In the mood for great oxtails and rice and peas? Come to Blue Mountain! I have frequented this caribbean hot spot on Utica ave for some time now over the years. Was in the mood for some island cuisine this particular day. The shop is literally big enough for take out orders. There are stools for "dine in", but with the heat in that place I rather take my food to go! Hahaha. I wanted oxtails and come to find out the price rose! Only had pocket money on me so i got the curry goat( which was just as great) for my 10 buck budget. My server was very nice and trust me a smile and being polite goes a long way…. hint* (extra food). Overall great hot for some Caribbean grub.
Ok so I've been here 3 times , first time was a few years ago and now I've been here 2 days in a row.
One of the best jerk chicken spots around imo and the BBQ chicken is really good too , they serve everything else from Jerk pork to oxtail to rasta pasta to fish and veggies and different curry meats . Pretty wide variety compared to most of the other restaurants around.
Servers are very friendly, prices are fair and portions are pretty big, its a take out joint so you can take it home or to work and dig in and make a mess 😉
Parking can be a Bitc$ but its worth the trip , or just call your order in and run in and out real quick . Just be careful of the bus lane out front .

Ps. You can order jerk wings by the BUCKET !!! #mmmm don't forget the extra spicy jerk sauce on the side 😉

I've always enjoyed Blue Mountain jerk chicken. The jerk sauce is delicious. It's a staple and it is consistently good. Venturing past jerk chicken has been a little more inconsistent. I had a fish that was just okay with rice and peas. But the curry chicken and macaroni and cheese was very good.
What seems to be consistently problematic are the attitudes of some staff members. I can't think of a time that I feel genuinely welcome or greeted. I've also heard tones that have been curt and gruff towards customers.
But maybe that's not the point. After all it is a counter dining experience where are you order your food take it and leave.
Came here on a recommendation for lunch. Service was little slow and maybe not that friendly. I got jerk chicken w rice and peas. The food was pretty good. I like a saucier jerk chicken, it came with sauce on the side.
But overall I thought the food was good. I also ordered a beef Patti which I liked cause it tasted more home made then golden crust. It also tasted good the next day!
