  1. The pastries are ok – maybe i caught them on a bad day (Sunday) right around closing. The mini cannolis were soggy and the french napoleon icing top was too hard to break and the flakey layers were soggy as well. The chocolate tip apricot cookies were great though!

Coming into Aliotta reminded me of the days when I worked at an Angelo's Pasticceria in Bensonhurst where you knew you were getting great quality pastries and cookies. The presentation was very similar and it was very nostalgic for me.

I will definitely be back for those apricot cookies and to give my favorite french napoleon another try. I did like that I could taste the french cream which is very different than that whipped cream tasting crap a lot of other bakeries put in their french napoleons.

I look forward to trying them out again!

  2. I'd rate Aliotta four and a half stars. My family has been coming to this Italian bakery for years for birthdays and holidays. We usually pick up assorted cookies while picking up whole cakes on occasion. I'd recommend anything from the shop. The chunky chocolate chip cookies has been my favorite for many years but you can't go wrong with anything here!

  3. They make amazing cakes, cookies, pastry, pies, and a lot more. Their prices are very fair and the baked goods are always fresh. Very nice counter help and very friendly customer service. Check out the photo's of the specialty cakes, i think they can do any design you can think of.

  4. For over 30 years this has been my Favorite Italian Pastry shop in Brooklyn. They even made our wedding cake. SInce I moved to NC, I had been hearing that the place had gone down hill and that the pastries are stale. I should have known better than to listen to the creep (who will remain nameless so my wife doesn't get upset)  who complains about everything.
So while visiting recently I decided to see for myself.
This place looked, smelled and tasted better than ever!
I was so upset that I stayed away because of bad advice.
I ordered my favorite pastries including Lobster Tails (french creme stuffed sfogliatelle) and a custard filled Spritzle with chocolate icing.
So when this negative creep finished wolfing down a nice big piece of pastry, she asked, with her mouth smattered with powdered sugar, where did you get these, they're great……

  5. Ahhh the great debate in my family: which is better, Aliotta or its Ave N rival.  They both have their strong points, but heres where I draw the line.       Aliotta wins when it comes to pastries, if for no other reason than their much more modern facilities which help keep the goods fresh.  That isn't to say the cookies aren't bad, however, but their rival beats them  decisively there.  Regardless, one of the best bakeries in NY, and one of the reasons that no other borough can hold a candle to Brooklyn bakeries

  6. Went here midweek and the pastries were fresh and delicious. They had a huge selection of goodies. The cakes in the fridge looked beautiful too but we didn't stop in for those so I can't say how they taste. If you're in the area stop in.
