  1. Ate breakfast at Blue Dog Kitchen when I was visiting NYC. My husband and I split the peanut butter and pear sandwich and egg and cheese sandwich. Both sandwiches were awful. Honestly neither of us wanted to even finish our sandwiches. We almost threw them out but since we paid for them figured we better eat them. Both sandwiches were really dry, the bread was too thick and there was no flavor.
Was really disappointed with this restaurant. Definitely will not eat here again!!

  2. Orded a huge delivery for a large group meeting at my office and it was a hit! Sammiches and salads were simple and delicious. Definitely better than the vast majority of delis offering the same foods in the area!

  3. Delicious food! Got the spanakopita and gazpacho a few times and it was absolutely delicious. Very fresh ingredients and their menu is pretty big. Only complaint is the hours. They close so early that it's probably impossible for most people with normal working hours to make it for dinner. It'd be a great place to pick up things for lunch for work but with such an early close I can never make it there.

  4. I feel obligated to update my review of Blue Dog Kitchen Bar after the delicious lunch my friends and I had the other day.

I got the W7, which is a seared tuna wrap with watercress, chickpeas, tomatoes, peppers, golden raisins and chopped almonds. SO DELICIOUS! I wish I'd taken a picture of this beaut but my fat ass could not put the wrap down. One bite in and I was a goner.

My friends also got sandwiches/wraps and loved theirs as well. One ordered the portobello with motz (she added chicken to this) with pesto which is served on a soft, fluffy foccacia bread. It smelled absolutely DIVINE. She said the bread was perfect. My other friend ordered the tofu wrap and loved it too.

Their lunch menu is massive with TONS of vegetarian options 🙂 and everything is made to order, so it takes a good 10 minutes for things to come out of the kitchen. Blue Dog Kitchen Bar definitely has a strong lunch following, so don't bank on getting a seat here but definitely hit these guys up for lunch if you're in the area. The food does not disappoint!

  5. Came here thinking I was at "Gray Dog"…
Actually, I was happy I came here instead!
Really great healthy selections of food, juices, smoothies, and treats!
I had the king of the jungle smoothie which has 2 bananas in the recipe…I substituted one banana for cucumber and celery and it was amazing! I'm sure the original version would have been even better but I wanted less sugar.
I split the a sandwich with my friend and it was super fresh and yummy. The fracaccia bread was herbally delightful!!

I'm sure I will be back here on my trip to NY!

  6. Over the past few months my weekend residence in New York has shifted from Brooklyn to Midtown, and with that has come great new set of culinary scenery. Shortly after beginning my exploration of the area I discovered Best Bagel and Coffee, whose breakfast sandwich blew me away:

    yelp.com/biz/best-bagel-…

Since then, it's honestly been a sequence of breakfast sandwiches that honestly don't even come close, and Blue Dog Kitchen was bundled into that group during a recent visit Saturday morning.

Star 1: How were the service and atmosphere?

I will say that the service and atmosphere at Blue Dog Kitchen impress. I got the vibe that the clientele here was a sequence of regulars and locals, and the juice bar appears to be one of the real draws. Certainly no complaints. Star Granted.

Star 2: How were the portions relative to the cost?

A $6.25 for a generous egg portion, a bit of sausage, and cheese on an everything bagel I really can't complain. Pictured below. Star Granted.

Stars 3 and 4: How was the food?

It's here that things were, well, just basic (and with the recent trend of spoiled college kids adopting that word as their own I despise using it). The everything bagel? Meh, it was okay. Would have liked for it to have been toasted I imagine. The egg? Essentially without flavor of its own, so it really just acted as a filler. The sausage? Small, and left by its lonesone along with a small piece of cheese to carry to flavor of the sandwich as the everything bagel really failed to deliver the flavorful kick that I expect from an everything bagel. The whole thing was really just a sum of it's mediocre parts, and compared to the breakfast sandwiches that I've had elsewhere I just wasn't impressed. No Stars Granted.

Star 5: Would you eat here every day if you could?

If I were a juice fanatic maybe, but I'm in it for the food, and the breakfast sandwich at Blue Dog Kitchen didn't impress compared to what's out there in the city. No Star Granted.

  7. We regularly get coffee from this place and occasionally grab our breakfast as well. Ruth is amazingly friendly and helpful. She adds the personal touch to our coffee experience and always remembers what we usually have. Coffee and food quality is also awesome… highly recommended.

  8. Really loved this cozy neighborhood restaurant.  I came in for dinner on a Wednesday night and had an absolutely lovely time and a great meal.  I sat up at their 'bar' (which seats 4) which had a nice atmosphere.   The place did fill up while I was there but never felt crowded or overbearingly NYC loud.

Food wise, it was yummy delicious. I had the veal meatballs with asparagus which were fab and gave in to the cheesecake for desert which was excellent (not too heavy or too sweet).  Good choices of wines too and the bread/olive oil they give with the meal is fresh and a perfect compliment.

A perfect place if you are on your own or with a few friends.
