Jekyll & Hyde

“The actors and staff are highly trained and deserve a very special mention for their attentiveness, quick wit and skilled sense of humor.”

“There is a butler whose sole job it is to walk around trying to freak out the diners – or at least make them blush.”

  1. I like quirky wierd thngs. I brought my friend here because she did not believe me when I described this place, t is like lunch in a haunted house, All gimmicks, food is OKAY, but go for the ADHD stimulation of talking ghosts and BEERS. We had burgers and they were fine, mildly overpriced but it's NYC, people. Kids seem to  likel this place but with a few beers it gets fun.

  2. Cool and silly and creepy haunted fun restaurant experience! Especially great for the kid old enough not to get spooked by talking creatures in the wall etc and fab for the kid at heart.

My son is not always easily entertained as a boy with the cool factor going on —  and he was smiling laughing grinning the entire time. The actor/ servers were awesome fun and friendly. From the goofy host claiming not to be a host telling silly jokes to the guy taking us to the table to the occasional wall and ceiling entertainment to the butler who does an impressive card magic trick at the table
To the main entertainer who climbed walked about and told silly jokes throughout, engaging the customers  – fantastic job ! (Engaging girls at a neighboring table then my son at ours –
Telling him to smell her hair if he had the chance … And then to watch out for girls like that – They're beautiful but crazy")  He could read who to engage and what to say even to the kids and tweens and teens.

Oh and not to forget the jeckyl anecdote/  injections / shots served by a pretty gal.  (Rum for adults and Shirley temple for kids) – she fed my son the shot –  Yes, my son's first shot with a pretty girl…. And I was there… Such a special mom moment!

Then there's the fun book case find .. Not to be given away or missed.

The food – I read  bad reviews so was expecting a hamburger disguised as a steak… But our food – the tomato/ mozzarella appetizer as well as the steaks with asparagus and potatoes – were great !

Drinks – I had their signature cocktail (too sweet for me) and another marvelous drink that I loved.

I'm baffled by the negative reviews since this is really a cool fun experience that is really a unique kind of place- I'm not sure what people expect to be so down on such a great spot.. Maybe out of line expectations? If people want thee best steak ever I think they should go to thee best steakhouse.  If they  want a romantic date couples should find a quiet place with candles and not  here where you will laugh and be entertained and amused by silly characters… If in want of a plot and full story line for entertainment, a Broadway show for $200 may be a better option . However for a fun time with laughs and silliness in a creepy cool restaurant with friendly fun service – Jekyl and Hyde is perfect. And yes you're paying a bit more for food but the haunted decor in the walls, as well as the servers/ creepy fun staff , are part of the experience and they are not free/ volunteers.

Highly recommend – food, fun service attentive service silly service creepy service…  were great . And saying I saw my son's first shot w a pretty girl- – well, priceless !

  3. Atmosphere: fun, loud, and interactive are the three words that come to mind when I think about Jekyll and Hyde. Good place for kids and adults.

Service: service is good, but on a busy Saturday night it can be a bit slow.

Food: the calamari and the popcorn shrimp are good and fresh. I have had the calamari with the sweet chili sauce on and on the side. It was better with sauce on the side not because it was too spicy or sweet, just made the batter texture a bit soggy. Main course for me was a California burger, I love this burger and I get it every time i go. The meat and ingredients are fresh. My fiancé had the margarita pizza and he enjoyed it as well.

You must have a sense of humor to dine here. It is very animated and the show is loud. Not a place u want to go to for conversation.

  4. I've been to Jekyll & Hyde twice.  The first time, we stumbled across the restaurant while roaming the village one night.  I had actually never heard of it and had no idea it was a themed / entertainment type restaurant. My friend was visiting from Chicago so it was a nice little surprise after we were seated.  It was a Saturday night so it was definitely busy, but the service was still great.  The entertainers were at our table often and gave us several shout outs- probably because we are a bit crazy and entertaining people ourselves =) The food was awesome too!

The second time, the entertainers were still great and so was the food, but the restaurant seemed to have a dirty smell- like beer had been sitting on the floor for a very long time.  We also had fruit flies flying around our table constantly. And the bathrooms are super run down and disgusting-like something from a horror movie.

I am hopeful it was just an off night for them.  Otherwise, great place to go with friends!

    NY Manhattan West Village

    Four Stars

I believe that I came here when I was ten years old and love the experience. The one by Central Park closed down so we went to one in the West Village. It was nostalgic and very cheesy. The place was empty so we sat at a table by the Sphinx. The show started off with a Q&A with a Gargoyle. It was decently funny. We enjoyed a round of drinks. I had the alter ego which had vodka, kaluha, and baileys. We then listened to Sphinx's speech. Tiffany ordered a pizza which she admits was a mistake.  The crust was house-made, doughy, with a light bit of char. It was way too saucy. The Low fat mozzarella was melted but no other redeeming quality. The steampunk guy walking around was funny, punny, and at very least interesting. The entertainment was geared to 10 under but still fun-ish as an adult.

There is $3 entertainment fee, which is not bad.

  6. Call me crazy! I enjoyed the food. It was a special occasion so this was the tourist spot selected. I had the steak, mashed and asparagus. I was very happy. It doesn't take much to please me!
I get the fact it is a theme restaurant. I would like to return just for the food. I really don't want to be frightened or entertained in a dark scary place while I'm eating. Not good for digestion. I'd be running to Rite Aid for the tums!
Service was fine, everything was timely. Unless I'm going with someone that insists they have this experience, I will pass next time.
    Great for tourists.

  7. Very cool interior if you're a fan of the macabre and like this type of horror themed restaurant/bar. (Which I am a fan!)

We didn't get food, so my review is only based on the experience we had at the bar.

The drinks were good, served by friendly staff and the bar was not overly packed so we could all sit together.

I mainly just love the horror theme inside, it feels like you've stepped into a classic monster movie (I've heard they do dinner shows, similar to a murder mystery which I think sounds great)

If you're looking for somewhere unique, out of the box and interesting this is the place for you.

  8. The best part of my experience was eavesdropping on the gossip of which employees hate one another, and at one point one of them insulted another one over the loud-speaker but it was thinly-veiled by a joking contest involving one or the automated robots, and then they all cackled in delight afterward… But otherwise — the atmosphere is decent for a pub, the food is decent for a pub, and it's actually a nice escape from the bustle happening outside.
