  1. Conveniently located near the 8th Avenue station on the N-line, this supermarket is enormous and has a great selection. It is also connected to a food court and mall that sells all kinds of Asian skincare products, Hello Kitty merchandise, baby stuff, etc. I don't usually come here as I prefer Good Fortune, which I think has better prices and equally fresh produce. The only plus at Fei Long is their large and convenient parking lot. However, after the owner ran over and killed a pregnant woman this past winter, I am now hesitant to patronize this place.

  2. Always been curious about Brooklyn's Chinatown, and because bf and I didn't really know where to eat we figured we'd come to this Flushing Mall esque concept and do some grocery shopping at the same time.  Fei Long is a supermarket with a food court and since we went on New year's day not many vendors were open.  Fortunate for us, two of the better ones were so we made sure to get:

    – 5 count of shrimp/pork soup dumpling from the dumpling stand on the corner
    – Delicious pork/salted egg congee with delicious twisted dough sticks (bread)- reminds me of what I had a lot as a kid and I loved loved this congee, it was surprisingly so flavorful

All this came to $10. I got a $1 back when I returned the soup dumpling bamboo steamer.

Bf went to the stand next door- a typical Cantonese joint which had a really good deal of roasted pork (good quality char siu- not the red, fatty kind), with roasted duck (fatty but good), over soy sauced-rice.  He also got a large egg noodle soup with Chinese greens and wontons, which was also good. All this for $10.

The waits can be long (especially for the Cantonese joint) and you seat yourself but I'd definitely give it a try if you're in the area…and what's better is that you can buy your Asian groceries all in the same place!

  3. avoid this place on the weekends. this place is so crowded and parking is terrible. you will literally wait for a spot for a good 15 mins. I rather go to the asian supermarkets around my area but my grandmother needed some items they would have in stock

  4. Brace yourselves. You will get trampled if you're not aggressive enough.  While it's one of the largest Chinese supermarkets, it's also the busiest. Expect people not to say "sorry" or "excuse me." You will be pushed around especially by the grandmas.  The best thing to prepare is to know what you want and out. This isn't Whole Foods where you can leisurely ponder or admire the free-range and organics. No, there's no time for that here (neither are there any organics in stock here). But I have to say, no matter how much stuff people buy, the lines here go by really quick. That's because almost every cashier line is open; unlike some of its western counterparts (ahem Key Foods).  If you're into the gimmicks, they give out free calendar scrolls after you spend a certain amount. Overall, it's a pretty well-stocked market. I would only come here for my choys.

  5. I love Fei Long. I would give it 5 stars but for two issues: I hate the way live fish are totally crammed in the tanks and I wish the employees were more helpful, but that could be a language barrier issue: it's just frustrating when I can't find something & everyone I ask either doesn't understand or points me vaguely in the right direction and walks away. I usually find what I want but it adds a lot of time to my shopping expedition. Complaints aside, the selection and quality of produce & fresh meat cannot be beat, and the shellfish is lovely. If you are the kind of person who loves a store with 5 brands of coconut milk, enough bao buns and wonton wrappers to make your head spin, and 100s of tea and spice varieties, this is the place for you.

  6. It is a supermarket and a food court all in one place. They even have a makeup, jewelry (mostly accessories), and clothing store inside.  So much snacks, food, meat, seafood etc. to choose from.  You can easily get lost inside and end up coming out a couple of hours later. I love finding new stuff to try which makes this spot perfect for me.

  7. Humongous chinese grocery story with free parking? Yes, please. Love that it's a one-stop shop for all your asian ingredients, fresh seafood, and produce. My go-to grocery store in Brooklyn's chinatown.

  8. They offer a great selection of produce and meats. The seafood is mostly all live and they have a huge selection of Asian products. Anything you could possibly need for Asian inspired dishes you can find here. The isles are tight and the people shove but that's just Chinese culture. Don't get offended. Parking is free if you are there for under an hour. Make sure to keep your receipt to show the guy at the exit on weekends.
