  1. Gogo Curry is actually even less frills than I thought it would be. You have to be careful if you're going to try and find this place, as the sign is actually very small, as is the restaurant itself.

When you step inside, the first things you'll notice is the fact that there isn't really anywhere to sit. There are about two tables, but unless you're willing to share one with someone, I doubt you're going to be able to eat by yourself.

As for the food itself, they really only serve one thing here. You can get plain Japanese curry, or curry with katsu (fried pork/chicken), sausage, and curry with some other add ons as well. There are multiple different sizes, but I think the standard size people get is the "walk" size, since most people get it to go (again, the small eating space). I tried the pork katsu, which was not too bad. I think I could have gotten more food, but oh well.

They have a credit card minimum of $10 which is pretty annoying. I think if it weren't for this, I would have given them four stars, considering the speed at which they prepare your food is pretty quick.

  2. Sometimes you have a craving from a past life that just must be satisfied. For me, the katsu curry bug hit me last week, and could not be denied.

Place is a simple hole in the wall, where the single chicken katsu curry will run you about $8 and change. The chicken is on the thinner side, and not that big of a portion, the whole dish with the rice ends up being more than enough food to leave you satiated. The rice itself is superb… Don't know what kind of grain they use, but it's perfect with the katsu curry. I opted for the curry sauce on the side, which again seems like a small contained, but ends up being perfectly sufficient.

For me, this place just satisfies the craving, and for something like katsu curry, it's hard to complain.

  3. This is my first time at this location. I've been to the other Go Go Curry near Penn Station. This location is a bit smaller. Only 2-3 tables. Food is still excellent.

I got the Pork Katsu Curry walk. I should have gotten the Single which is only 50 cents more. Anyways, the Walk is a decent size.

What else can you say? Curry is the ultimate comfort food. Nicely battered, fast service, no frills.

  4. It's a grungy little hole-in-the-wall with a couple of tables. We had the pork katsu curry. It's fine with you're looking for food to soak up all the alcohol sloshing around your stomach after a long night of drinking (except they're not open at 2 am).

It's not my kind of place, but it could be yours.

  5. Good, quick fix for Japanese curry by Washington Square and NYU. Fairly priced. I believe it's about $7 for the single-sized katsu curry. Consider taking it to-go and going to the park on a nice day because there is very limited seating.

  6. Damn if it doesn't take a minor miracle for them to pick up their phone around lunch time but when you gots the Go Go curry craving what can you do.

I guess online ordering if the next step.

Homerun pork katsu all the way.

  7. Three stars.

I was one of those people who was in the long line on their opening day. Since then, I used to come here all the time while I was a student at nyu mainly for one reason: it's cheap. Compared to the price, the food is pretty good too. I mean, who would say no to carbs and fried meats. Not too healthy, but very addicting.

This place is very small. Consider taking it to the park if the weather is favorable.

  8. I love go!go!curry! I mostly frequent this location and the one in the financial district. It's a cheap and quick and easy meal without feeling like fast food.

The curry contains pork and is the perfect consistency of not too thick and not too loose. It also has a noticeable level of spicy by default, which I enjoy. My regular is the chicken katsu curry, and the single size is enough to fill me.

The shop itself is small but welcoming. There are 3 tables, and dining in is worthwhile to get the katsu at its crunchiest and the curry at its hottest.
