Bar Pitti

“I'm still dreaming about a lunch at Bar Pitti last September and one of my companions remembers it as the best meal that she had last year.”

“It's tiny and apparently very popular, so definitely make a reservation or try hitting it during off-peak hours.”

“Their one downfall is that their cash only, but they're so good that I can't even hold that against them remotely.”

  1. A true, authentic Italian experience in a cozy, quaint venue.

Food: Fresh homemade pastas and gnocchi, caprese, burrata and more.

I tried the tomato cream, large flat pasta–unbelievably fresh and delicious savory sauce.

This is definitely a must-try if you're in Soho and in the mood for an indulgent Italian meal!

    Things to know: CASH ONLY

  2. All day long I'm thinking about getting busy with a plate of fresh spaghetti topped with shaved truffles. Dreaming of shaved truffles. falling like snow flakes.

I sit down and this is a *cash only* business?? Damn, I'll have the pasta..

Lets get this out of the way, what's being served at Bar Pitti is authentic, fresh pasta. Not from a box. Not from a chain restaurant. It's a buncha people steppin' on grapes and crafting this pasta. It's the real deal. I ordered a fresh burrata plate to start. Rich and creamy, perfecto!

When you walk into Bar Pitti, there is a small bar and its small dining area. Walking to the left is the main dining room. When its springtime, they have table service on the sidewalk which is nice. When it's 25 degree weather and want to eat here, plan ahead because the dining room has limited seating.

The wait staff didn't have any slip ups like the past reviews. I place my spaghetti order and the woman next to me ordered the damn truffles. I can smell the truffles, that's how close the tables are, its intoxicating…….

My pasta plate comes and its pretty sexy. Fresh artichokes and pasta that's cooked perfecto. You can't beat Bar Pitti pasta in respect to price point and authenticity.

Great meal, the wait staff was pretty good so what's the issue? When I walked downstairs to use the mens room, I thought maybe they're having a cesspool problem. I walk in and sure enough, the bathrooms are nasty.

This experience ruined a perfect meal.

  3. Rustic cozy place with authentic Italian vibe. The food was delicious albeit very small portions. The spaghetti with truffles.. Delicious. Loved the veal meatballs and eggplant appetizers. A party of three girls, 3 appetizers and 4 entrees (3 pasta 1 fish) 2 bottles of wine and a tiramisu dessert (which was excellent) the bill came out to $380 including tax. Pretty steep but food was delish. Because portions were tiny was not stuffed.

I would give it higher stars but the waiters were all pretty rude and we felt so rushed. I met two of my girlfriends and wanted to catch up but never felt at ease. Had to tell the waiter constantly "yes, we are leaving soon!!!" And even when we were trying to finish our wine after we paid the bill, they kept coming over asking " do you want anything else?!" … And not in the friendliest tone. We ordered a lot and def spent a lot.. But seemed like they didn't care and just wanted to turn over tables as fast as possible. Food good but probably wouldn't come back for a leisurely or relaxing dinner….

  4. This place was too much fun. Talk about getting a true athletic Italian experience. The staff are super friendly and their accents are so sexy. Whatever u order here will be made in house so you can taste just how fresh it is. I read a bunch of reviews that said the service sucked but I'm not sure how that's possible. I came here with a few friends. We ordered within 10 minutes and got our food about 10 minutes after that. Our waiter was super friendly and funny. The dishes are smaller than expected and for $16 it wasn't too filling. But that's really my only compliant. It's a must try regardless.

  5. My meal last night took me back to Rome (minus the extended flight and the conversions)! This is the real deal! If you want fresh authentic pasta, bring cash and your appetite you won't be disappointed the slightest bit.

We started off with the meatballs, burrata,  Rigatoni Pitti (a must try) and the mushrooms. All delicious and so fresh.

For entrees we ordered, 3 specials that were listed on the chalkboard: spaghetti with lobster pieces, spaghetti with truffles, spaghetti with pests and then from the everyday menu Pappardelle Alla Fiesolana.

I personally ordered the pappardelle which was super creamy and and with the added fresh parm was perfection!

You seriously feel like you're in Italy while dining here, especially since the waitstaff speaks Italian throughout  conversation.

It was a lovely evening and perfect meal!

P.S we needed to be rolled to our car after- CARB OVERLOAD!!

  6. Pretty horrible pasta here. It tasted like cardboard and the prices were not great. The only good thing about the place is the atmosphere and the location. I don't understand why this place takes cash only. I understand the Chinatown places but nobody carries around $40-60 in cash. Get with the times!

  7. Food was 5 stars, but bc of the service I had to give this place 3 stars.

Here's the negatives first. Inside the restaurant is pretty crowded and "intimate." We had to try pretty hard to get the attention of our server for water refills. We got bread and olive oil (the olive oil was delicious) but no plates…while everyone else around us got plates for their bread. and this place was cash only which made it a little harder for me to order lots of food since I don't always have a lot of cash on me. The specials menu (which was on ONE chalk board) was quite hard to interpret since it was written in Italian.

Positives. My homemade pappardelle was to die for. So delicious!!! And with freshly grated Parmesan. Yum!! So good! And that's the only positive. Delicious food

  8. Authentic Italian restaurant serving homemade pastas. Came here with three other friends and we were seated within a few minutes. Our waiter, Maurizio had us laughing and smiling throughout our entire meal. We were exchanging jokes with him, and also had a serious conversation about different cities in Italy. The service was spot on, and the pasta was delicious. You leave Bar Pitti feeling amazing after consuming all those carbs, and you start to think you can actually pick up the Italian language. But you can't, so you'll have to come back for more food & another lesson.
