  1. It's a struggle to find a study spot in Bensonhurst.. until I found this spot!
Not the perfect study spot, but it'll do for bensonhurst. I love the big tables available to do work, but you might have a hard time finding a plug in certain areas.

Also the coffee is surprisingly good!! I THINK the beans are from Europe? but I can definitely tell that it is not American coffee beans. Really good quality coffee for an affordable price.

I havent tried any of the food items yet, but the presentations looks beautiful!

  2. I think this location has more choices of food than the one in bay ridge.

    Coffee is always good.

I had an English muffin sandwich with sausage which is delish! My bf ordered what he always orders, spicy chicken sandwich. He said the bread in bay ridge one is better than here.

  3. Finally another coffee shop to compete with the small and overcrowded Starbucks down the street!

This is spacious and has lots of seating. I came here for a coffee and a Portobella sandwich which was really good….although a little on the expensive side. I got to read without being interrupted, which says  a lot for a coffee shop!

  4. Comfortable seating and better lit environment than Starbucks down the block! Wifi is also faster here, but is occasionally splotchy if you choose to stay. There are also books on the bookcase such as Harry Potter or Catching Fire. I ordered a latte and a strawberry nana waffle. Latte tasted like a normal latte, and the waffle didn't match up to its price of 8.25.

I asked the cashier if the waffle came with any drizzle and she didn't quite understand me. Would've opted out of the whipped cream if I had known, but it's nice that they bring your food over. You pick up your drinks at the counter.

  5. I love Caffe Bene! Yes – I know it's a Korean chain coffee shop. Yes – I know it's like 3x as much as a regular good' ol Chinese bakery! And Yes, I know it's a wannabe like Paris Baguette & Tous Le Jour!  Nope – I'm still a fan!

I love their fresh made waffles with all the yummy fresh fruit toppings! And the giant toast (honey bread) – French toast' esque desserts! And the very flavorful "ice parfait"!  It's my throw back to my trip visiting Seoul… I love having those shaved ice bowl w/ all the fixin's!

There are a few locations all around Manhattan and Queens, so I'm beyond thrilled when it came to BK!

Very spacious, lots of communal tables for sharing and individuals too.  Free wifi with purchase.

Service was cool, easy, and nice of them to bring over our drinks & food.  Don't get sticker price shock… Fresh made waffles run about $6.50 & up… The honey bread (giant French toasts) about $7.50 & up.  Drinks are decent – a med ice Americano (my vice of all drinks!) is about $2.75 (Manhattan charges me $4.20!), and anything fancy like a matcha this or that.. Add like $2… Coffees are better than water down D&D. (Which happens to be right next door!  Caffe Bene gotz ball!). Wouldn't have it any other way.  Can't wait to come back!

    Cheers!

  6. I've been to this Caffe Bene location quite a few times after I learned from my boyfriend that they have Free WiFi, lots of seating area, not too loud, and they have outlets. I don't need to trek to Barnes & Noble or sit at the overcrowded Starbucks as much anymore.

They have lots of tables, communal tables, and very spacious. It's pretty quiet here and they have nice, calm cafe-like music. Employees and staff are friendly and nice.Their lattes are pretty good and tasty, definitely different from Starbucks.

I've never had any huge problems here except for one afternoon I came and the WiFi was working on my iPhone, but not on my laptop. I inquired about it with the employees, but they couldn't do anything about it and didn't even offer a free drink or anything for their broken WiFi. Luckily, my boyfriend is an Optimum customer so he gave me his log in which totally worked.

Overall, this is a good place to get some studying, work done, meet up with friends, and etc. I typically like coming here to catch up on my blogging and etc. So glad they opened up one on this side of Bensonhurst, but now they need to open one near 86th street.

  7. Atmosphere/lighting which is great for studying alone/with friends.
    Staff also very nice.

VERY against bringing outside food/drinks in here – will scold you if they see you with it.

Lost a star because, tbh, the food leaves much to be desired. I sat here the whole day studying, drinks here – perfectly fine.

Here is my rant on the food… but I know this is a coffee/sweets shop, hence the loss of 1 star as opposed to 4.

    Food on the other hand…
I ordered this WARM waffle before, strawberry/banana – it was good except it was about $10 dollars which is pretty darn expensive.

Ordered a pistachio/green tea waffle – approximately $6 – it was straight out of the fridge/display where all the cakes are, thrown on a plate, and… was honestly terrible. I ate about half (because it was so expensive) but I couldn't take the texture and taste anymore. You can barely cut that thing because it was so frigid. Suggestion: maybe they should warm it up and try that…

Ordered mac and cheese – a DISASTER.

Took about 35 minutes to make. I had to pick it up from the counter… and awkwardly walk to my seat all the way at the end of the store. Though I noticed they will sometimes deliver drinks to a sitting customer. You would think for nearly $11, it would be a whole pan baked full of hot mac and cheese and…… nope.

First, I don't think they cook it in the pan. It seems to be cooked separately and then scraped on top of a thick piece of bread. I'm not sure who's idea that was… but it was NOT a tasty one. The bread was soggy and tasteless from the oil seeping into the bread. I'm gagging at the thought of it now. Some breadcrumbs would have probably been better.

Second it looks like some kraft 99 cent box of mac and cheese. Not even real macaroni elbows. I was really disappointed. The cheese… I don't know. It's probably shredded cheddar?

Last, the store was cold, my cheese froze over by the time I was nearly 1/2 way done. The whole thing was cold. Sigh.

Not really expecting 5-star mac and cheese here… but it was $11 dollars so I expected some halfway decent food.

I don't think I will be coming here for long-hour study days again.

  8. Ive seen several diff locations around and finally tried this one. My bf likes their drinks becos its not too sweet like the other coffee spots such as Dunkin Donuts and Starbucks. I tried their vanilla latte and its just the right flavor. My bf likes their caramel macchiato. I never stepped in to order so i wouldnt have much to say abt their decor. But judging from outside, it looks pretty warm and cozy.
