Dougies has a great fried chicken dish that delivers much flavor And keeps a lot of their customers coming back for more. While this dish has an awesome taste it can tend to be very bony. A major fail in my book for Dougies is their frequent attempts to cheat you of your correct change. I can't stand a thief, have more respect for your customers instead of trying to get over. I have experienced this more than once at this establishment. The system of trying to memorize what customer order what is not as effective. My plate has been given away before causing me to wait longer than I should have. Sure a ticket or receipt method would help. They seem to have potential but need to lose the bad habits in order to maintain a strong customer base.
The staff has an attitude. I ordered a fish, It was rubbery because of how overcooked it was. The vegetables (steamed cabbage) were cut into large chunks and was very hard. Their version of mac and cheese, was greasy with way too much cheese which was sliding on the plate. The cashier told me it was $3.27 for a Jamaican "escovich fish" then charged me $10+ for the fish and the hard cabbage, she said it was now a meal?? Cabbage is the cheapest vegetable after corn, so I paid $7 for cabbage… ridiculous. The cake was wonderful but the food was awful.
Argh..wish I yelped this place before I left my house. I was feening..yes feening for oxtail and rice&peas. Decided not to go to bamboo garden across street (my area go to) just for a change.
I got the oxtail with rice and Mac n cheese.
Got home all excited..first taste and I knew I made a HUGE MISTAKE ;(
Rice was hard and tasteless.
Oxtail was salty as balls.
Mac n cheese was tasteless as well.
What a waste of time and money!
I would cry if I could but the salt in the meal dehydrated me out….sitting here gulping water.
I hardly write reviews on same day visit..but I had to today with this lame excuse for cooking.
I stopped in the next door place first before coming here..that place had higher yelp rating.
If you decide to buy food here, just pay me half the price and I will make you something less disruptive to your taste buds.
