  1. Sad to see how far down hill this place has sunk…. Formerly a great go-to byo. For dinner and a great meet up lunch spot. A $11 3 course lunch went from delicious to dangerous. Feeling the effects of the severely undercooked chicken satay appetizer as I write. I was halfway done with the appetizer trio of chicken and spring rolls by the time I noticed the raw translucent pink flesh at the center of the skewered chicken. Their reaction to my concern bordered on being annoyed with me! They attempted to leave the plate of raw and regurgitated poultry on the table, shrugging telling me they will prepare me another skewer but the rest of the food on the plate was mine to eat or not!!! OMG… I was waiting for Ashton Kutcher to inform me I have been punked by the salmonella squad! My stomach is a mess…. Farewell, and good riddance.

  2. Revisited Khun Thai.

This time the service was much better.  The pad Thai was a bit sweet so I asked for some fresh chilis and vinegar to balance it out.  They were very gracious and even offered two other varieties.  Thusly, my ratings for them got bumped up.

The food is still very average but that's not to say it's bad.  Not necessarily as authentic as I want but still good for the market they serve.

The menu has the basics that appeal to the American diner, the kind that also like American-Chinese food.  I'm one of them but I do wish there were some dishes offered that remind diners of the food that the average Thai or Chinese would eat.  I find most of the ethnic Thai and Chinese restaurants to be overly sweet, too much corn starch in the sauces and not enough brightness (acid) from their fish sauces and seasonings.

  3. Khun Thai is an old fave which I had not been to in a while.  Out with two other couples and we had a great night.  The food and the service were as excellent ad recalled.  We started with appetizers.  Our group had chicken spring rolls, curry puffs, dim sum, shrimp salad, rare tuna spring rolls and squid salad.  Everyone enjoyed these.  I had the 4 star (spiciest) squid salad.  It was truly spicy which I appreciated and it was delicious.  As an entree I had the green curry frogs legs which were very tasty and a nice change of pace.  Lightly breaded and crunchy they hit the spot.  Others in our group got the wild boar curry, chicken and basil, grilled duck, chicken with ginger, and chicken in a brown sauce.  Everyone was happy.  Capped off meal with chocolate soufflé and coffee/tea.  I didn't eat it but everyone loved it.  We sat around chatting and they didn't hustle us out.  Very welcoming and friendly.  I strongly suggest you go there!  Ample parking in back.  BYOB which is great.  Not far from Wine Library if you need wine.

  4. I really like this place.  Great whole crispy fish, good noodle dishes, good curry dishes too (shrimp massaman curry is very good).  They have this great sticky black rice wrapped in a banana leaf, and the Thai salad is very nice.  It's byob, and often crowded but usually not mobbed, so we usually get in without much of an advanced reservation.

  5. Best Thai food place in the Millburn area!  My boyfriend used to live in this neighborhood and this was by far my favorite place to go out to eat.

I've eaten here multiple times and done take out.  It's a bit pricey but not compared to other restaurants in the area I suppose.  But the atmosphere and decor inside is very nice and the staff is always friendly and attentive.

The green curry is good and definitely my favorite dish here.  My boyfriend really likes their pad thai and drunken noodle.  It's pretty standard Americanized Thai food.

  6. more like a 4.5
My dad and I love this place.
He always gets the 3 red snapper grilled and it's great.
I have had off their grill menu, the pad thai and other soup dishes and all were good.
Some items, like from the grill you are not really getting your money's worth- but if you're not too hungry it will be satisfying.
They always ask if you want souffle, I'm curious to see if it's actually good, but I've never tried.

  7. Came to this restaurant last week for dinner with a large party. The restaurant has modern decor, and is clean with a trendy atmosphere. Service was slow at first, but picked up later in the meal, but this was probably due to the size of our party.

I tried the waterfall beef and crab meat soup as appetizers. Both were good, but the crab meat soup was a bit salty. I had the drunken noodles as my entree and asked for it extra spicy. It had more meat and vegetables than noodles. It wasn't spicy, but i did get some chili sauce on the side that spiced it up a bit.

Overall, the experience was pretty average. I probably won't come back since there are better Thai spots near my house.

  8. What a pleasant lunch spot in downtown Millburn! Such a nice departure from the cafes, Italian restaurants and delis that inundate the main drag in town. It has admittedly taken me a while to dine here but my friend suggested it as a lunch spot to meet.

First, the truly outstanding service must be mentioned. The owner came over several times to freshen our tea cups with hot water. Food was fresh and served promptly without making us feel rushed.

We were the first lunch diners in the restaurant midweek around 12:30 but stragglers did find their way into the duplex location. While the decor isn't spectacular, it is worth noting that the space is bright and airy with high ceilings and lots of light from the front windows.

While we didn't sample a wide variety of menu items, what we ordered was spot on. The Tom Yum Khung soup was perfectly spicy and flavorful without being overwhelming. They were very accommodating when I asked for it to be made vegetarian style omitting the shrimp. They also were happy to oblige my friend's request for assorted steamed vegetables with plenty of bok choy and broccoli. The beef salad was superb. Bright colors, a tasty vinaigrette and a plate full of lean grilled and well seasoned beef. Yum!

And our bill was a whopping $25 which is a total bargain for the quality and portion of food.

The dinner menu looks even more enticing and I look forward to giving it a try.
