  1. Dropped by last night to check this place out as part of the Yelp's Passport to the UES. I'm usually more of a coffee person but can also be a tea-totaller at times. I was impressed by the selection of high quality teas they have here. Over 80 varieties that come in all kinds of flavors and strengths. As Kusmi Tea is based in Russian and French backgrounds you won't  find many Japanese or Lipton teas here!

We were able to try out a variety of different teas and some were very good. Too bad the air conditioning was broke here as we would have stayed longer but drinking hot tea in the oppressive heat is no fun. Still, we hung around long enough to get an overview of their history and teas, and even made a purchase of a strawberry tea that is perfect to prepare as an iced tea. Perfect for this hot NYC weather lately! They even gave us a free can of another tea. Winning!

It's more of a retail shop so they only offer a few you can buy by the cup to grab and go. Lots of gift package varieties too for the tea lover in your life. Worth a visit if in the area and a bit cheaper than Teavana we noticed.

  2. Unfortunately for us, the day we came here the AC was broken.  Drinking hot tea with no AC really sucks and uncomfortable.  However, this place gets 4 stars for the quality of their earl grey teas.  I didn't get a chance to try the others but this place is a more traditional tea place.  You can purchase them already in a tea bag or just the leaves themselves.  As for the Yelp's passport event, one of the employees was extremely thorough in explaining their product and that made the overall experience much more enjoyable.  They also gave us a lot of samples to try  and we did the brewing.  The strength of the tea was definitely there as well as the translation of the aroma into the tea.  There is no where to sit down in this place or to hang out so you just come in here, buy your stuff, and leave.  Decor is alright, trendy but there are so many colors going on with different packaging that everything seems melded.

I'd recommend this place for tea connaisseur and a great place to get gifts.

  3. Kusmi was yet another serendipitous find. On a blustery autumn afternoon while strolling around the UES I needed a cup of tea to stop the cold front that was spreading throughout my body. Instantly.

I dared frostbite by degloving my hand in order to use the Yelp app to put in 'tea' and see what popped up nearby. Or was it 'cafe'? I was delirious. Pardon me. Either way, Kusmi was highly rated and the closest place that was open.

When I opened the doors I almost screamed. A tea shop! Why does this always happen to me? It's not a cafe. However, it is a gallery of a tea shop, with white walls and colorful tins lining the entire store.  I told the shopkeeper of hunt for a cup of tea, and she let me pour some tea from her samovar and I loved what I tasted. Kusmi (or Kiss Me, as I like to call it), mainly sells Russian teas, which I love because they are black, floral, and most importantly, caffeinated. They sell a sample set containing five loose-leaf tins of their popular Russian teas for an incredibly reasonable price-around twenty dollars.

Here in the Bay Area I've purchased their teas at Bi-Rite Grocery, so I'm continuing my romance with them, especially their Troika tea, which is a delicious with its notes of bergamot and mandarin.

I'm pleased that I was sent here. Being saved from freezing and finding a fantastic tea was a five star experience.

  4. I discovered Kusmi Tea at a Parisian grocery store. I'm not the biggest fan of tea, but love their teas. The packaging is excellent. The shop is very pretty. It's expensive, but worth it.

  5. I bought an Amazon Local deal for this place, which came at a perfect time because I was looking for tea for Christmas presents.  I would have gone to the usual Harney and Sons or David's Tea, but this place seemed intriguing.

At first I was a little disappointed at the selection they had, and then I noticed the counter with all of the teas for you to smell – and then I found love.  Rose green tea… my two favorite things in one.  Flew it back to Atlanta and finally tried it – fresh, strong, fragrant tea at it's best!

I also got a green tea sampler gift pack as gifts – 5 small tin samplers for $23.95.

Thanks to Amazon, I'm sold!  I may even decide I want to pay full price for this stuff (not cheap).
