  1. A fun little haunt in the West Village. I always visit when I go to NYC.

Great food. An even better atmosphere. I would go here for the decor alone. Get the two types of hummus. Well worth it.

Wasn't sure what to drink last time I was here. (I wasn't feeling cocktails.) The bartender recommended a great rosé that I really enjoyed.

  2. I really enjoyed my experience here. The service was excellent. The hookah was just okay. Drinks are a bit overpriced but I guess that's just nyc. Belly dancers were a lot of fun. Intimate ambiance. Great date night spot.

  3. One of the best Hookah places I've been to, despite the extremely aggressive yet awkward service. It must have been the guy's first day there or something because he was accosting us with his uncomfortable service, for real. Actually, come to think of it, so was the bartender. But the ambiance here is really nice. It's in a really nice neighborhood and only a 1 minute walk from all the Meatpacking madness and the beautiful Hudson River Park. Drinks and food were standard price, maybe cheaper. I would definitely come back. Our belly dancer was insanely hot–middle eastern Ariana Grande.

  4. 4 stars for the decor of the place as it transports you to Morocco.

4 stars for the food. The Branzino was perfectly cooked and seasoned.

2 stars for the seating arrangement. Reservations were made well in advance. There is no reason why the party was separated seated perpendicularly with tables that didn't even match.

1 star for the service. One waitress was training another and she didn't even know her name. When we placed our orders, she repeated each of our orders twice and she still didn't get it right. Orders were being placed all over. The kitchen incorrectly gave me salmon versus the Branzino. When we paid for the bill, the nitwit forgot to charge a card and got so frustrated she slammed the pitcher of water and asked the manager to take care of it. Little did she know, it was her fault.

So yeah… I'm never coming back here again.

  5. I've been here twice – both times on dates with different people.

The first time I got to see the bellydancers perform (there were two of them) but we came on a Sunday and the restaurant was pretty much empty (maybe 2 other tables were occupied) so the atmosphere was lacking a little bit. The belly dancers did interact with us (they pulled both me and my date up at separate times and showed us a dance). The tables are arranged in a circular formation so that everyone can basically get a good view.

The second time I went there were no belly dancers or show, so that was disappointing – and the restaurant was a little bit more crowded, making service a little less personalized.

Both times I recall the food being good, albeit very expensive (we got the a la carte). I think the food I tried were: the baklava, crab cakes and some eggplant dish. The service was professional / fine and the bathroom was exceptionally clean and comfy. To be honest, the entire opulent decor of the restaurant is what makes this restaurant so special.

Parking is really tight around here but it's a great date spot because you get to luxuriate behind curtains in your own little romantic nook.

TIP: If you are on a date I'd recommend going on a romantic stroll to the water (just two or so blocks away) after dinner and making sure you book whenever the show will be on.

  6. Amazing. Amazing. Amazing.

This was my best kept secret last summer until I made the mistake of bringing friends! Haha but anyway, this is our go-to downtown spot.

Depending on the time of year and day, the ambience varies. I've come in the middle of summer, stretched out on the grass floor (yes, GRASS floor), drank beers and watched soccer. Or, on a Friday or Saturday night we'll get dressed up for girls night and have a fabulous meal and dessert.

The decor is very feminine and Egyptian boho glam (with out being gaudy or tacky). The male to female ratio is about 1:2. Bathrooms are plentiful, single, spacious (clean AND pretty) rooms.

Desserts are top notch and I have so many favorite foods I can't list them all, but please get the crab cake!!! The best I've had in my life, and I've been almost everywhere. Basically, there are more enough good things I can say about this place.

Oh, and also… Nicklas – our server last time, you deserve a medal!!

  7. The food is good and the environment is fun. The baklava is out of this world. The belly dancer was great too. A little pricey – but its NYC so thats the norm when you order drinks.

  8. From ridiculously small portions of $8 appetizers to $29 main courses with no side dish, this is not a place to go for food. Service was super slow, our waiter had this rude attitude ("are you done talking? I wanna tell you specials of the night", when we jokingly said 'no', he just turned away and left with an attitude, and we're like 'dude, chill'). You might come here for belly dancers and fyi, if you're not sitting on a tent (with prix fixe menu), you'll see the belly dancer for 5 mins max. Do yourself a favor, skip this place. Instead, go to a nice restaurant for dinner and if you really wanna see dancers, head to a strip club. 🙂
