  1. Alberto is an excellent Northern Italian restaurant on Metropolitan Avenue. It's an upscale fine dining Italian experience. Alberto's uses the freshest ingredients that separates them from a lot of the other Italian restaurants in Queens. It's not cheap but your paying for quality. God Bless Alberto's

  2. Came here with coworkers for our holiday dinner. This place was able to accommodate 15 people with no issues and with impeccable service. The restaurant itself isn't huge but is comfy.
For appetizers, we had fried calamari, friend scallops, tomatoes with mozzarella, and sautéed asparagus with parmesan. All were very tasty, especially the asparagus. For my entree, I ordered the risotto with seafood. Very good!! They were not stingy with the seafood at all. Another popular entree at the table was the Tre Moschetierri, which had veal, chicken, and filet mignon – everyone loved it.
The desserts, the wine, the cappuccinos, everything was great. The owner came over a few times to make sure we were doing well. The waiter and servers were just great.

No complaints. Can't wait to return for a date night with hubby.

  3. Staff was very friendly and courteous. Italian cuisine is my favorite and I really liked my dish the thin spaghetti with shrimp and light marinara sauce. The sauce was great. For an appetizer we had fresh mozzarella with roasted peppers and fresh tomatoes and the beef carpaccio. Both appetizers were fresh and tasty.

  4. Went today for an early Father's Day dinner. The place was hopping!

The not so good: It gets very loud and it is hard to hear what people are saying. Not a place to grab a quick dinner, expect to spend at least 2 hours here.

Now on to the good. The service was friendly and attentive. The food was very good. It's an authentic northern Italian menu, so don't expect to get things like chicken parmigiana or baked ziti. The starters were wonderful, the Funghi alla Genovese was so flavorful as was the special seafood salad.

On to the entrees; the Parpadelle was homemade with a wonderful tomato sauce. The Cuscinetti di vitello was tender and delicious, as was the Tre Mosshchetteri.

We had to make room for dessert!  After taking our espresso and coffee orders, a dessert tray and cart is brought to the table. Something you don't see often on menus is strawberries with Zabaglione. If you have never had this, you must try it! It is just so so good.

If you want to try some different Italian food, and have some time, try Alberto's!

  5. When it comes to Italian food, I consider myself pretty picky, both with food and customer service. Alberto's surpassed all of my expectations and standards. I loved their customer service, it was their sheer attention to detail that made my dinner all the better and smoother. My date needed a refill on his drink and literally as he's taking the last sip through the straw they come up offering a refill of his coke. The ambbeience was really nice too, the decor they put here really made me feel as if I am in an episode of the Sopranos. We had the Calamari and I had their signature pasta with 3 cheeses, I don't remember what it was called but it was like first on the menu and it melted in my mouth. Highly reccoememnd this restaurant and I am looking forward to returning to try more of their dishes. Thank you Albertos.

  6. When it comes to Northern Italian food, it's very hard to beat Alberto.

Food: ask for the day's specials. We had New Zealand sea bass and yesterday's special pasta. Wow. This is for sophisticated palates! The portions aren't gargantuan but definitely satisfy. Desserts were also amazing. Note that nothing here is cheap, but there are extremely expensive Italian food places in Manhattan that are absolutely disgusting when compared to this establishment.

Service: everyone here has such a good attitude and places so much effort into ensuring that we're comfortably satisfied.

There is a huge selection of wines and other drinks.

    Will definitely be coming back!!!!

    Five stars. Easily.

  7. Alberto is another old school Metropolitan Avenue Forest Hills standby that has withstood the test of time for forty years.

It's also another place we've never visited in our 4 years in the Hills so for a Friday night of Northern Italian, Alberto was the destination.

And I had no idea that the interior had such high ceilings, stained glass and a church pew upon entering. Brick walls add to the feeling of dining in either a church or a wine cellar.

We were immediately greeted by the hostess/co-owner. As their web site states:

"Alberto's offers a welcoming and friendly atmosphere from the moment you walk through the door."

Check! Despite never having frequented Alberto, the gracious hostess made me feel like an old time regular.

Later on during our meal, the other co-owner stopped by as well for general chitchat and an inquiry into how things were going. A host who is not derelict of their duty is noteworthy.

After being seated, we ordered a bottle of sparkling water. Unfortunately, the arrival of menus was a bit delayed so we waited. And waited.

Our waiter had an incredible ability to recite what seemed like an entire menu of specials.

One special was the appetizer of mussels marinara. Split by the two of us, the mussels were on the small side but the sauce was worth dipping the copious amounts of crusty Italian bread into.

For my entree I ordered the Pollo Alla Valdostana, a breast of chicken stuffed
with prosciutto,  mushroom and mozzarella and baked in a dry sherry sauce.

Apparently this dish does not originate from Valdosta, Georgia but rather Val D'Aosta, a Northern Italian region.

What arrived on my plate was a very large circular cheese covered mound of chicken, surrounded by a sherry sauce.

I almost expected the chicken to explode upon cutting as it seemed packed in fairly tightly.

Fortunately, no such explosion occurred, just a reveal of the mushrooms and prosciutto. To be honest, there was much more mushroom than prosciutto and the amount of cheese on the exterior was too much for my taste.

However, I was able to extract some of the cheese and proceed to dip chunks of the chicken into the sherry sauce and enjoy every bite.

The dessert cart arrived and somehow we found room for a chocolate hazelnut tiramisu type creation. Estimated time of destruction by gluttony: less than 5 minutes.

There were many tables of jacket wearing gentleman and dress wearing ladies but our jeans ensconced appearance did not result in any uncomfortable stares. A welcoming attitude is present. It just so happens that many locals must consider Alberto a destination for fine dining celebrations.

A fine dining bill came out to $80 for one appetizer, two entrees, sparkling water and dessert. Entrees are typically in the $20-$25 range.

  8. This restaurant is way overpriced for the neighborhood and I have lived here most of my life.  My boyfriend and I went here because it was one of those nights where we didn't feel like cooking and I hadn't been here a long time.

We each had pasta appetizers, both of which were just OK.  I had one of the fish specials which was nicely cooked.  He had the lamb which was stellar.  I was disappointed that the menu didn't indicate that the dinner came with broccoli rabe which we ordered as a side for the table.  It would have been nice if the waiter mentioned this to us.  It went largely untouched and at $10, a real waste.  They do have a variety of selections of wine by the glass but perhaps too many.  My glass clearly came from a bottle that was open for a while and had begun to turn.

The service was also spotty.  It wasn't clear who the waiter was and we waited more than 10 minutes just to receive menus after we were seated.  None of the various servers came back to ask how our meal was and it took a very long time to get someones attention to request the check.

In all, it may be nice for a special occasion but would good somewhere else for a quick dinner.
