  1. Digg Inn is my new go to place (after I got bored of Chipotle). They have either a small or large plate, you get to choose grain (or salad), protein, and up to two sides. I usually get their brown rice with their lemon chicken. Definitely get their roasted pepper sauce on the side. Their portions are large and their ingredients fresh. The place is always crowded during lunch so if possible go a little before noon or after 1:30 to beat the rush hour.

My recommended sides – tofu salad, roasted kale, roasted sweet potato, and sauteed brocolli. Oh! As a bonus, if you're gluten free or sensitive, yes they have lots and lots of gluten free options

  2. I love Dig Inn. It's one place I never need to think twice about going to.

This location still has the option of small/large plates, which I like because a small is usually enough for me! However, like all locations I've frequented they aren't consistent with the size they scoop.

The line moves quickly, so don't be afraid of it goes out the door! There are a couple tables and people don't usually linger here so that's a plus if you're waiting to sit.

  3. JVA AI Non-Salad Options – 5/5
    AI Accommodation – 5/5

This place has AI-options galore!!!!  And this with non-salad as a base. . . you can choose from brown rice, salad or, quinoa with bulgur tabbouleh.  There you go:  two AI non-salad base options just to start!

Then there are the various locally sourced animal options (or tofu, but this is inflammatory, so should be avoided).

And finally, the many, many, creative, yummy vegetable options – and most are nightshade-free!!  Hooray!  But, I did say *most*, so watch out for the kale with feta that has a few random tomatoes (though those can easily be picked out).  Also, the meatballs, as tempting as they were, naturally had tomato sauce on them.  Bummer.

Besides all this AI wonderfulness – the food is damn good!  I'll be back!

  4. I was looking for a quick spot to grab something moderately healthy to eat and came across Dig Inn on Yelp. The restaurant itself was aesthetically displeasing, but it was the kind of place that you grab and go or order, quickly eat and leave. The menus were difficult to see and find initially. I got the large order with the 5 spice meatballs, farro & barley with leek and apricrot, Sicilian cauliflower and Tuscan kale with beets and buckwheat groats. Decent portion for $12 and was filling. I was intrigued by the fact that the 5 spice meatballs were made with chicken and pork, it seemed there was more pork than chicken. It was good, but the sauce had too many spices for my liking that it made it seem too salty. The cauliflower was very light and flavorful between the parsley and the capers, but there was something crunchy and super salty in the cauliflower mix that I didn't like though, not sure what it was. The kale was good, not doused in sauce and wasn't soggy and farro was something I had never tried before. It's a grain that was a cross between quinoa and cous cous. I couldn't really taste it or what it was seasoned with because the meatball sauce overpowered it. Overall pretty good meal. I also came here under the impression that there juice and smoothies, but it didn't seem that was their main focus. I saw some juices in the front display, but had already paid and it wasn't something they asked if I wanted. The juices and smoothies also weren't on their menus. Despite that, I'd come back if I needed a quick and healthy meal.

  5. It seems that most people coming here associate organic with 5 star dining, so before I go on let me make this crystal clear… This is a lunch spot guys, you will be really disappointed if you expect anything more than that.

That said, if you're looking for solid, healthy, inexpensive lunch, this place should be right up your alley. I usually get the small plate, which is more than enough for a me (I'm a 5' 11" guy and weigh slightly more than 170lbs). I get it with the wild salmon salad, sautéed broccoli and kale. It's really good and the quality of food is well above par. I think the large plate is meant for dinner or a really hungry person.

Skip the usual buffet today, you won't regret it.

  6. Yes Dig Inn, Yessss!!! This place gets five stars for food, five stars for pricing, and five stars for efficiency.  Do NOT be alarmed by the intimidating line at lunch.  The line moves super quickly, and before you know it, you're "digging in" to some delicious food!

I stumbled upon this place on a random Wednesday and saw the line wrapped around the corner.  I decided that I had to try this place out and see what the hype was about. Thank God I did, the food did not disappoint.  In an overpriced area of midtown, it's rare to find quality food and decent portions for a reasonable price.  I'm a NJ girl, and I can easily get a filling lunch for $10 in my state.  Not in NYC, absolutely not mam :-O.  It's not uncommon to spend $15 on a fruit bowl and salad.  So to find this place, was the best thing that could've happened to me that week.

You pick a protein, a grain or salad, and two sides. The best part is all of this food is less than $10.  The portions are also very good, and the food options are healthy and delicious.  I personally am a fan of the lemon chicken, roasted kale, and roasted sweet potatoes.  The mac and cheese is delicious also.   This is a great lunch spot that offers quality food for affordable prices.  I also always feel very light after I eat the food, and don't suffer from a serious case of the itis, which is a plus.

  7. This is my fav lunch spot. I feel pretty good about eating this stuff since it's mostly veggies which aren't too covered in butter, oil, or other sauce.  You can actually stay awake in the afternoons too. 😉

The meatballs are pretty decent. Reg is 3 and a lrg comes with 5 pieces. They were my favorite with spinach and tofu. The tofu is delicious. They mix in some kind of sauce with pieces of raisins and beans. It's tasty yet guilt free!  Oh and the Mac and cheese is pretty good if you are looking for a cheat day. Don't worry, just get a healthy serving of the kale and we won't tell. 😉

  8. Such a fan!  I have this one friend who wants to meet at Dig Inn literally ever time we get lunch.  well, I haven't gotten lunch with her in a few months so I had to go on my own today.  I walked with my coworkers there and they went into Chipotle, and I went into Dig Inn.  We would meet after we got our food.  Both had long lines–I was done about 15 minutes before them.  Dig Inn's line is long, but it is speedy.

The food is so healthy and so delicious.  I get the vegetarian plate (obvi), large (obvi).  I want another choice for base, but I do not know what I want.  I am not a rice fan, the farro is "eh" and greens feels boring.  But I think that sounds like a "me" problem.

I then get the Upstate Mac–so good.  Maybe not as healthy as the other options but whatever, let me live.  Cold tofu salad–which I literally crave 6 out of 7 days of the week.  And the brussel sprouts.  It;s 2016–gotta eat brussel sprouts!  All so very delicious for less than $10.  It is filling and I feel okay about delaying joining the gym another day.
