  1. *Must Try: Seafood Udon. Comes with an abundance of different seafood in a very tasty soup broth. (Note: Not spicy.)
*Appetizers: Crispy duck rolls, and Pork Belly buns. Both were good, but if I had to choose one, I'd pick the pork belly buns.
*Skip dessert. The chocolate cake was bland, rice pudding tasted more like oatmeal, and there was nothing special about the flan.
*The bathroom was a bit interesting. Think: airplane bathrooms.

**Upping one a star because the business owner actually takes time to read and respond to all the reviews here. That makes me believe they are really trying to find out what the customers like and don't like and how to make things even better. Good Job!**

  2. The owner is the cutest! Super attentive and sweet staff they have- really nice hole in the wall. All their dishes were great and not too heavy with enough flavor. I had the lamb dish (great and not gamy), Seafood laksa (super flavorful), and a the quail appetizer which I think could've been better.  I would def come back and it is super wallet friendly.

  3. Walked by this place a million times and always thought it was a coffee shop! This place gets packed on a Friday. Came on a whim with the boyfriend and were lucky to grab the last table for 2 before the wait started. The space is small and pretty cramped and they are cash only. We got the ribs, snow pea leaves, duck roll, pork belly ramen and lamb over rice. Again, we over ordered.. The spare ribs are definitely worth ordering again and i really enjoyed my ramen even though it was actually just Shanghai white noodles. The lamb dish was very flavorful as well. Come early to dodge the wait!

  4. This place is beautifully hidden on one of the side streets of Chinatown. The smell of spices and delicious food linger the air as you step in. The seating is a bit tight, but comfortable. The lights are dimmed and casual, welcoming in late night conversations and end-of-the-work week gossip. I came here for the first time with my boyfriend a couple weeks ago and although the wait was quite long (about 30 mins), we were met with fast and friendly service. We had the best seat in the house (the outside table for 2 overlooking the streets)! My boyfriend ordered the rendang chicken and I had the mango curry shrimp. My only complaint about the food is that the mango's weren't exactly ripe, and it actually did not call for a pleasant taste. The only alcohol they serve is bottled beer and wine, but you're here to enjoy the food! My boyfriend thoroughly enjoyed his dish and thought it was one of the better dishes he's had recently. Overall, a great romantic place for Malaysian cuisine in Chinatown!

  5. A small place with a lot of people, it means you must enter. Malaysian-French come together but I saw worldwide eaters. So yes, it's French-Malaysian food here. I found this place thru browsing on the Internet, the skill I do best. My friend and I met here since she was working on her film project close by and I was working on planning nearby (planning to eat). They took my reservation, so happy. When I got there I thank God because this small place took a reservation. Thanks to the sweet girl who took this reservation, I told her I'm Malaysian and would love to try the food here so please don't let me down. When I got there I noticed the sign "Cash Only" so please note this before you start eating. Make sure to tell your date about it too so there will be no excuse! Sorry Apple pay, PayPal, credit card companies, you guys are out of the game. Our table was at the front near the entrance. They opened the door completely because the weather was beautiful. My friend got there right after I sat down. So we sat and chatted for a while. She was amazed by the smell coming from the far away kitchen. It smells pretty mouthwatering. We can't wait to eat but we had to chat to catch up. We ordered 2 appetizers: she had some duck roll? and I had escargot. I would not have ordered escargot from other than a French restaurant but I like snails and the taste of garlic. My mom doesn't know what escargot it but boy oh boy, she makes delicious snails Malaysian style so I knew I would not be disappointed. We liked our apps. Then we moved on with our dinner entrees. I forgot what she ordered but I believe it's curry with chicken. I had Ikan Panggang (trout on a banana leaf). We had water, good for the mind and keep it sober! They copied my mom's recipe! My friend and I enjoyed our meals and I told hubby about this place, soon will be coming here with him.

  6. This was my first time trying Malaysian food and it was very good.  We were a group of four and made reservations as this place is fairly small. I loved the intimate decor and inviting atmosphere, nice background music,  perfect place for a romantic date night.  We decided to try the Rorak salad to start mostly because of the description on the menu saying that it was an acquired taste. I found the taste interesting but not necessarily something I would be craving to have again,  I did really like the contrast of the pineapple with the rojack dressing. We all ordered the seafood Laksa, this comes with shrimp, mussels, salmon, eggplant and perfectly cooked noodles. The broth was amazing, coconut with just a hint of spice.  I'm not normally a soup fan,  if I'm hungry my initial thought would never be I want soup but this soup was so yummy that I wanted to keep eating even though I was stuffed. The portions are very generous and I thought the prices were very reasonable. Just be sure to bring cash.

  7. I have no idea if they take reservations but when we arrived, this place was full and we had to wait about 15mins for a table. This restaurant is very small and could only accommodate a limited number of customers so come early or late or call first.

The food was great. We had the nasi lemak, seafood laksa, chicken satay and chicken kapitan. All were very delicious and can be considered authentic Malaysian with a twist. For example, the Nasi Lemak, a popular dish in Malaysia, came with their version of achar (pickle vegetables) done in a clean uncomplicated way with no peanuts but I liked it a lot. The rendang chicken accompanying the coconut rice was just the right spiciness.

I like this restaurant and would return to try other dishes they ran out like ikan panggang. Four stars because they only take cash and our meal felt hurried as there was a party of three people hovering near us waiting for our table.

  8. I came here because I was really craving some laksa and the pictures looked really good!

Seafood laksa: They only give two pieces of seafood (salmon, mussel, calamari, shrimp) but the flavor of the soup was so good. The seafood was also fresh and tasty, especially the salmon. It's a coconut yellow curry base. It's super flavorful with a hint of sweet. If you are looking for spicy, try the Malacca Laksa with red curry.

Bok choy: The sauteed bok choy with fresh garlic was surprisingly good. They added a sauce on top of it as well.

Calamari: Tender, garlicky, calamari with parsley/shallot/olive oil. They give you a side of bread to dip in the leftover oil!

I really enjoyed my meal here. The only caveat is that it is *CASH ONLY*!
