  1. I haven't had a decent bagel and breakfast since we visited Il Caffe Latte last spring. I miss this place.
And the coffee was just the way I like it: hot, tasty, and strong.
i can't wait to go back.

  2. HMM…

This place is definitely a spot that you would say is "cozy."

I think sometimes work can be boring so I like to be friendly, I'm an extrovert. Im pretty funny [at least I think so?] so usually I try to be funny with my waitress/waiter to make their day better. My waiters were NOT having it no matter what. It actually made things awkward for my table…I guess he wasn't in a comical mood. Anyway…

The food wasn't too bad. I had the french toast with fruit but that's literally all that comes with it [they have no turkey bacon which is big for me] and it wasn't the best i had. The coffee was NOT too good either.

However, the carrot cake and brownies are AMAZING. Definitely intimate enough to talk and hold a great conversation which i liked.

I would go again if there was no other place.

  3. You know how a lot of reviews in this area start or end with something like "It's good… for Harlem"? That phrase really irritates me, but saying that about Il Caffe Latte is an insult to Harlem rather than to the restaurant itself.

I order a bagel with lox. It comes with tomatoes and capers and onions.
ME: Can I please also get some lettuce on that bagel as well?
WAITRESS [sourly]: We don't have lettuce.
ME: [eyes zooming in on the giant part of the menu that says SALADS] Um…

I don't want to sound like I have an anger problem, kvetching about lettuce, but that's just inexcusable service. Not to mention I'm not sure what was worse, the way the lox looked or the way they tasted. If you want to order some sub-par food that takes way too long to receive and you love getting either a) ignored or b) treated like shit, go for it.

It's just a big bummer because it's right around the corner and I would love to be a regular. The only reason I'd give it another chance is its proximity to my apartment.

  4. We walked in to the cafe and there was no one to greet us. It's a small place, but there was plenty of staff there. They all ignored us.

I asked a staff member who was walking by if we could seat ourselves and she said no, that we'd need to wait for a table for two and it could be a while even though there was an empty table for 4 available. Shortly after she told us not to seat ourselves a woman by herself sat down at the empty table for four.

The staff member then just walked away and we went back to being ignored. It was also very hot in the cafe like there either was no air conditioning or it wasn't working. It was a disappointing experience as we were looking forward to having breakfast there.

We ended up walking out and around the corner to Amy Ruth's where there was a/c, we were greeted with a smile and seated immediately. Big difference.

We were visiting from out of town. Next time we visit we will not be going back to Il Cafe Latte.

  5. Caffe latte gets 5 stars for always being on point. I order catering from here regularly for work events.

The service is great. I speak with the owner anytime I need to place an order. She is always available and accommodating to our budget and needs. And the delivery guy always comes 15 minutes early. Which is a definite plus!

Everyone especially loves their penne alla vodka, hot paninis and the mixed greens salad. We've also ordered their assortment of quesadillas, chips with salsa and quac. Which was also a definite hit.

They're always my go-to when I need a crowd pleaser on a time crunch.

  6. Not a bad place for bunch. The salmon burger is nice and juicy. The chicken pesto panini was really good as well.

This is a relaxing place to grab a coffee and a bite to eat.

Overall: might return, there are a lot of good options in the area.

  7. Stopped in for a coffee to go and left with a slice of coconut cake!  Tasty and moist.  I would go back to try other food.

  8. Cute little spot to have a coffee (or a chai latte, as is the case) in Harlem. Their pies are a perfect accompaniment to the drinks, and just the fact that we need to support local mom & pop shops versus Starbucks makes for a good reason to go here. They have wifi too, and way more food than the Bucks (not to mention wine and beer). Nuff said.
