  1. Really creative menu and well made food. Their breads are amazing and their breakfast sandwich is really good, though good luck getting them to actually make it spicy. Also the people who work there are very nice.

I recommend sitting outside when the weather permits it

  2. Such a treat to finally get to go here and taste their food.  We ordered the chicken pelmeni, borscht (hot), lamb pilaf, and a cottage cheese cookie.

Overall, I was very satisfied. Everything was yummy, but my faves were the lamb pilaf (so delicious and flavorful!) and the cottage cheese cookie.  I can only imagine how amazing the cookies must be when they first come out of the oven. *salivates*

The meat inside the chicken pelmeni was quite flavorful but the dough was a bit thick for me. The dipping sauce was great — a spicy soy sauce.  And the borscht, that was tasty and super healthy.  So excited to go back and try their other items. Staff (one guy behind the counter) was really nice as well.  Total gem in the neighborhood!!

  3. Having majored in uzbekistani/Korean/Russian cuisine, imagine my surprise and delight to find such a restaurant right in Jc! Fine, you caught me, I was a Buddhism major, but you don't care about that.

Here's what the affable owner told me: they don't consider pilaf to be rice. Rice can be cooked in a rice cooker. Pilaf starts with cooking the lamb, carrots and spices in oil, then the rice grains are added. It is a delicate balance. Too much oil, it doesn't work, too little, it burns. Timing is critical too. He is the Walter White of pilaf.

Better call Saul, because this grub is so good it should be illegal. Not hit you over the head with flavor good, but nuanced and subtle deliciousness that builds momentum with every bite. By the end of my $7 "large" container of non-rice, I was as hooked as if I'd just smoked an ounce of the blue stuff.

Cottage cheese cookies, same story. Bite one, pretty good. Three cookies later, I'm fiending for more.

I want to give 5 stars, but need one more trip to solidify the coveted perfect score. Lagman, you're up next.

A little off the grid, but it's not a trailer in the desert. Just get there!

  4. I got food from here twice –  spicy lamb sandwich is awesome,  I can't recommend it enough. It's flavorful,  juicy and has just the right amount of spiciness. I like that there is a bit of pepper,  mushroom in the sandwich to add to the flavor and texture.

Second time I got lamb pilaf,  right when the cook took it out of the stove. God,  it was hot,  flavorful and tender. However,  it is a bit oily and $8 for a tiny serving is too pricey

  5. Definitely one of my favorite stops during a trip here earlier this month. Lots of interesting flavor mixes here, with all the pastries and drinks looking really good. Employee was super cool and helpful, and the prices weren't too bad at all. Ended up trying lots of cookies: chocolate chip (good), peanut butter (tasty), sea salt shortbread (good), oatmeal (very very good), cottage cheese (so good!) and almond (chewy and the best!). I'd like to say the drink I tried was cardamon mango lemonade (insanely yummy) but I may be wrong on an ingredient there. Hope to visit again soon and if you're ever nearby, you should go!

  6. Cottage Cheese Cookies, 'nuff said. Okay, fine–I'll write more.

Although I found myself wanting to try their veal dumplings or chocolate Chak-Chak, the cottage cheese cookies are the main reason why I literally drove around the area for forty minutes looking for parking. I was here twice. The first time I stopped by, the owner told me that there wouldn't be a fresh batch for at least an hour. I left for about forty five minutes and came back ten minutes before the cookies were ready to be removed from the oven. All that driving, all that waiting, and all that horn honking–it was all worth it!

Based on all of the other reviews, I trusted my fellow Yelpers and ordered two packs for $10–ten cookies total.

All I can really say is WOW! If only I tried one while paying, I would've ordered the entire batch. They are THAT good. For the record, the batch I bought was literally fresh from the oven. The outside of the cookie is sugary, giving you a slight crispiness with each bite, while the middle is super soft and moist. I know sharing is caring, but straight up–I will order an entire batch of these cookies and keep them all to myself the next time I'm here.

Aside from these amazing cookies, there are also sea salt shortbread cookies, Khrustiki, almond cookies, and other homemade desserts and pastries. If you're looking for something heavier, they serve lamb pilaf, Uzbek samosas, vegan borscht, spicy lamb steak sandwiches, and many other dishes. Well done, Honey Bakery. Well done.

  7. Honey Bakery is a gem in the McGinley Sq. neighborhood. I live around the block from this restaurant and am so happy because the food is absolutely delicious. I ordered the bulgogi dinner for two. It comes with 5 small side dishes of different pickled vegetables and regular vegetables. They may look small but the taste is so bold and fresh! They give you fresh lettuce so that you can make wraps with the rice, marinated beef and sides. The meat is so tender, juicy and flavorful. To finish, my bf and I split a cottage cheese cookie. The only problem was that I didn't think to order more! (Won't make that mistake again.) The cookies are amazing. Inside the restaurant there are a few small tables but the decor is bright and colorful. There is also convenient outdoor seating. If you are trying to accommodate a large group of people I would order it to go. I can't wait to try more on the menu!

  8. Is kind of tucked away and doesnt seem like much but is a pleasant surprise. The owner and cook seems to even to really be into his creations and is very welcoming when entering. I had the zesty chickrn sandwich is was very good.  Loaded with pepper and onions on a crispy bun, it was very filling had a delicious grilled taste, it also had an orange zest flavor and looks he grated qn orange on it before grilling. My only problem with it was it had mushrooms in it along with the other ingredients. Blech. I don't remember seeing it in the meal description either.

I also had a little of the egg sandwich which was similar to the chicken sandwich but had little differences and less mushroom. Again great though aside from that. There is some seating inside and some outside as well but I'd say get your food to go here if its crowded. In addition to interesting meals there are all kinds of cookies and baked goods made here. The cottage cheese cookie was way tastier than it sounds. The owner cooks and will even bring out your food which is very nice. For a unique menu with great service come here, but get take out if its crowded.
