Only been here once, and only for a few rolls, so my review isn't thorough.
The rolls we had: tuna, spicy tuna, salmon, yellowtail. Solid. Exactly what you'd expect at any typical sushi place in any North American city, mall, suburb. Nothing more or less.
Minus point for curt, unfriendly service.
Plus point for outdoor seating.
And note that despite being called a sushi place, Hiro is owned by Ollie's and serves a full menu of Chinese food.
Another outpost of the Ollie's chain this one is definitely more out of the way, on a street I never even knew existed (quite humbling). They have an extensive menu that includes sushi and Cantonese dishes. We were here for Chinese New Years Eve (was hoping for more festivities, but really appreciated the kind stranger who wished our whole table a Happy New Year).
Service was polite, you can get a whole fried fish, half duck etc. but my favorite was broccoli with the garlic sauce, simple yet delicious. The steamed veggies with tofu was bland and boring because no sauce was supplied with it.
My only complaint was that the first few rounds of hot sake were barely warm.
I ordered beef chow fun to go after work. Service was just like how it would be in Chinatown — to the point without any niceties. It's fine but $10+ for beef chow fun?! It wasn't even good. The color was pale and it was basically a bowl of fried starch with a few pieces of beef and snow peas. There aren't many options for Chinese food in this area, but I won't be coming back.
