  1. I was surprised to find a new AYCE sushi place on Yelp, in Ridgefield Park, with a solid 4 stars. The sushi was of surprisingly good quality for a buffet, although the ambiance was terrible. This past weekend, the temperatures were in the single digits. It felt like the restaurant was too. It was also a bit dim and dingy, it could really use some redecorating.

Like other AYCE sushi places, your order from menu/checklist where you write what you'd like and they bring it out. The food came out slowly, but steadily. New plates of food would arrive each time they came to take our empty ones away. And they actually give you everything you order. If you order 20 pieces of sashimi, you will get 20 uniform pieces of sashimi.

The kitchen menu was good as well.

  2. It all started one Friday night when my boyfriend and I found ourselves with no plans, and a craving for a heaping amount of sashimi. He (the non-Yelper) remembered an email that I (the Yelper) forwarded to him a while back, which was one of the weekly Yelp emails (I believe it was AYCE sushi places in Jersey). We decided on Kiseki because it had great reviews and the closest place on the list (about a 30 minute drive from Jersey City).

We arrived at around 8 pm and the place was empty, save for a table of high school girls in the back. Not sure why no one was dining there but I was okay with it, because that just meant they were more attentive to us and all of our sushi needs.

We of course went with the AYCE option ($21.95 pp). To start, we ordered a seaweed salad and a kani salad. We mixed them together to try to recreate this other salad we had at a different AYCE place and it was bomb. I had to refrain from ordering more of that because I wanted to save room for the sashimi fest that was about to ensue.

I can't even remember how many pieces of sashimi I had but I definitely got my $21.95 worth. The fish tasted fresh, I left feeling full, so I was happy. Two things I would warn you about – their rolls are not that good (especially the ones involving tempura), and their sushi pieces have a lot of rice with it. So stick to the sashimi (and the kani/seaweed) salad, and you're golden. The miso soup is also pretty good.

Don't forget to save room for dessert – green tea (or vanilla, since they ran out of red bean) ice cream!

  3. Not sure how this restaurant compares to other AYCE sushi places in the area, but it seemed like they had a bit more of a variety when it came to the AYCE menu. It was $21.95 per person.

We were practically the only ones there bc it was a weekday night, so service was relatively fast and the food was fresh! Not sure if it's just me, but it felt like the # of pieces per roll was a lot… so I wasn't able to try as many rolls as I would have liked. (Not sure if they'll accommodate for that.) Service was friendly on the most part.

When we were about to pay, we had a couple of pieces left. We hadn't wasted our food and hadn't ordered that much. So, we asked if we could just take the rest to-go. Although we knew that we weren't technically allowed to do so, we just thought they would understand that we weren't trying to take advantage of the rules. We were ready to pay and weren't going to order any more. Plus, our stomachs were at a good place and we didn't want to stuff ourselves too much. The lady then pointed out that it wasn't allowed and pointed out how much each roll would have cost us if we weren't doing AYCE. She then offered to let us take the 5 (?) pieces home for $7…….. -_- As if that was a huuuuge compromise on her part. She eventually came by later to tell us it was okay to just leave without finishing all the food.

Also, I'm not sure if they individually wrap the ice cream or make it or whatever, but I also found bits of plastic in my ice cream..

Not sure if this just means I'll be a bad business owner, but in times like this, I think I would have just handed the customers a box. Win-win: I'd get to go home faster and they would leave faster. No need for hard feelings and they could potentially come back w more customers.

  4. Oh my, AYCE sushi, yes please. This quiet good size restaurant really offers some delicious made to order sushi. Came for lunch a few weeks ago and was greeted by the host and I believe owner who was really sweet. She made some small talk with us and was really friendly. It was a little empty which we enjoyed the quietness maybe two more tables of patrons.

Although they do not have tons of specialty rolls – the ones they do offer were amazing. The dragon roll was one of my favorites. They offer hand rolls, sashimi, appetizer, teriyaki & tempura dishes This place is also BYOB which is nice for date night. I definitely want to come back and try other dishes besides the AYCE sushi option.

  5. $22 for all you can eat sounds right up my alley. this menu has many salad, appetizers, and even terriyaki options. However, the actual sushi rolls are bland. theres only a hand full of special rolls and basic rolls. It seems to get you to stock up on the apps instead. There are even a few choices for dessert. Service was kinda slow even though we were the only ones in there, but the woman serving us was nice and friendly. The rolls were alright, fish wasnt the fresh ive had but it was okay.

  6. Came here for AYCE Sushi and i was very underwhelmed to say the least. The place is very dark and they still had christmas decorations up in August.
Sushi did not taste fresh.  We barely wanted to finish what we ordered. The crispy calamari was not good.
Service was decent, but I will not be back again.

  7. Pretty good sushi and sashimi. Not a huge menu for the AYCE. We were a little disappointed that they "ran" out of red clams and only had 3 uni left even though we ordered 6 pieces…2 per person…hardly being greedy.

But for the price, around $22pp, we got out sushi fix and we would be back.

There was only 1 sushi chef working and the service was a tad slow.

We kept ourselves busy with the byob.

  8. The Story: Met up with a friend I haven't seen a while for a girl date.

    Food:
I do like the SIZE of the sushi rolls – the rice to fish ratio is good. However, the food didn't really stand out for me. Yukhana in Little Ferry (no longer serving AYCE) and Arigato in Edgewater all serve better AYCE sushi.

Decor: Very nice and cozy modern design.

Price: If I remember correctly its $25 per personal for all you can eat.

Service: Service was okay. I felt like the sushi came out very slowly.

Parking & Finding the Place: Right off Main Street in Ridgefield Park by the CVS – they have a large parking lot behind them. I do not know if they own it though.
