I like Gems, the counter people are fast and friendly. The be false are made fresh on site daily and so are the specialty cream cheese spreads. They are generous with the spreads and the coffee is consistent.
I'd say prices are a bit high but obviously things are working because they have been in this location for a long while now and they are always very busy.
Really solid boiled bagel with lots of cream cheese. Great consistency. Loyal following.
Sadly this Gems bagels is not like the store i frequent in Hazlet near Toys R Us. Gluten free should mean gluten free! I watched the guy make my sandwich and it was so cross contaminated, he even cut it with a knife he just cut another bagel with and continued to use another knife to put mayo on it……..asked for plain no dressing. I'm just saying if you go to the trouble of carrying gluten free, we'll try to keep it that way. I didn't complain because I was with business people and just wanted to get out of there. Gems Hazlet is so careful if I ask them to make me something. So I didn't eat the food, I took it and gave it away because I guess I wasn't specific enough. So my point to all those with a Gluten allergy be very clear. One of the people I was with had a chicken parm and they really enjoyed it.
