  1. Let me start by saying I'm not Haitian, but my boyfriend (he grew up in Queens) is.  We have stopped into this places 2-3 times when in town visiting his family. While the food is tasty, it's just a bit on the greasy side for me. However, it's still pretty good. I gave this place a 3 because it's either hit or miss when it comes to the meat. There has been times when my boyfriend is a little disappointed with the food. One thing for sure, his stomach always hurts after eating the food. However, I never have any problems, but I don't consume a lot because it's too much grease for me. This place usually has a nice customer base, there's always people in there waiting for food. The line does move a little slow because you usually are waiting for the food to be cooked. Which I understand. The ambiance is nothing glamorous. It's your standard mom & pop restaurant. The focus is on the food. I'm sure we will probably go back the next time we are in town.

  2. Let's talk Creole Cuisine. Having resided in Queens Village for years and knowing many Haitians,  I have developed a very sophisticated palette. In search of legit creole fritaille (fried everything) I stumbled upon this buffet restuarant.  Ideal for take out like many haitian owned restuarants.

This place doesn't have much of a ambiance,  decorated like your aunt's kitchen with very few seats. Again, this place is ideal for dish out and go service.

I am addicted to Picklès. Pickled style cabbage with hot peppers (very similar to what is served with Jamaican Escovitch style fish). Haitians eat it with everything.  I ordered baked chicken, fried pork (Griot), fried Okra (ackra), white rice, black rice and ofcourse haitian style macaroni and cheese (served with Ziti style noodles). I believe I spent $12 a plate, which was well worth the quality and HUMONGOUS portion provided.

If you're in search of a distinct home cooked meal, you must visit.
