  1. Hibachi:
Came here with my boyfriend's family for his birthday dinner, we all got variations of different dishes and we were all satisfied. The hibachi chef was very interactive and made us all laugh and have a great experience; he got our large party dinner done quickly and professionally. The lychee martini was good, I am particular picky with this drink and they made it perfect.

    Take-out:
We always usually get the same thing with a new addition of appetizer here and there; all options were delicious and blended well with all of our meals. Our favorite is the super spicy tuna roll, crispy and perfection, mouthwatering and wanting more after it's done. We also get the pineapple fried rice, this one I am not that crazy about since I've had better to me it's just ehhh but we still get it because the boyfriend and I share the dish along with the sushi and he loves it.

I can't wait for warmer weather to enjoy our dinner in the water front area of the restaurant.

  2. A nice water front Asian fusion restaurant in Howard Beach where in the summer you can have a nice lunch/dinner outside or enjoy it anyway inside the place.

    Appetizer:
One of the best Chicken or Beef Satay Ive ever had, great options with peanut sauce
    Hibachi:
I always get the filet mignon & lobster combo, it comes with soup, salad, shrimp appetizer, veggies, your choice of rice or lo-mein, the hibachi is a-okay but with many hibachi options in Howard Beach this is not my first pick.

But when it comes down to sushi it's one of the best sushi in south Queens hands down.
My favorite roll is the Super Spicy Tuna Roll and it contains Spicy tuna, crab, avocado & cream cheese wrapped w/ crispy panko, served with eel, spicy mayo and sesame vinaigrette sauce. Crispy and delicious.

I always order the Chicken lo-mein or the pineapple fried rice for my son and he loves them both and usually cleans the plate because of how good both are.

  3. I enjoyed the atmosphere of this place. I'd have to say the pricing is pretty high for the food that you are receiving. All and all the sushi is fresh, and the habachi is decent. I must admit that the habachi location leaves room for it to be loud, so you can't really hear your partner because the bar and its crowd is located right there. The dinning room is close seating with a romantic setting, and the patio looks very pretty (would try to eat out there in the summer- beautiful water/boat view).  I wish the wait staff was a little more patient when it comes to paying the bill, and no one is really in the dinning area (especially during conversations). I also want to note that I went here on a Friday so that could play a big roll with the atmosphere.

  4. I left Frenasia thinking "meh".

So for the positives, it's a pretty good location. Right on the water with outdoor seating and windows on the bay if you're seated indoors. Fairly small, but not too small — it had an intimate feel being seated in the back booths. It was nice for a date. The waiter was friendly and attentive, the lychee martini was good. ($10 each) We ordered a specialty roll and a hand roll appetizer, both were really good.

Negatives: It could use an update, I'm used to newer/modern looking Asian fusion restaurants. Hibachi was overpriced but it was good. I ordered the pineapple fried rice and it was bland. I found myself sticking my fork into my fiancés plate more than my own. The hostess rejected my request to be seated outdoors on a beautiful day because SHE thought I'd be cold.

Maybe I'd come back here for the outdoor seating & sushi, but…. Maybe not…

  5. So my last experience 9 months ago was horrible but I ordered delivery tonight to give Frenasia another try after management responded to my review and apologized and promised a better experience.

I ordered a salad which was pretty good, the lettuce wraps again with shrimp which were AMAZING! And I also had a mama Mia roll. The roll was very fresh and delicious! Their quality of food has definitely gotten way better. Also delivery came in less than 30 minutes so that's definitely a plus too.

  6. When I first came here, I thought this Howard Beach restaurant would be another off-Asian restaurant serving cheap sushi to Americans who were drawn in by the gaudy decor. But I was pleasantly surprised. The first dish I must highlight was the tuna pizza. A crispy tortilla topped with tuna sashimi and guacamole serves as a great appetizer. One bite of this and I seriously contemplated whether I should've ordered one all for myself as an entree. The great selection in their prixe fixe menu won me over though. Although small, their 3 flavor sashimi is a great way to sample their deliciously fresh sashimi. I absolutely loved the tornado salmon! A moist cut of salmon ontop of a flavorful heap of noodles! The steak was also delicious and very filling. To finish our meal, we chose the sweet potato tart and fried ice cream. The tart was AMAZING. Who would have thought this under-appreciated combo would turn out so good!?
The waterfront view is a nice touch, and an incentive to sit outside. I recommend this place to those who are in the neighborhood and are looking for a nice, but casual place to eat!

  7. Used to be a nice go to spot. Simple bar and easy to access. Great menu with lots of options for appetizers and quick bites. Because of this I didn't mind putting up with a borderline dismissive waiter( slim male with tattoos and a lukewarm attitude) who thinks that putting 1 menu in between two grown adults counts as a form of welcome. He then disappeared to the other end of the bar and began to have a conversation so I had to get my second menu for myself.  That's ok.  I was there to unwind and drink anyway not chat it up.

It was annoying when the food took a while to come out. Longer than the couple that came after us…

Worst when the waiter took my soy sauce (which I was using) and gave it to another couple without asking if I was finished.  I had to request it back…. sigh…..

To top off the evening my friend went to get her car from the valet and was told that she had a flat tire. Mind you she drove in on four perfect tires….no Flats. Her car was in one spot when she arrived and they moved it to a second spot. Then stated when she came out that she had a flat tire???  Management was very unresponsive and unhelpful even after she returned to speak to them the following day.

  8. This place was Awesome. We sat in the back and which had a nice view. I had the seafood casserole which only lacked some soy sauce. My wife had two rolls which were excellent. My friends had the chicken pad Thai and snapper. Both are picky eaters and there happy.
