  1. I have been visiting this restaurant for 15+ years.  Honestly, I was never a fan but my last experience made me a believer! lol

This authentic Dominican restaurant has two levels. Ground level is your typical Latin restaurant with a hot plate buffet, juice and soda dispensers, diner style seating and a handful of TVs. The second floor is the complete opposite with nice décor, elegant dining tables and chairs.  The second floors also has a bar with seating.

The hospitality was top notch! Guess who was our server… the owner! You don't get more humble than that. He has an inviting personality and was incredibly attentive! A+ on service!

We celebrated my dad's birthday with a party of 15+ ppl.  We had a pre-fixed menu.  He started us with a grilled calamari salad – My God!!! Everyone wanted more!!! the calamari was grilled to perfection and the dressing was light and tasty.  The next plate was a penne al vodka with butterfly shrimp. Super saucy dish with plenty of shrimp. Considering its a Latin establishment, all the Italian flavors were present. The entrée was a choice of chicken, steak, or fish. I had the chicken which was a twist on cordon bleu recipe.  My boyfriend had the fish which was light and flavorful.  I also tried the steak which was seared based on the order.  All three options were yummy!  We brought our own cake for dessert. He provided utensils for cutting and serving.

Overall, it was a great experience. Lively music. Delicious food. Top notch customer service.

  2. Passed by this place for years without going in. Finally decided to get some food for mothers day from here. The food is great. I work with Dominicans that can vouch that this food is for real. The Sopa de Mondongo and Espagete were on point. My only issue in this place is the service..or lack of it I should say. I only go in to make orders for take out and I can literally stand in front of the register while employees walk by or talk between each other like I am not there. The only way I have been able to get food here is to actually call out to someone walking by and tell them I want to order now.

    Other than that, great food

  3. After a trying day with the family, my mother wanted spanish food. She also wanted to venture a little out of the way.
Hunger makes her do weird things.
My father suggested we hop in the car to Jamaica for one of his favorite lunch time spots. We followed along.
When we asked dad, we didnt think to question it. So when we walked in at 8 pm on a Friday night to a very LOUD and highly male populated restaurant, we gave him the eye.
"trust me, the food is good".
With all the eyes on my mother and I (the only females in the joint that DIDNT work there,) it took some getting used to. But once I settled into my seat and adjusted my ears to the extremly loud decible of drunk men, i happily placed my order.
Mom and dad ordered steak with onions. I ordered pernil with yellow rice and beans.
We also got an avocado salad that was made with the undesirable parts of the romain lettuce and were hard to pick up with a fork, there were also corn kernels and slices of cooked carrots among 3 slices of avocado. The salad was not dressed but they provided some watery vinegar and olive oil.
The steak my parents ordered was tasty but REALLY thin. Like PAPER thin. Mom didnt love it, but dad did.
My pernil was AMAZING. It was seasoned to perfection. It was Tender and juicy and the portion was huge. I shared it with my mother who was unhappy with her steak. The yellow rice was a little bland but when drenched with the red beans and sauce, was delectable. My pernil was only $8.95. a real bargain considering the size of it.
For 2 sodas, 2 steaks, 2 orders of rice and beans, a salad, an order of tostones and an order of pernil, the order came out to $40. A great deal for hte amount of food we consumed.
Its a little out of bounds and probably has a lot more testosterone than i am used to but i would return… with a few other men.

  4. I must have passed by this place a million times and was finally able to have dinner here one night after a friend came up with the bright idea.

The food is delicious! My boyfriend has eaten a lot of churassco in his lifetime and puts the steak he had here in his "Top 5". I don't eat red meat so I had the mofongo with chicken and cheese which I absolutely loved. It was nicely seasoned and not too dry.

The staff is pleasant but very sluggish around the restaurant. Our food came out fast but the check took a a very long time to come.  Perhaps next time I will do a to-go order and enjoy the food in the comfort of my home.

  5. You never get a second chance to make a first impression. This saying may seem old-fashioned to some, but it's never truer than in the restaurant business.

As soon as I walked in, the noise level was extremely high. The music was so loud I couldn't hear myself ordering my food.

I ordered the churrassco (skirt steak) medium rare. I received it so over cooked that it was tougher than the ghetto. The beans were bland but the rice was good.

The service however was terrible. My waitress sat down in the dining room and ate her food, spoke on her phone for what seemed like an eternity while I sat and waited and waited and waited for my check.

Other customers waited s long time for menus. I got fed up and finally walked over to the cashier, stated what I ordered, just do I could finally leave. Needless to say, I won't return. One star is way too high for this place.

  6. If I could give zero stars I would.

Let me list all the reasons why this place deserves no stars:

First, I should not have to wait more than fifteen minutes to place an order when the resturant is not busy.

Second, if you do not speak spanish, you should not go to this resturant! Regardless if I look hispanic, it does not mean I speak spanish. If I speak to you in english, I expect for my server to speak to me back in english not in spanish. I clearly told the server I did not speak spanish and she only spoke to me in spanish. Rude!

Third, my server messed up my order up but instead of correcting it said this is what I ordered. Excuse me I know what I ordered.

Fourth , why do I have to ask to get a drink refill? It is your job to check on your customers. It was clear that this resturant does not care to do that.

Fifth, I have never had a server argue with me and to make matters worse she still spoke to me in Spanish. Seriously!

Sixth, the food wasn't worth the price. Steak was overcooked, I did not order shrimp and the rice and beans were just okay.

Overall, it was not worth it. My order was messed up and my server argued with me. Never in my life have I had such a horrible experience before. I will never be back to this resturant again!

  7. Great decor great food great price, if you want authentic Dominican food you can find breakfast lunch dinner here no problem, good wait staff and even have a bit of a night life on the weekends with live music
