  1. John is my vitamin guru. And my life has been changed since the discovery of the Isagenix IsaLean smoothie mix. The little smoothie bar in the rear alone has the BEST shakes- from Green Vibrance concoctions to enzyme packed icy delights, such as the IsaLean organic smoothie.

I repeat their recipe at home- using unsweetened Almond Milk (YUM .. and only 40 calories a cup!) and some organic berries or bananas. It's absolutely delicious- and I'm *gasp* 30lbs lighter and ready for summer!

John also has a seemingly endless knowledge of vitamins, supplements and remedies. Go pay him a visit today!!!

  2. Warning, it you are a vegan/allergy sufferer/paleo/health-food nut, leave your wallet at home.  This little grocery has all you could want- pantry items, health and body care, smoothies, and more.  There were some unique paleo/gluten-free snacks like coconut "cookies," which I would describe as a naturally sweetened pastry dough cracker. It is pretty expensive, but you get quality health items.

  3. Wandered in here the other day for the first time and immediately started talking to the owner John. Seemed like a nice guy who is really into this healthy eating lifestyle. Just wish I can program my mind to stop eating all the bad stuff that tastes so good. Don't even get me started on the booze! Anyway, he really seemed knowledgeable and well versed in this field.

The store itself is small, but clean and well organized. Nice selection of health foods, vitamins and supplements. Not the type of shop like a Vitamin Shoppe of GNC, but more of a place for a healthy diet lifestyle. A place where you could imagine a nutritionist might shop at.

A bit more pricey than the vitamin chain stores in the city, but you are paying for the quality and hard to find items here, along with a touch of personal service and insight that is hard to come across nowadays.

  4. Great selection of organic produce and great prices on all their healthy products.

  5. I am not the kind of person who shops at a place called Food Liberation. I am the kind of person who makes fun of a place called Food Liberation.

    However.

I came in to find flaked coconut to make macaroons (it was right before Passover, and every other place was sold out). Of course they had the coconut (organic, natch) and a bunch of similar products I never knew existed. The owner, John, and I fell into conversation about a certain ladies health issue, and he spent half an hour explaining the chemistry of why a particular product works. (No notes, he just seems to have an encyclopedic knowledge of what he sells.) Long-story-short: The product works.

I'm not a believer in a lot of alternative remedies, and I buy only a few products here. Regardless, John is always pleasant, never pushy, and consistently willing to dispense only as much advice as you want.

In addition to vitamins/remedies, the food selection seems wide-ranging, but what do I know? They'll probably order something for you if you don't see it here. Some items seem quite expensive, but he'll offer lower-cost options with no attitude.

Everyone seems really responsive. If you can't find an item, they'll try to find it, or at least track down when it's coming in. On one occasion, John offered to deliver something for free when it wasn't in stock. Granted, it's only a few blocks away, but that's how you get such loyal customers.
