  1. Oh BCD, how I love your soon doo boo …

For some odd reason I'm always voraciously hungry whenever I end up at any of the BCD locations around town.  It could be because of an odd coincidence … or it could be because I really dig their food.

This location is convenient thanks to the ease of parking but the wait can get pretty long if you come during peak hours.  However, the food here is just as solid as my other favorite location in Bayside and the service is really tip top.  They have their beloved weekend lunch specials and I always dig their really delish soon doo boo/tofu casserole.  The LA kalbi/soon doo boo lunch combos here are pretty solid and their lunch prices are very reasonable.

If you're a fan of BCD or Korean food, this place is a pretty dependable option.

  2. Really loved every single dish here, and if you could make it lunch time, all lunch special selections were awesome.

We came as a group of five and everyone opted for something different. My friend and I shared the Korean cold noodle with beef and the seafood tofu soup. Such a good combo to relax and kick away the all-day tiredness.

Price tag also pretty friendly. Good amenity and sanity condition – well done!

  3. The Story: What cures a chilly night? Soondobu of course!

    Food:

We ordered the tofu soup along with a side of korean seafood pancake and kalbi. I didn't think the soup was amazing. It was pretty standard. I enjoyed their seafood pancake, it was nice and crunchy. Kalbi was average as well. I remember why it took me so long to come back here.

Decor:  Much larger restaurants than a lot of soondubu places I've been to. There's a children's playroom as well.

Price: Between two people we've spent ~$80 without tip. Kinda expensive if you ask me 🙁

Service: Besides the language barrier, the service is good. Our drinks were filled when needed and banchan was replenished automatically.

Parking & Finding the Place: They share a huge parking lot with many store. Behind in Chase Bank in Fort Lee NJ

Additional Thoughts/Tips: Will prob come back here because they gave me a $5 coupon… lol…

  4. To me, this is the ideal Korean restaurant. Their sundubu (BCD Tofu house chain) is easily better than many sundubu places in Korea. Simple, yet so much flavor. Excellent side dishes. The mackerel is served as a whole fish, and it was very tasty.
Their other dishes are good, too. Try their naengmyun (cold noodle dish)!
    Bibimbap is perfect.
The waiting staff are friendly and helpful, but they do tend to get very busy as it's a very popular spot during peak hours.

  5. This is definitely one of my top spots to go out for soondubu. Although I always prefer the mom and pop shops of Fort Lee, this chain still manages to have the home cooked taste of a good bowl of tofu stew while still offering a huge selection of Korean dishes.

I've come to BCD several times, usually to bring friends for a variety of Korean food options. The restaurant is pretty large with extra seating in the back, and they also have a play room for kids.  The service is hit or miss, usually depending on how packed they are. On a Friday or Saturday night, get ready to wait for someone's attention.

My favorite, of course, is the soondubu. Their tofu stew is extremely flavorful and seasoned perfectly. They have tons of different options, but I would opt for the mixed or beef if you want something more substantial. Other good dishes here include the bibimbap or jjigae. Their appetizers are good, but nothing to rave about. And honestly, they give you tons of starters already including a whole fried fish, so you probably don't need one– unless you want to try their haemul pajeon (seafood pancake) which is good to share.

If you want a good bowl of soondubu in a clean and classy setting, this is a good spot for you.

  6. When in doubt for tofu soup, this is a pretty reliable establishment.  I first came across BCD in Los Angeles few years back.  It was a nice surprise to see BCD in middle of Fort Lee.  They  offer more than just piping hot tofu soups. Of course, you can choose the heat (spiciness) of the soup (Mild, reg, little spicy, very spicy).  They also offer thinly sliced Korean BBQ short ribs and Spicy pork belly stir fry dish, it's truly an easy fix for the craving.

  7. Don't let the name fool you… they are NOT only about tofu… you can get a lot of other Korean dishes then just tofu… 🙂
We ordered a seafood pancake, soondubu of course, japchae, and kalbi… I personally like a more crispy pancake, so i was a bit disappointed at the pancake… it's more chewy than crispy… but a lot of seafood and the size is pretty big… soondubu is soondubu… nothing really extraordinary… and the kalbi is very tasty…
this is chair restaurant so i am sure everywhere you try, they may be the same… it's A-OK meaning they are not bad… but not extraordinary… it's your typical Korean meal if i may say…

  8. I was absolutely famished when we came here and by the time we left I was completely full and with 2 courses of leftovers from the one entree I ordered.

My authentic Korean food knowledge is very limited to basic takeout and some Americanized places, and I was astonished to see all the starters we received (and they were all delicious).  All my friends ordered the Galbi and it was an excellent choice (ORDER IT WHEN YOU COME HERE).  I chose the bulbogi and it was delicious (hence all the leftovers because of the huge portion size in this bubbling pot), but with a pang of regret that I did not order the galbi.

Service was great (professional/friendly/attentive), and the place was not as packed as I anticipated for a Sunday afternoon.  I would make a return visit if I'm in the area.
