  1. Needs some work on service at this place.  Got seated pretty quickly on a week day and ordered the guacamole $12 – side note, does anyone else hate paying over $8 dollars for guac??? I feel like its a rip off.. anyyway  then I ordered the enchiladas with beef… they came out with chicken ??? What ???

Might come back but only for happy hour since they have $5 margaritas but the food was nothing special ….

  2. This review is 2 parts, similar to my grievances with other "Mexican" restaurants in New York. The food was completely overpriced, I ordered NACHOS and received 7 chips piled with toppings. this cost $9…. The WORST offense though would be the tacos $19 for THREE……3……TRES tacos!!!! GTFOH #girlBYE

The redeeming aspect of this experience was the drinks, this has to be one of the best happy hours I have been to in the area. It is the BEST Pina Colada I have ever had… ever.

So basically eat before you come, get wasted.

    The End

  3. A little on the pricier side, but their food and drinks are on POINT. I suggest the enchiladas. They also have great margaritas and a ton of different flavors to choose from – the guava was awesome! The space was a little tight and it felt kind of cramped, but overall I really enjoyed my experience here. Definitely a place to seek out if you're in the West Village!

  4. I rarely give one star reviews so that says a lot.

Service: deplorable. Was not offered water till we were ready to order. Waitstaff got my order wrong and brought me a quesadilla instead of the fajita i ordered. I told him no, i said fajita, and my friend across the table confirmed that I said fajita. He then proceeded to argue with me that i had said quesadilla not fajita. I think he did that for a show given his manager was standing around him.

    Conversation went like this…

Waiter: "you said quesadilla, and i confirmed with you 'quesadilla', you said yes, but you want a fajita now, that's ok, I bring you fajita. But you said quesadilla."

…and i was like UMMM NO I DIDNT. I should have argued further and talked to the manager directly, but at that point i was annoyed after having a tiring day and I didn't want to cause further trouble so I let it pass. But I knew i'd be writing a pretty honest review on Yelp right afterwards… and that's what i'm doing now.

Food: Sadly did not make up for the bad service. The FAJITA i got was bland, had too much tomato paste (it felt like I was eating tomato paste straight from the jar???), and the side 'toppings' was a small scoop of sour cream and guac. No onions, no cilantro, no green sauce, no NOTHING. It was pretty much the furthest thing I could think of from an actual fajita. Also it wasn't sizzling hot, maybe warm at most. My friend got a dish that i cant remember the name of but she said it had a weird fishy aftertaste and she didn't finish her dish either. We both vowed to never return unless they changed the cook and that waiter that tried to cover his a$$. The only redeeming quality was the guac ($13), which was the only good thing from this whole experience.

Bottom line: spend your money elsewhere. I should have walked out when I saw that the place was practically empty on a prime meal time.

  5. ***HAPPY HOUR ONLY ***

Good margaritas. Not as good as Tio Pepe next door. Ironically, they are owned by the same restaurant group so I'm curious as to the difference in margarita quality levels. It was still a well made drink.

Seating here is a bit tighter than at Tio Pepe. This place omits a certain kind of local Mexican bar feel as oppose to the more sit down appropriate feel of Tio Pepe.

Burrito Loco is that crazy cousin that drinks beers & shots while Tio Pepe is a blazer & jeans drinking wine type of place.

BOTH are great happy hour places. And BOTH will see me revisit as dine-in.

    FAN.

  6. A Mexican restaurant that wants to charge me $4 for a side of sour cream is an abomination.  I might as well buy my own sour cream and sneak it in.

This policy of theirs left a sour taste in my mouth, and the rest of the evening was spent eating overly seasoned, salty "Mexican" food at a Manhattan price.

Service was ok.  The place was super loud.  Prices were around $15 for crap food.

    Forgettable.

  7. The Quick: Fantastic Mexican food was delicious unlimited homemade chips and salsa that never disappoints. Also a cute venue.

The Details: It's  no secret that I'm a fan of Mexican food… what's not to like? I will say the number one thing that sets a Mexican restaurant apart from another is if they have unlimited chips and if they are homemade or not. Unlimited chips with homemade salsa will always keep me coming back for more.

That being said, the guacamole is fantastic. The tacos are incredible and the big portions  come with a side of rice and beans as well. The margaritas are very strong but a little pricey at $11.  The atmosphere is fun the venue is attractive and the waitstaff is very nice. It's a great place to go with friends for a drunken night out. Sidenote it's also one of my parents favorite place to go.

The Damage: The entrees are around $13, which at first I thought was pricey for Mexican. But then I thought about how  chipotle usually costs $10 and all I get is one burrito. At burrito loco you get your entrée with the sides (beans, rice, Guac, etc) and unlimited chips for a little more. One of my favorite spots, you'll see me there soon.

  8. Uh food here is not got at all. Watery flavorless guacamole, made "tableside"-yea beside a table just not yours.
Had fish taquitos, nasty. Didn't even finish.
We asked for sour cream and that was the best part of the meal ended up just dipping our chips in the source and eating that. So sad.

Drinks are good that's pretty much it.
Service is really bad. Like really. Everyone is so rude and can't be bothered.
