  1. Had some Turkish coffee and chocolate cake here. The cake was average but the coffee was good.

Not much going on here but they did have a big baklava selection, a few cakes, and a few other baked goods.

  2. So many options! I've tried various baklava's from here and enjoyed them all.  I love that they have a sugar free option. You can clearly taste the difference but it's still good! The prices range from $1 – $1.5

  3. I came here late at night, just as the cafe was just about to close. The door was actually locked, but my boyfriend knocked on the glass and one of the workers was nice enough to let us in. She actually made a fresh pot of coffee and suggested that I try some salep. I'm now addicted and it's my new favorite winter drink. I would definitely come here again, especially since the workers are so friendly and polite.

  4. Why is it every time I order my Turkish coffee the way I like it, the ladies behind the counter make it exactly how they want? Here's the play by play…

Walk up to counter. Lady smiles, "Yes?" I say that I want a Turkish coffee with 3 sugars and milk. Eyes bulging out of her head she replies, "3 sugars???" Yes, 3 sugars. She proceeds by saying that it's too much for the small cup. I say to put it in the "American" sized small. I am thinking, what it the big deal woman. It's just sugar. It will melt. Then she tells me only a little milk will fit. I tell her I like it on the milkier side, so just put a little more milk to water. "Okay, I put a little milk." Ummm…fine. What she said. The coffee arrives, with literally a drop of milk. I still thank her and she just shakes her head at me, like a parent whose child has asked them to pick out all the peas from their bowl of rice. Takes ten minutes to cool down and for the grounds to settle. Finally I can drink it and while quite good, it is not the way I like it.

A sharp contrast is the Gulluoglu in Astoria, where I order my Turkish as above and I get a smile without questions save for "to stay or to go." There's nothing wrong with 3 sugars and a little milk my Eurasian friends. Get it together and fix your facial expressions!!!

  5. My friends and I came here for the Turkish coffee! I normally like to drink my coffee with milk and sugar, but the coffee here was so rich and smooth that I regretted asking them to put milk in it! The ladies who work here are really nice and this place has nice comfy seating although limited. They have a large selection of baklava and all of it looked really delicious, but I am absolutely ADDICTED to their pistachio turkish delight! This place is definitely out of the way, but it's a must try if you're in the area.

  6. We tried Gulluoglu Baklava & Cafe to sit down & eat more food.  We got a bunch of pastries & shared it.

My pistachio baklava was pretty tiny & good.
Coffee w/ milk I had there in a ceramic cup was fine.
Some spinach pastry w/ noodles inside was ok, others didn't like.

    Worth a stop.
