Dale Bagels

“Best bagels in Bensonhurst…check them out first thing on a Saturday or Sunday morning for a delicious treat.”

“I read reviews about bad rolls, croissants, etc. and I cannot review those items, as I am sensible enough not to order a roll from a bagel place and expect it to be amazing.”

  1. Although this is called Dale's Bagels, it is more like a deli, that does bagels.. But they do them well!! The everything bagel I had was just as others described.. Little crusty, chewey, yet not heavy or light.. Perfect.. I added fried eggs and turkey, black pepper to it, and it was delicious..

  2. Bacon, egg, and cheese on a bagel with a small coffee for $3.50. This is what keeps me coming back. One of the cheapest places to get that anymore these days in NYC. They also have so many different bagels to pick from (everything, onion, garlic, sesame, egg, pumpernickel, etc.) so that's also a plus.

My only complaint is that the bagels are very doughy. They keep sticking to the back of my front teeth with each bite. That just really bugs me. They stick on pretty snugly too. Swishing with water doesn't dislodge them, and I don't want to be sticking my fingers into my mouth during my subway ride. I know eating is not allowed on the train, but that's what true New Yorkers do!

Service here is usually pretty quick. It can get pretty busy, but the employees do their best to get everyone in and out in a timely fashion.

My biggest gripe with this place is how they have their pastries just sitting out in the open on the counter, mouth level with customers. I pity the people that actually order them and get a whole lot of customer snot and saliva with it. How is the health department ok with this?!

  3. If you go in and there's a big line,  and you don't order from Chris at the register or the brother with less hair, you're order will get messed up or lost. I might have thrown a V-8 at the other brother once, but he had given my sandwich to a Cop and I was super pissed. The other bad time to go in is when the teachers from the school a block away all come in to get coffee and lunch… they must be part owners because they always cut in front of me as if they own the place.    Im doing better with my anger issues now and I still hit up Dale Bagels at least 5 times a week.

  4. 3.5 stars
The difference between Brooklyn bagels and any other bagel is the amount of cream cheese they put inside. $3 for a scallion cream cheese on an everything bagel and let me tell you, they definitely put a generous amount of cream cheese on it. Truly making it a Brooklyn bagel! However, although the cream cheese was plenty the scallions were not. The bagel was also more like a roll than a bagel, but they certainly have a large variety of options here.
