  1. So the food is great. Really, really good. I love the chicken stew and the mofongo with chicharrones. And the cuban sandwiches and plantains are excellent too. It's probably the best restaurant in the neighborhood, foodwise.

The catch is that delivery can be horrible. For a while the food came quickly, but the last few times we've order it has taken over an hour and a half! And calling to check on the delivery is awful too. Last time they put me on hold three times in a row and just kept leaving me there. I'm torn–I love the food, but I'm starting the trouble you have to go through to get it is just not worth it!

  2. I came here after a quick trip to target. I've always heard about how great the food in east harlem was, so seemed like a perfect opportunity to try it out!

My friend and I were walking towards the general direction and the music immediately drew us in. It looked like a good time. We walk in and it was really nicely decorated. The bartender was prompt to seat us, but the service went down hill from there.

The waiter was kind of lacking  (like many of the other reviewers have pointed out). Definitely a downside…but that was made up for with the AMAZING food. The amount of food you get for the price is insanely good. My meal was actually a whole grilled chicken. YES thats right, an entire chicken with a side of rice and beans. However, I could not possibly ever eat an entire chicken myself so i was able to get half of a chicken instead, and the price was adjusted accordingly ($7 bucks that is)

My friend ordered the penne a la vodka and it was amazing. It definitely exceeded my expectations. The food here is definitely something a health conscious person would jump for joy for, but its some finger licking – great tasting food. I would definitely recommend it to anyone who's in the neighborhood and doesn't mind crappy service in exchange for some yummy in your tummy.

  3. My go-to lunch spot at work. I don't know if it's listed on the menu, but there are some amazing lunch specials available. Some of my favorite items: 1/4 rotisserie chicken, beef stew, pork mofongo, tres leche cake, and the Cuban sandwich. I rarely shell out more than 10 bucks, and always leave here feeling fat but jolly.

  4. I took 2 stars off of the service.

I ordered from this place 1/9/14 and the guy that delivered my food was so rude and unprofessional when he delivered the food. He was late, got lost and on top of that was annoyed with me and practically threw the bag of food at at me. I called to speak with a supervisor it took 15 minutes of phone ringing and me giving up and going to eat my food. I then got back from lunch and called again this time I get someone. But i can hear the guy speaking in the back saying let him talk. When i clearly asked for a supervisor not the rude delivery guy, and why i know this is because i speak spanish. I explained i wasnt seeking reimbursement or anything but that guy should not be delivering peoples food to customers.

The food was so delicious that i decided to try again the next day and I must say it was a better experience and the food is delicious. I wouldn't let that 1 bad apple ruin it for me but this service and affect others when it comes to ordering for deliveries.

  5. There's a place like this close to home that I frequent (in Jersey). So as much as I'm in nyc I've always wondered if/where there's something similar and just as tasty and inexpensive. I figured where else could be better to look than spanish harlem.

The prices are decent ($7 for my order). The portion could definitely be improved. Since it was my first time checking out this place, I decided to try my usual stewed chicken with rice and peas. It was good. Not great, but good. The chicken was a little tough and dry. Not my preference. I don't like my food overcooked. But the rice and peas were very good. I grabbed a menu to take with me. I'd definitely give it another try. But I'm open to trying other similar places in the area. I'll keep searching yelp!

The service was fine. I was hoping they wouldn't be rude, as I expected because sometimes its like that if you dont speak fluent spanish. And they dont care if you leave because it doesnt necessarily "make or break" their pockets. So I'm glad the service wasn't too bad.

  6. Not once during our meal did the waitress ask if we were ok or enjoying our food. And she never came to take our plates or refill our water.  Theb ketchup bottle was brand new but with the cover still on it. The food was decent but expensive, too expensive for the quality of service. I had 1/2 a chicken sandwich that she never came to collect.  We shouldn't be sitting around with a pile of dirty plates in the table, waiting for the waitress to attend to us.  They're only getting 2 stars because the food was ok and it didn't take too long.

PS I had to be buzzed into the restroom. Ghetto

  7. There were maybe two things that I liked about what I ordered but out of the 5 dishes that's not even half. The meat is ALWAYS dryyy. I guess the beans and rice what I'd give them two stars for.
