  1. Decent local bar – about 18 beers on tap.  I had a Long Hammer IPA.  Plenty of seats at the bar plus a lot of tables – it is a good sized place.  Bartender was nice enough.  Background music was something Pop.  Lots of guys and no girls at 5:30 on a Thursday evening.

  2. Great bar to grab some food and drinks.  Pretty spacious with lots of tvs all over the place.  Drinks are reasonably priced and the service was very attentive.  Definitely check it out.

It's a Seattle Seahawks bar so if you're not a fan of them, beware.

  3. Solid place. Beautiful interior. Refreshingly cold inside on a blistering hot summer evening.

Happy hour specials run until 8 PM on weekdays and are pretty solid deals.

I had a tequila based cocktail (which was part of the happy hour menu) that had a very summery taste and enjoyed it thoroughly. It was a nice variation on a margarita.

Good place to grab a drink. I'll be back.

  4. Solid bar. The Guinness that I ordered was poured with care and precision when I ordered it. The food ia typical standard bar food so you know what to expect. The prices were good for the area. Their Dom Perignon Brut 2005 is $275 if you're interested in balling out hard.

  5. A fairly ordinary and non memorable bar experience. Dim lit and lower Manhattan prices. Expect to spend money for a decent drink.  Since it is located near St. Mark's, you get a lot of NYU crowd and a lot of young professionals. If that is your crowd, then this will be great. Not ideal for dates – when the music is blasting, you will have to shout to the person next to you. Maybe your date is into that stuff, other than that, I would avoid. Lost my voice after 3 hours at the bar. The drink that I enjoyed was the Ensaged mule (Vodka, lime juice, ginger beer, sage- $11)- it was pretty good. Had better but respectable. There are a lot of tv- unfortunately. none of them are huge screen. A bit hard to see if you are sitting at one of the tables or far away.  Otherwise, it satisfies any sports need if you are near the bar or standing around.

  6. Ok so it was super packed last night bc nba finals and ….. I was thoroughly impressed at how amazing the service was. It was a little on the slower side but not without reason HELLO nba finals and a historic one at that. Our waitress was cheerful and as attentive as she could be considering the amount of people there. I only had drinks but my friends ate and said it was good. The four stars are for how amazing the service was on one of the busiest times. Your staff rocks!

  7. Went briefly into Central bar to drop in on a friend's birthday. When I first walked in, it seemed like a typical sports bar/Irish pub, and was immediately confused because my friends are a bit more ratchet than that. It turns out that my friend were upstairs on a separate floor… Walking up the stairs you slowly hear the music getting louder and louder. The upstairs floor is a stark difference from the first floor bar. The second floor had a nightclub-esque feel. There was a live DJ and a bar adjacent to the dance floor. I really liked the option of choosing between one of the two different floors and I definitely liked the price of the drinks (I don't clearly remember but i think 5 shots of Jameson was 40$?).

I did have some qualms with this bar, I wish they had a larger draft selection, Irish pub and all (No Guinness on tap??). I also wish they hadn't backlight the beer bottles, it makes it hard to see which bottled beers they had.

So on a particularly drunken night, I decided to accidentally leave my bar tab and my cc at the bar. When i realized this the next morning, i called and they were able to graciously keep it at the bar for me. I've heard of bars that charge money for overnighted cards but this places was great and didn't fine me for my drunken escapades. Also on Sunday this place turns into an awesome Seahawks bar! They set up tables and projector screens everywhere. I don't follow football but if I was a Seahawks fan, this is where I would want to be.

  8. A nice place to grab lunch with coworkers or watch the game. There isn't really anything about Central Bar that stands out or sets it apart from other sports bars in the area, but I have noticed that every time I'm here, the service has been great. The bartenders are friendly and willing to share their personal favorites off of the menu. If you describe the kind of drink you're looking for, they're also helpful at recommending the best options available.

I particularly like Central Bar's cocktails, especially the Cucumber Cooler, consisting of Crop Organic Cucumber Vodka and their own House Limeade. And during Happy Hour, it's only $6! The Cucumber Cooler is the ideal blend of sweet and tangy, while also serving as a refreshing pick-me-up on a summer day (you can tell that I'm still clinging to the last few traces of summer in December).

There are a million bars in the East Village, but Central Bar is a consistent, reliable choice for a casual drink or a spot to hang out.
