Fushimi Japanese Restaurant

“Parking can be a challenge; the lot is small and shared with other restaurants/shops, and on-street parking is around corner.”

“Then we realized they do have Valet and that kind of lessens the blow of the lot situation.”

“The rock shrimp tempura, goyoza, and salmon sashimi are my favorite things from there.”

  1. Great sushi restaurant on Staten Island with a fun atmosphere. Rock shrimp tempura & crispy calamari are great starters. The sunset blvd roll is my favorite roll. It is flavorful & delicious. I have sampled other special rolls, including the out of control, paradise, sex on the beach & all are delicious. Of course, no meal is complete without some fried ice cream! The bar scene is always bumping & so is the restaurant. Very trendy Japanese restaurant!

  2. I use to always pass by this restaurant at night and there was always a packed valet and just fancy cars and typical Staten Island gorillas and materialistic orange colored girls showing off and seeing whose got the best car or what hand bag or outfit from "FOXY LADY" they have on.

I have not came here on a typical date night but I came here for lunches and an early dinner the food is really good. The fish and vegetables are really fresh and it just taste so good. I also enjoy the salads such as the avocado or kani. I also enjoy things as spring rolls, steamed wontons, garlic shrimp or chicken teriyaki. I also enjoy the drinks they make, good margaritas and sangria too.

The place is very nice, dark colors and nice lightening and candles all over with those nice table decors. They have nice booths too and even have some private areas and theres also an outside area in the front thats like a lounge hang out area which is nice when the weather is warm. I know they have ladies nights on Thursdays and also live music which is good. Im not crazy about the crowd cause its typical wanna be Jersey shore and you see every same hair style, shirt and same MK watches because thats how small of a world it is and theres no diversity.

Im all about the food and thats all I am writing about, I enjoy the sushi very much by far the best on the island and theres also one in Brooklyn which is good too. I enjoy take out too.

  3. This is a Staten Island staple.  Sushi places come and go.  This one has stayed!  They did remodel and experiment with almost being a lounge at times.  I'm not sure if they still have a dj some nights.  They seem to always have a Groupon.  Their prices are about one third higher than they should be so I suggest taking advantage of their deals.

I like to begin with the goat cheese appetizer.  It can be split among 4.  Their tuna pizza is good too.  As far as specialty rolls my top two favorites are American Dream and Paradise Roll.  The kani on top of American Dream is always fresh and flavorful.  Then with the Paradise Roll I like how the banana compliments the fish.  The speciality rolls are small for the price.

The place is trendy.  It's great if y'all are looking to impress a date.  They accept Open Table reservations for 100 points.

  4. From the outside, you wouldnt think its as nice as it is inside. The decor is very sheik, I almost felt like I was at a Japanese restaurant in the city. This is a great place for a date night or a dinner with the family.

The service is very friendly, and they are not on your case to order and get out. They let you be and take your time. The food is very delicious and fresh and served beautifully.

The only complaint, the parking is horrible. If your not there at the right time then you may have to circle a bit.

Overall great experience and I definitely recommend this spot!

  5. This is a great fun place. Decor is modern and upscale, music is upbeat, and food is delicious (and presented beautifully I must say).
I do not go there for sushi, as it's not extraordinary to me. Their main entrees and club atmosphere, however, making me come back for more. They have amazing specials from time to time, so be adventurous and try them, definitely! From regular menu, risotto & lobster tail is a winner.
Great place for hot date or night out with friends!
(Keep in mind prices are on high side for the Island. )
Update: food here is impeccable. All 5 star, no doubt. They changed some dishes around for better. I am seriously impressed.

  6. I would say this is one of the best sushi places in Staten Island. It's definitely commercial Japanese food…but I don't mind since it tastes good.

Their tuna with truffle oil and their yellowtail with jalapeno are my favorite! You also can't go wrong with the sushi rolls.

I've never had a bad experience here. Service is good too. I will definitely go back.

  7. I went here for a get together with an old friend and this was their restaurant of choice. I still stand by my old review how their basic sushi rolls are terrible but the only reason I'm adjusting my review was based on the customer service we experienced. I believe the waitresses name was Sauki (I'm so sorry if I completely messed up her name, I do believe that was what it said on her name tag but I could be wrong). I have never had a waitress that professional and attentive. She made this to be one of our most plesent dining experience that I've had in a very long time, espically on Staten Island.

We did get the sashimi and sushi delux for two and the fish was super fresh and they didn't go crazy on the rice which was good. Really enjoyed that. Warm chocolate cake for desert was also outstanding, highly recommend trying that.

  8. It's got a very sexy atmosphere. I suppose if you are looking to meet someone, go for happy hour, but hit the ATM first. Not cheap!

As for the sushi, it's nothing to write home about. I just didn't taste like much and whoever made it both times I was there did NOT do a good job on the rice. I've honestly had better sushi from a hole in the wall then his place that boasts about how great it is.
