  1. 5 stars for current very cool, really, ultra cool , art exhibit called "the swings". see my photos.

"each swing represents one of four instruments:  piano, harp, guitar, vibraphone–and triggers sound when participants swing back & forth".

this is a limited time art event, only until july 7th, 2016.  june 10-july 7.
    time: from 12 noon – 8pm

note:  this is not, repeat–not a playground–it is an art installation, therefore, a waiver must be signed, there are rules. see my photo of the rules poster.
parent/guardian must sign a waiver for anyone 18 years or younger.

children under 36"  tall must ride on parent/guardian's lap.

bad weather such as rain or wind may temporarily close the art installation.

sign says: " swing & experience collaborative music-making in this interactive art installation"

during peak times–limit of 5 minutes on swing, per person.

adults or kids can swing on the swings and as your swing moves, music is created–you will hear different music from each swing.

inside brookfield mall-nice selection of shops & restaurants .  i shall go back to try the food…

today, there were beautiful tulips painted on the outside of the glass walls and, the sun was shining.

i look forward to going back so that i can try the swings!  i did not have time when i saw this lovely art installation.

there is a blue tented table at the area & you sign the waiver there, before you are permitted to take part.

this art installation is ultra cool!

  2. Stopped by with my brother before watching the US vs Paraguay match. Very pretty space, with high tables and stools. There is an assortment of fresh meat and seafood that they'll cook for you. Started with some foie gras terrine, very fresh and satisfying. We tried the Tiger Shrimps at $10 each, was a steal! They're almost the size of a lobster. Wash it down with the excellent Triennes Saint Fleur, makes for a perfect small meal.

Definitely worth a visit – the Ferry from NJ stops right outside.

  3. I brought my parents here when they came to New York City and they liked it! It's one of the only malls in Manhattan (I actually hate shopping on the streets). Even though the shops are mostly high-end brand names, the food court and outer port area is a must visit.

Such a nice place to relax under the palm trees and enjoy a treat from Le District or Hudson Eats. 🙂

  4. They currently have the Intrude Exhibition here – it's interesting, especially when you walk into the main lobby and all of a sudden see a giant bunny in your way. But I believe that's what Intrude is all about: Bunnies intruding our space. They're everywhere; hanging out in our lobby, lounging by some stores, resting outside. It's cute, though confusing at first. My friends and I couldn't help but think that it was for Easter at first, until we quickly realized that Easter was over…

However you interpret this installation, you can't help but have the bunnies intrude your mind and conversations when you step into Brookfield.

  5. I liked walking around here just for the two at installations that were there when I visited with my wife.

The design is gorgeous of the entire facility and really welcoming on a hot summer day. My wife, daughter and myself had a really good time here and had an easy day upon leaving NYC due to the nature of this place. I can't wait to come back here and explore it more. Stores were more upscale than I had anticipated, but its worthwhile just for the walk around.

  6. Brookfield is a place you love to hate. Marble floors, pristine floor-to-ceiling windows, expensive shops selling designer clothes and overpriced groceries…  But you can't hate them.
Because Brookfield place has Hudson Eats (Hello affordable lunch!) and it's also an gorgeous entertainment center. Standing inside Brookfield Place, you get a view of the harbor, and whatever concert or art installment that is going on that day.

The Winter Garden hosts musical performances. Which is amazing! Palm trees surround the mini stage and you sway to the performers. I've watched a Shanghainese Jazz Concert here and the sound was great. I didn't know I loved this genre of music so much!

Then there's the ever rotating interactive public art displays here. Some of them were well worth the trek from the subway (R, 4, 5, A, C) and others were fun to see if you were in the area.
Intrude was a series of enormous white lit blown up balloon bunnies. Beautiful luminescent adorable bunnies. There was the light show that played musical tunes and let you change the light colors. That was very entertaining and beautiful. Currently, they have a musical swing set. As you swing, you play a note and make a melody with your fellow swingers.

  7. Apparently this is one of the better areas of the city and it became even more special during this weekend, when the America's cup was being held.

My friend and I came in a bit late, when all the ideal spots were being taken away by those early birds; however we were still able to observe the whole race with excitement.

Nice weather (with wind and sunshine), lovely people, exciting competition! Probably there should be a moment in life where I just forget about being a foodie!

  8. This mall, filled with mostly higher end shops, is across from the 911 memorial.  (You can get to it via an underground tunnel from the One World Trade Center-aka Freedom Tower.)

There are restaurants on the first floor and a food court on the second floor. The food in the food court is not your typical fast food garbage found at most malls (well, I can only speak for malls in Vancouver) and actually offers healthy choices that don't make you feel ill.

This is s good place to come to if you're visiting the memorial and are hungry, need to use the bathroom, or need Internet access (note: to use the free wifi, you must sign in with your email address).
