  1. A over flashy decorated restaurant with no flare in the service or on the plates.

    Food: 3 Stars
The food was good, but extremely basic. This is the first time (that I can recall) I have ever gone to a restaurant that didn't garnish its plates in any way. Even diners would add half a pickle just to make it look more presentable. I ordered the skirt steak (med rare) which came out on an oval plate and that was it. The fries came out on a plate of their own. To me all I saw on my plate was a slab of meat slightly overcooked with nothing to make me wanting to come back. The only saving grace was the meat & chicken empanadas for appetizers. They were truly delicious and seemingly made fresh by the chefs.

    Drinks: 3 Stars
Never received a drink menu from them so I have no idea what they have for mixed drinks. They did however stock a lot of Quilmes which is an excellent beer in my opinion and it came out ice cold which brings out its natural flavor.

    Service: 1/2 Star
The only plus here is that we received the drinks quickly. They took our sweet time getting us the check. For some reason (I don't know why) the person in our group of 7 decided to pay above the gratuity for service that was rather poor. We never saw our waiter for most of the meal. When we did see someone it was to take away out appetizer/bread plates well before out main dish arrived and barely after we finished out starters. Patience People!! After we paid our check we chatted for less than 5 minutes…then all of a sudden we were asked to leave by I assume a captain. There was a line forming and they wanted the table immediately. He tried to joke around about it, but he wanted us out badly and had a real attitude in his voice and actions. I didn't really pay attention to it then, but trying to kick out a large group who ordered well and left a higher than average tip, I think you would want to be a little more courteous to them. We were leaving within the next few minutes anyway. BE MORE PATIENT!

    Ambiance: 2 Stars
I get the feeling that this restaurant is there just to make money. Everything about it feels off, from its decor to its servers. It is a place for fans of soccer and nothing else.

    Overall: 2 Stars
If the service was better I would go as high as 3.5 stars, but impatience and lack of service is what will be the downfall of Boca Juniors. The food is there to be food and nothing else. I am paying $25+ for a steak I hope to see something more than a slab of meat on a plate. If I have any recommendations for this restaurant it is to package the empanadas and sell them to retailers and wholesalers to be sold at other restaurants and household snacks. That is if they are made in house. Boca Junior's is an O.K. place to bring a mid-sized group (6-8 people) to catch up or have a good time.

All I have to say is you can do far better.

  2. this is off the mother effin hook!!!!

i hate steak and i hate to eat meat, but boy, when i bit into the steak, i was so AMAZED!!!!   it has so much flavor and you didn't even need to use any sauce!  it was good on its own!!!  the meat was cooked just right and it was so perfect.

the waiters were absolutely wonderful.  service was great!  i loved how laid back it was.  we had reservations and they were honored on time.

also, the prices are very reasonable and i will be back.

we also got some sangria in white and red and they were just okay.  kinda pricey in my opinion so i dont know if i'd get that again.

  3. This restaurant is too expensive for the quality of foods and service. I believe it would be a great experience staying here during World Cup Argentina games, but for no-game days the servers are not warm and the food is too bland for me.

  4. definitely a great place to watch a futbol game! the portions were good and the food was tasty. the staff were friendly but i didn't like how they asked me to leave a cash tip when i was paying with a credit card. i totally get why they asked because i've been in the restaurant business since i was 13. however you never ask a customer. thats a no no.

  5. Firstly, the atmosphere is very soccer-centric and energetic.  It's a great place for a casual meal with friends or family… or both!  We came here very recently and had a dinner feasting on skirt steak & pork chops.  I was very satisfied with my chuletas not only in portion size, but also flavor and texture.  It paired very well with their homemade chimichurri sauce.  We were altogether too stuffed for dessert, but I'm sure it would have been tasty based off our fresh and well-cooked entrees.  Service was not an issue for us, though some have complained about it being slow, I thought it was prompt and the guys were very courteous to us.  Actually, there was some misunderstanding between my friend's girlfriend and the server about the chimichurri sauce, which made him a bit snappy, but I really couldn't pick a side.  All I can say is, I thought everything was fine.  I came in expecting the worst because of the not-so-good Yelp reviews, but it was anything but that.

I enjoyed my experience very much and wish I had come here during the World Cup to watch some games over a nice meal.  My fiance absolutely loved all the soccer paraphernalia because he is definitely still in withdrawal mode.  He actually suggested I wear my Argentina jersey (Go Messi!), but I was too intimidated to do so, haha!

Lastly, they were nice enough to let us borrow an umbrella because it was pouring when we left the restaurant.  Unfortunately, the umbrella had broken, and I had offered a replacement or reimbursement, but they were nice enough to let it slide, recognizing that it was a freak accident.  I don't forget kind gestures like that.

Boca Junior is good in my book!

  6. YUM YUM YUM BOOOOCCAASS!

Last august, I threw my bf a big surprise bday party at this place because he had told me it was one of his favorite local spots and he wanted to take me there.

I made a reservation for a group of about 18 and they gave us a separate room from the rest of the restaurant. My friends were there on time but my bf and I were late (on purpose) .. they didn't want to order until we got there , our waiter was a bit pushy yet still patient (from what I hear). Once we got there, the service was great.

I ordered the skirt steak (entraña) because I heard they have the best in town. Now let me clarify, I am super picky with my skirt steak.. it is the most delicious steak ever when made correctly and only one place that I've been to has gotten it right so I was sure Boca would not make it as good as I expected. BUT when I tried the first piece… WOW WOW WOW!!! IT WAS FLIPPIN DELICIOUS!! I tried to savor every last piece but it went too quickly 🙁

The wait staff sang Happy Birthday to my boyfriend and gave him a piece of flan with a candle in it… it was scrumptious!!

I definitely recommend this place – our whole big group was happy with their food.

Damnit now I really want to go there tonight…………… *mouth waters*

  7. I was soooo exciting coming back from Argentina to see a totally DECKED out Boca Junior restaurant..!! Talk about team spirit!  I've been here a few times and ordered the same thing, the steak menu for 2 which includes about 3 cuts of steak and a few sausages and 2 sides.  The deal is awesome and the Malbec selection is good as well.  However I'm upset they don't have the condiments (or just forget to give them to us) like they do at other Argentinian steak houses.. i hate when people discriminate and think you don't know how to eat their food!  Is it too hard to ask that everyone gets chopsticks in Asian restaurants & all the chimmichurri fixings in Argentinian restaurants?? #firstworldproblems ::sigh::

  8. Gotta love Boca Junior for what they are: an argentinian meat shack in a soccer fanatic's living room. We thought there would be more of a soccer crowd here but I guess the Algeria/Slovenia game wasn't enough of a draw.

Been coming here for years and have felt the quality gradually decline.

My main gripes with Boca Junior's are as follows:

-The lack of included side dishes. Presentation is awful because they basically throw your meat on a plate and throw the plate on your table. Is she pretty? No. Is she well-dressed? No. Is still she delicious? Yes.

-Staff is overly friendly – with each other. They seem to be so caught up with their own jokes and antics that they come of as unattentive. I'm all for brotherly bonding but don't go carrying on with the guffawing and splitting sides when you have customers who are waiting for water, waiting to order, waiting for food to arrive, waiting for the check… hold on, why are they called "waiters" again?

Must tries: entraña, chorizo, grill platter (for 1 or for 2), flan con dulce de leche. Skip the steamed potatoes, they're flavorless and inconsistent. Also, skip the bread… they're not worth the effort it takes to bring them to your mouth.
