Herbs Thai Bistro

“This is not really a nice sit down place, so I'd recommend for pick up or delivery, or if you're a solo diner that wants a quick eat.”

“I recommend the chicken satay roti wrap, bok choy wonton soup and I'm wild about their classic entrees, particularly the cashew nut mixture.”

“Lunch delivery review: I usually order from Rhong Tiam or Sukhumvit.”

  1. Super delicious and authentic Thai food in the neighborhood! The last few restaurants that were in Herbs' spot shuttered relatively quickly, but I really hope Herbs is here to stay!

There used to be a Chinese dumpling take-out restaurants in Herbs' place, so when you walk in, you still get a feel for that type of décor. Herbs has done a really good job sprucing it up tho, with chalkboard signs and little rustic additions here and there.

Fiance and I typically order the noodle dishes (Pad Thai, Pad See Ew, Drunk Man Noodles – ALL GOOD!) but we did venture out and get the Basil Pork dish, which was superb. Everything we've had thus far, we've loved! Portions are huge so don't be turned away by the seemingly high prices. The lychee Thai iced tea is amazing as well!

They also serve juices, but let's be real, once you walk in and get a whiff of the amazing food aroma, you're not gonna get away with ordering just a juice.

This is not really a nice sit down place, so I'd recommend for pick up or delivery, or if you're a solo diner that wants a quick eat. SOOOO good!

  2. I happened to be in the area for work and noticed the crowd of people in this place.  I'm glad I decided to check it out.

I ordered a lunch special: chicken in red curry with rice, which comes with a spring roll.  The spring roll was very nice.  The chicken was great and the red curry had a wonderful spicy kick.  The green beans were well-cooked, but firm.  I don't like overcooked, mushy veggies, so this was perfect for me.  The other veggies were also nice and mixed well with the meal.

The place has some stools for sitting, but I'd recommend it more as a take-out place.  My office is a bit away, so I decided to stay.  Thankfully, most of the people were having take-out orders, and I easily found a spot.

While the place was crowded, the people working there were reasonably efficient and our waits weren't long.  The woman at the cash register was also very nice and answered my questions about the menu.

Speaking of the menu, I saw many things that I wan't to try in the future, such as a salad with Peking duck.  The Nutella roti sounded intriguing on its own, but the good Yelp reviews also make me want to try it in the future.

If you work in this area, I'd definitely recommend coming here and taking it out.  As for me, I definitely plan to schlep out to this place when I have the urge for Thai food.

  3. They are new, prompt, and yummy. Their medium shrimp basil fried rice is spicy enough and delicious, filled with a rich aroma and fresh herbs. Their shrimp/chicken dumpling is good too. They were quick and ready with my order when I arrived. Inside is very small and seats about 5-8 people. There was a crowd inside waiting for pick-up, it's a hit!

One of the better Thai spots in the neighborhood 🙂
Oh and drinks are $4, the shrimp fried rice came up to $11-12 for me.

  4. Lunch delivery review: I usually order from Rhong Tiam or Sukhumvit. Sukhumvit is off my rotation after the last drunk man noodles being practically inedible from the overwhelming oiliness. Rhong Tiam is pricey for lunch, as they don't have lunch specials. So I gave this place a try and ordered their drunk man noodles. The food was 3 stars- lacks flavor. BUT in light of the price and delivery time (less than an hour), I'm giving it 4 stars. I'll try other dishes- pad thai is up next.
I didn't get the loyalty card since I ordered online- next time I'll ask for one!

  5. Wow. Herbs Thai is so good.

Better than your typical Thai spot.

Tasty food, generous portions, fresh ingredients, friendly service.

I ordered chicken prikking (string beans, green peppers and chicken sautéed in a chili paste sauce).

I was impressed with: The flavor, quality of ingredients and portion.

They did not skimp on quantity and used fresh veggies and really healthy white meat pieces. All for $11. And it tasted superb!

I also got the fresh roti with massaman curry (a nutty coconut curry)for $6. Definitely tasty, but a little pricy compared to their other options.

Tip: An entree can easily be shared by two people; it also comes with a small box of white rice.

Thanks for the great find, Yelp!

  6. Have lived in time sq area for sometime and really enjoyed lots of decent Thai places in that neighborhood, what I'm looking for is more an authentic flavor after all. So my colleague and I decided to pay a visit to this little place not so close to our office as we heard good words on it. Really tiny, so would suggest take-out rather than dine-in.

Opted for the drunken noodle with chicken while asked for the less oily option. The chicken meat was cooked very tender and with lots of flavor, it was also at the right level of spiciness. At 11 bucks, quite a bargain in this neighborhood.

Would love to try their Thai ice tea next time visiting.

  7. For pricing and quality of food, this place is definitely worth a try for take-out. The restaurant is nicely decorated for a take-out place.  The service was nice and quick in servicing considering how the food is freshly made upon ordering.

I ordered the spicy beef basil over rice. It came with salad with a thousand island-like dressing and an egg roll. All of that was for $9! Totally worth it! The portions were big and I was happily full by the end of it. The salad was nice and crisp, as was the egg roll. The white rice was cooked perfectly with that awesome jasmine rice aroma. The beef was tender and fully seasoned from the basil sauce. It complemented the rice wonderfully. It was easy to devour the whole thing and I definitely would love to go back and try some of their other rice/noodle dishes.

  8. Great Thai option in Midtown

Had my co-workers show me this spot for lunch. They have an extensive selection of the typical Thai food. They offer a few lunch specials, yeah buddy specials. I went with the Thai Dumpling to start and Padthai with Chicken for the main. Both were tasty and I'm looking forward to coming back here for another lunch visit.
