  1. When you come to Citi and eat at Blue Smoke you realize that we have come a loooooong way from watery dogs, inedible chicken nuggets and soggy pretzels at the old Shea. The best part about the long lines for Shake Shack is smaller lines for the far better Blue Smoke.
I got the BBQ platter which I chose Ribs and Pulled pork. Both choices were delicious. The ribs were fall off the bone and the pulled pork had that slightly vinegary Carolina style flavor I love. It came with a very moist piece of Corn Bread and quite simple the best Baked Beans I have ever had. Not just saying that either, they were tangy and salty with little pieces of pork ends in it. I couldve eaten 2 orders of it.  I look forward to going to one of Blue Smoke's sit down places if the food is anything like this Citifield outlet.

  2. Stadium food doesn't really exist with a 5 star review in mind. People don't like getting gouged for a meal during a concert but kind of go with it anyway when (or really, if) hunger sets in. You expect to get gouged but you don't expect quality too often.

I think Blue Smoke and Shake Shack are the welcome additions to Citi Field that at least aren't one of those aforementioned items. You'll overpay but you'll be happy with the food that comes out. At least I was.

First off, you don't have the immense line that Shake Shack does. The SS location here is absolutely baffling to me; people miss parts of their concert or game to get a burger. Guys. GUYS. Simmer down. There are other locations around the city. I went with Blue Smoke out of principle that I wasnt going to wait 20 minutes for food. 5 minutes later we had our items.

Beef brat with their specialty cheese, onions on a pretzel bun and a pulled pork sandwich. Both were delicious in every way and the super pleasant folks working the counter sure helped things.

Worth a shot. Great BBQ and brats, not much of a wait.

  3. I was all set to give a very nice, four-star review for the brat sandwich I got here at the Met game this past week. I was going to say that the sausage was well-cooked, and the bun was fresh and soft, and the toppings stayed in once I flipped everything upside down. I was going to say that the fries were delicious despite the extraneous spices. My only complaint was going to be the price; that $17 for a sausage and fries was a bit high.
Then I had a Nathan's Hot Dog with mustard during the 7th inning and realized that I could have just gotten that and saved myself $10.

  4. In terms of the "premium" stadium food options at Citi, the line for Blue Smoke is generally way shorter than Shake Shack's (especially once you realize there are two BS lines, and the one on the left closer to Shake Shack is way shorter because it's obscured by hamburger-seekers).  Plus, you can snag a relatively affordable Maker's and ginger instead of the standard ballpark Bud Light, which is a win.

However, the minuses are many.  It's $9-11 for the teeniest sandwiches you can imagine–the pulled pork sandwich is basically a three-bite slider.  The bratwurst has some of the grossest pimento cheese I've ever tasted–it all ended up getting scraped off.  And the line might look shorter than Shake Shack, but the staff is so bad that it moves much more slowly and you might just be better off going for that burger you really want.  Just having someone out there to expedite and organize would make a world of difference.

I'm a big fan of the Blue Smoke over in Battery Park City–one of my favorite summer lunch spots–but this one is most definitely not worth the wait.  Get a regular old ballpark sausage (or wait for a Shackburger) and you'll be way happier.

  5. The stand at Cit Field really does a disservice to the name Blue Smoke.  It is vastly inferior to any of the actual dine in locations in not just menu, but in quality as well.  The only reason it warrants three stars is because the offerings here are not bad for ball park food.

You get the choice of pulled pork, brisket, or bratwurst in either sandwich or platter form (you get to pick 2 meats with the platter).  The bratwurst and the sides of cornbread and beans are not bad, because they're generally pre-made foods anyway, and only really require heating up.  The seasoned fries are quite delicious, and probably the highlight of this place.

The pulled pork and brisket are terrible…because the versions here are basically pre-made, and just heated up.  But like I said earlier, passable for ball park food.

  6. Citifield has so many good food options you forget you're here to watch some baseball. After half an inning of soul searching, I decided on BBQ over tacos or meatball sliders.

$14 platter – 2 meats (got brisket and ribs), corn bread, and baked beans. Got some overpriced Stella to wash it down. Above average cornbread, decent but forgettable beans, average ribs, and overly salty but somehow very good brisket. Not necessarily baseball food, but it hit the spot nonetheless.

I've never been to their Manhattan location, so nothing to compare the food too, but for the price (and lack of line), I'd say it's worth it.

  7. As a kid going to a baseball game meant hot dogs, ice cream, peanuts, soda and pretzels. Nothing fancy. A dog and soda and this kid was happy. At eighteen my taste changed to beer and a dog. Now, bottle beer (craft) and some tasty meats.

Blue Smoke satisfies my need for tasty meats and the World Beer Stand right in front of Blue Smoke took care of my beer needs. One very satisfied customer.

Blue Smoke is an outpost of the NYC restaurant by said name at Citi Field. The Blue Smoke outpost served some delicious ribs and tasty brisket sandwich on my very first visit to the ballpark.

The ribs had smoke and nice seasoning. Flavor was there, but a couple of bones a tad dry. Not the end of the world, but for my $10, you know, I want perfect. The beef brisket sandwich, delicious. Smoke, flavor, taste all right there. Very satisfying sandwich at $9 or so.

Overall, Blue Smoke will be my first stop at a Met game, after beer of course, for food. I give their stand high marks for quality, as well as taste. A bit pricey, but could be worst. Nice job.

  8. As
    Game day
    Food goes it
    Tastes ok for fast
Food BBQ. Price gouge not as painful.
