I'm too old to admit to "pre-gaming", so instead, I'll admit to having a pre-event wine-tasting. Heh.
My BFF and I were coming back from Smorgasburg to prepare for our evening with Then She Fell. We were discussing the need for a bracing beverage or two, and luckily we were half a block from Blue Angel Wines.
The guy was knowledgable and although the selection wasn't vast (there was only one non-sparkling moscato, and only three reislings), what they did have was of a great quality and the price was pretty decent (especially since I'm used to MD prices…which are generally a smidge lower then NY prices).

Great little wine shop. Always a strong rose showing in the summertime which is much appreciated. The guy who works the day shift and sometimes on the weekend is always incredibly helpful with suggestions, and any new stuff that has come through. My go to spot for Vinho Verde. The prices can be a little high, so I tend to shop around as well to some of the other spots in the neighborhood. But it is super close to my girlfriends place, so hard to beat that.
