as coming here for the food: If you were trapped in the park and your only other option is to catch wild animals and eat foliage to survive, you would be better doing that.
Eat elsewhere.
This may have been my first visit to Staten Island, but it definitely won't be my last, thanks to The Stone House. My little brother and I decided to come here for lunch before heading to the Staten Island Children's Museum and we were so glad we did.
While it was a bit of a journey to get here–it's in the middle of Clove Lakes–the little trek was more than worth it. We were seated at a table with these huge velvet armchairs in a sprawling dining room with huge ceilings. It was the perfect setting for lunch by the water.
To start, we split the Wild Mushroom Flatbread, which was cut and served to us individually. A nice touch. The mushrooms were perfectly seasoned and tasted great with the goat cheese and white truffle oil. A great start to the meal.
I then ordered The Stone House Burger, which was delicious. Always a fun of caramelized onions, I was seriously so pleased that the patty was topped with a huge heaping of them. Along with the chipotle aioli, cheddar and crunchy sweet potato fries I substituted my fries for, this burger was a winner. And for only $12 bucks? Yeah I'll be back.
Since they allow you to order items from the dinner menu for lunch, my brother decided to order the Lamb Shank. Not only was there such a generous amount of it (ALL THE MEAT), but it was so tender that it literally came off the bone. Not even sure how he did it, but my little 12-year-old brother ate every single bite of that meaty goodness.
I was kinda bummed at first that I didn't have any room for dessert, but then realized that this gave me a reason to come back soon. Sounds like a great plan to me!
