I really found this place to be a hidden gem of the East Village.
It's one of those places you just happen to find yourself at the end of a weekend night. Every time I've been there, It's always been a good time. Lots of laughs. Good vibes.
They have a huge bar area in the front with a ton of bar space. It's a tight space on a Friday night, but they also have a dining space they open up when it gets busy. During summers, they open up their cute back patio, which makes for the perfect space to sip and drink.
The bar tenders are super friendly, crazy out going, and are very attentive. Note– It's always good to make friends with someone who is really close with one of the bar tenders.
If you do ever wind up here, order their SWEET TEA BOURBON LEMONADE. It's amazing and exceptionally refreshing during these hot summer nights. They also have a $30 crawfish buckets on the weekends. The perfect spot to get a little southern cuisine, but NOTE, the bucket goes fast! So get there early!
I've been meaning to hit Double Wide for awhile. Yelp did an event awhile back here that I missed out on, but it stuck in my head. They serve southern food here with an orientation towards Texas, which is why it caught my eye. The space is smaller than I expected and very dark, but granted I sat in the bar room so maybe the other room is better. Either way the atmosphere was oddly quiet. The tap list here was just ok, which was surprising to me; I had expected more. I got a Chelsea Pumpkin beer which was only $5 because of happy hour.
I got the short rib frito pie, and my friend ordered the Texas queso and chips. The queso and chips was good but not amazing. The cheese did pair decently with the frito pie though. The portion was on the small side and the chili definitely could have "popped" more in terms of flavor, but the meat quality was very good. This scratched my itch for a frito pie but it wasn't a revelation by any means. I'll probably come back here if I want to grab another frito pie but to be honest, I'm not running back. Not bad but not great.
This place is super low key and awesome, I'm obsessed. The brunch food is delicious (sriracha ketchup be lit as hell) and the service is fantastic (thanks, Morgan!) Prices are really reasonable for the neighborhood with literally 0 wait for weekend brunch. Can't wait to come back!
Give this more of a 3.5 than a 3 star.
The place is a bit of a dive bar, not a huge fan of how the seating is done, but it is a nice casual place to hang out to grab some drinks with friends.
Came here for Trivia Night on Thursday night. Beer on tap was $6 here that night.
Nothing too crazy about this place, but the atmosphere is very casual and relatively cheap. Location is a bit out of the way, but it is close to the L train, which is good for me!
Would return!
This place is the best. A banging sweet tea vodka drink, great weekly specials and delicious food. I'm not huge on chicken and waffles but their's hit the spot! Other favorites are the corn dog bites, veggie burger, loaded tots and the grilled cheese. Staff is great too. Overall just a great place whether you're coming in for brunch, to get drunk, or just want to chill at a bar!
A chill and spacious bar with a small backyard. A great place to meet up some friends for decently priced drinks ($8 Jameson).
And if you have a planned get-together, you can call in advance and have them reserve some space for you. The staff was super friendly and accommodating.
And they have tots!
I chose this restaurant for brunch solely because it was close to home and had no line and was not crowded.
It was a little dark from an early Sunday brunch.
I guess the best way to describe it was as a dive brunch. Reasonable prices and chill atmosphere.
Not sure that I will return, but I don't regret having tried it out.
Very solid brunch/breakfast spot. Super straightforward, not flashy, but they deliver on the important stuff. My friend and I both left full and satisfied with our experience.
I got the egg sandwich which came with this amazing spicy BBQ sauce. He got the pulled pork hash and added some chipotle seasoning to it and was in heaven. The grits I got also came with jalapeños. If you like things a little picante, then this is a great place. But you can also get food without too much spice.
Everything was reasonably priced and the service was fantastic. Also the playlist on Saturday was tres magnifique.
