  1. Best Bagels has the best flats in town!  They're so big and so good and fill my soul with ultimate happiness.  Try the multigrain or sunflower one, those are my favorites.  They're also known for their veggie cream cheese.  I don't know what they do to make it, but it's the best cream cheese ever.  Service is always friendly, but if you order eggs on your bagel that can take a while.  I sometimes get honey mustard on the side to dip my bagel into, try it.  Though I'm not a fan of their coffee, their flavored options are pretty good.  Try a cappuccino from the machine, it's super sweet but delicious.

There's lots of room to sit and it's in the middle of town so the location is great.  Park in the lot behind the store and enter through the back entrance if there's no parking on Middle Neck Road.

If you walk in close to closing time, they often give you bakery items for free.  They make them fresh every day so anything leftover is a gift!  I used to walk in at 4pm to grab a soda and would walk out with a bag of croissants, cookies, turnovers, etc.

  2. My family and I have been coming here for years and years. We never leave Great Neck without getting a bunch of flagels. The white fish and the sable are also good — though the price is on the higher side of life.

They are attuned to quality and want to help you get in and get out as quickly as possible. I don't necessarily choose to eat in the store because there's always a crowd, but they do manage to pack in a bit of seating given the space.

  3. This place is under the same management/ownership as Bagel Hut, also in GN on Middle Neck Road.

I like this place because it's a lot more spacious and open than most small and cramped bagel places. The menu is gigantic, and posted on giant easy to read boards behind the counters. A lot more options than your typical bagel place; it's a lot more like a deli.

  4. Only got coffee here, but the place was pretty packed.  Lots of bagel selections and plenty of staff to take care of you.

  5. The bagels aren't the best, but they're pretty darn good, and the sandwich selection is worth the visit. These guys pimp classic New York sandwiches. I had a Reuben, it delivered the goods. My daughter had a bagel with plain cream cheese and she mowed it down. My little one had the same. We were all happy campers.

The place is littered with temptations that will make your afternoon picnic memorable and I totally advise eating everything, don't hold back, unless you're stressed about the inability to shave calories from your diet because there are so many yummy dining options in and around the city. I was. In NYC (where we stayed) you can pretty well destroy your belly, and these bagels will plump you, so be cautious. But hey, let's get it on. Yummy stuff.

I was really impressed with one of the employees. She was insanely helpful, even when I returned for a second order. I huffed it from a local park to grab some extra eats and she was so, so helpful, I wanted to knight her. Can we do this? The Brits can. They can just Knight people. Why can't I? I wanted to.

Here's a crown for Best Bagels. Great stuff, guys.

  6. I order bagels from Best Bagels about once a month for church – so usually about 9-10 doz bagels at a time for the past year and a half.

The bagels are of course OUTSTANDING and people stop me to ask where the bagels are from all the time.

The guys here are also AWESOME. They're super nice and usually help me carry my bags of bagels out to my car.

Love the people, love the bagels! Worth driving out of my way for the fresh baked deliciousness!

  7. Long Island bagels are some kind of delicacy. You can't know what I mean unless you've had a bagel anywhere else– for example, Buffalo. Add cream cheese, fish and lemon juice and I can die a happy lady. I like coming here b/c they offer a "lite nova" portion, which is enough to cover an entire bagel (flagel is extra charge/or they won't cover it with the lite portion) and I don't like my bagel top heavy with fish anyway. For $5.45 I am very satisfied. They also have DECAF FLAVORED iced coffee, which is unusual in a bagel place.. and it's very good. Most servers are VERY friendly and just above and beyond, but some of the owners (I think) won't even smile or respond to a "how are you" let alone ask you. You're running a business, use your manners.

There is a decent amount of seating if you want to stay and eat. Parking on the street is a headache, so head to the back lot… no need to pay the lot meter on Sundays.
