Very friendly staff, good food.
My only complaint is that it is a little bit on the pricier side for what you get.
Beef Kafta Kebab with Rice and Salad is about 18$.
Price aside, the food was quite good and the location is convenient.
Great place. Only one waiter servicing 10 tables and he's pretty fast. The food is ALWAYS Good and you can BYOB, no charge. The unique Bread is something you are not likely to find in other restaurants and it is perfect with the sauce.
Excellent decor and feels like you're no longer in the US, (well at least that's how I feel). I miss this place already just by writing about it, and been here at least 10 times.
Price is fairly high as we're talking about $18 Rice Platters with bread, meat and salad. I would also recommend you try any of the appetizers though the dumplings are great for first time timers
This place is great! Delicious food for dirt cheap. BYOB policy a real joy and they have decent small stems. Great for the wine lover. Service was a bit slow but no big deal, it was a Friday night. Can't believe I never came here before. Will be back with frequency. Loved the music.
My favorite kebabs in the tri-state area. Delicious rice, yummy kebabs. The service is nice and the restaurant is very pretty
Very cozy place with good food that's reasonably priced. I love the BYOB with NO cork fee and they're so nice and accommodating about it. The service is great – friendly but discreet by not coming over too often. Our group dinner was so fun at this place.
I was so pleasantly surprised ! We ducked in here out of the rain, we were not looking for afghan food, we were kinda just looking for a quick pizza. Then, huge thunder and we ducked for cover here in the Afghanistan Kebab House. Can seat maybe 30. We ordered "Dough" a yogurt cucumber based milky drink with mint. Did not care for it, did not complain, but the attentive waiter asked and we told him we weren't fond of it, he took it right away and told us he would not expect us to pay for something that didn't completely delight us. BANG, five stars. If i could give more I would, the food was magnificent. I had spicy fish kebab, and my sister had the lamb. Simple meals, brown basmati rice, a very fresh side salad and a huge jug of the yogurt sauce that most places are stingy with. Nice generous portion, I took home half of my fish. Fish is a sketchy thing to eat day-2, sometimes it just doesn't come back to life in the re-heat process. I believe day-2's meal was perhaps better. AND, enough to share with my husband. The meal for 2 with an appetizer and sodas was under $50. Afghanistan Kebab House is a gem.
It was okay – I've had a lot better for a lot cheaper
For $19 you only get 4 pieces of meat…for that price I expect the meat to be perfectly seasoned and cooked….sadly neither of these were true.
I had the beef, lamb and chicken kabobs – along with pumpkin and potato boolani and sambosa (which is the same thing as a boolani but with ground beef inside) – The Pumpkin Boolani stole the show and if I ever go back, it will only be for that.
You can take a pass on this place
Firstly I'm sad to read that the owners and staff has changed. I did not know anyone there from before. But I will say that the owner was rude in arguing with someone outside with a bike. Quite random but it gave me an uh oh feeling. I don't think he's the type of person I'd want to deal with firsthand.
The rest of the staff, guy and girl, were nice. In fact, my friend accidentally left her credit card on the table. Our server ran outside after us to give it to her.
The food…we ordered the pumpkin boulanee, mantu, kebab combo, and lamb tandoori kebab.
The pumpkin boulanee had no pumpkin flavor. It tasted like onions. Yes, onions. The pumpkin boulanee at Bahar Masala is much better.
The mantu was a dumpling similar to momos. They had good flavor, but not enough real filling though.
The kebabs were good but the kofte lamb would have been better than the tandoori lamb. The chicken was tender and delicious.
My usual go to food here is actually the Kabuli pulao. It was always the best. But given what I know now about the owner change and the downhill turn the restaurant has taken, I'm glad I didn't get it. I might have cried. After all, you can't mess with my Kabuli Pulau. That's sacred!
