“Spicy squid $7 lunch w/ soup on the hot stone is to live for, an absolute tongue dance.”

“Other dishes I've tried are the spicy cold noodles, duk bok ki (solid), dolsot bibimbap (solid), jap chae (had better).”

“I loved the ban chan, all of those yummy little side dishes to munch on with the main entree are the best!”

  1. In the search for Korean food in Edison, we found this little treasure hidden away on old post rd square.

The place is cozy and the servers are sweet older ladies who remind me of my mom.

They provide complimentary hot tea, pickled appetizers and milk drink to help your mouth become clear of hell.

Everything we ordered was delicious and I'm so glad we didn't order more cause I was stuffed to the max.

I ordered the spicy pork in hot stone and it was delicious. Beware of the hidden jalepenos in the complimentary appetizers.

  2. Ever since Woo Jeon closed down, I have been trying to find a Korean restaurant that matches up to them.  When I saw this one in Edison, I was eager to try it out.  We ordered the Jap Chae, scallion and seafood pancake, Bibimbap, tofu/seafood soup, and kalbi.  I was really disappointed in the food as everything pretty much tasted the same.  The JapChae was mostly vegetables and not enough noodles.  The Kalbi was close to $30 and it was such a small amount.  We were better off going to Picnic Garden and having all you can eat Kalbi for around the same price.  The tofu/seafood soup was the only dish I liked.  Great tasting and not overly spicy.  I do have to commend them on their great service.  I think this is the best restaurant I've been to where I was blown away with it.  They were really accommodating and we never needed to ask them to fill up our tea or anything.  They always seemed to keep an eye on everyone's table and would even reshift the plates so that it was easier for us to reach.  They were always people coming in so they must be doing pretty good business.

  3. Ordered spicy pork with rice on a hotstone.

The rice had a bit too much water and the overall taste when mixed from top to the bottom didn't serve me very well.  I also did not see much pork for the dish as well.

I had a high expectation for this restaurant so maybe that could explain why I am giving this spot 3 stars.

However, maybe the menu item I picked is not their best.  I wouldn't mind trying this place again for an update if I get a chance.

  4. My favorite Korean spot! Beats out K-Town and the rest of Edison (in my opinion)! They have plentiful seating, though the parking lot can get quite full. You can have BBQ, hot stone pots, lunch specials 7 days a week, and wonderful service.

My family and I love to come during lunch or on the weekends for dinner. Their food is top notch and great quality, not to mention at a really great price. Lunches are never really over $10 and we have ordered set dinner A for $64.99 where we get kalbi, seafood pancake, spicy stir-fry squid, soon du bu, and pork belly. It's perfect for four hungry adults and there's always more you can order.

I always look forward to coming back and it really feels like you're at home with the folks here. Keep it up and def come here to get some real Korean food :]

  5. Double dated with another couple and we ordered a preset dinner menu which supposedly serves for two. Are you kidding me?!?!?! Their dishes were so abundant and generous, two grown men with hugh appetites could not finish all of the food.

We ordered kalbi and marinated spare ribs and I like to put the meats into my lettuce or radish wraps. The nice thing is when you run out of one of the banchan, they will gladly give you refill if you ask. The are not mind readers so you do need to ask. Some Yelpers have stated the staff is not very friendly. This is an asian restaurant. This is their friendly. It's when they eye roll you and say shi+ as they are walking away, THAT'S when the service is bad.

Will be back since my other favorite korean restaurant closed up. Heard it's because of tax evasion. Lesson learned, store owners, pay your taxes and don't act surprised when they catch you.

  6. Very classic Korean meal! I'm a fan. I came here on a weekday during lunch. They have nice lunch specials and the food is decently priced. Like most classic Korean meals, food here comes with a round of appetizers that included many pickled dishes.
FOOD : I ordered a spicy pork and rice dish and it was very good. It wasn't overly spicy in my opinion and it had lots of flavor.
ATMOSPHERE : It was a nice and clean restaurant. Many of the tables there are set up with a grill in the middle for those that want to BBQ. During this day at lunch, the tables were about half full and by the time we left, the only people left were the staff. The waiters were pleasant and nice.

  7. Chung Sol Bat was a great dining experience. We were greeted right as we walked in and seated promptly. We ordered the kalbi and the galbi (beef and pork). We were given the banchon (small side dishes to go with the BBQ meats) very promptly as well as hot tea. The meat came out quickly and the hot coals followed very quickly as well.

The waitresses cook and cut the meat for you so you do not have to cook it yourself. It can be awkward since there is someone right there next to you as you are trying to have conversation but as soon as it's all cooked you can dine more privately haha. I think this is a nice style if you aren't used to cooking the meat yourself. For me, I tend to like to cook it on my own but it was nice being served this time around.

The banchon was so good! There was a sweet squash that tasted like pumpkin, kimchi, steamed egg, veggies, and more! And of course it's unlimited so you just need to ask if you want more. I definitely recommend this restaurant for Korean food. It was delicious!

As for any Korean restaurant, expect to pay good money for the quality of marinated meats. This is pretty standard. You also need to place two orders of BBQ entrees if you want to do the BBQ, this is pretty normal amongst Korean BBQ places. For my fiance and I our bill came out to be about $50 but we had our fill! I will definitely be coming back!

  8. I've been back several times & everything has been delicious with great service. I always go with a small group & we share things & enjoy everything. We love the pajun & japjae! We always go at lunch usually on Saturday, and generally we each get a box since we like the variety. My favorite is the spicy pork. Usually when we go we are the only non Koreans! No one has had the nerve to try the black goat soup…we stay in the realm of more known dishes. Only complaint is that parking can be very tight.
