Ate here a couple of times but this last time got me. I had the garlic shrimp which they call "Camarones al ajillo." Holy Moly. That was BEYOND delicious. Perfect seasoning. Just perfect. Will definitely go back for more.
My boyfriend has eaten several of their dishes. Today he had mangu but the last time he had "chicharrón de pollo." Another yummy moment. This is one of his favorite places to go out. Lucky me.

I perked up on hearing this. But, apparently this expression of love is extended to every regular – and, there are plenty of them at La Brisa. It is that kind of restaurant where regulars have been going for years – 40 years to be precise.
I am surprised by the paucity of yelp reviews, though. I discovered it purely by chance. Browsing yelp one evening late at work, I saw a glowing review of La Brisa (amusingly the review's been filtered since!!). I went to the restaurant's yelp page to find only 4 other reviews! Something told me to explore further, and on pure instinct, I got up and took the 7 Train to Corona. It turned out to be one of my best decisions this summer.
The Dominican food is consistently fantastic. They start you off with a complimentary salad (after inquiring, "You want it with onions?"), and soon your piping hot entrée is before you. The first time I tried the Pechuga de Pollo Salteado (chicken breast with onion and pepper), and it was positively delicious (5 stars!). The next time it was the Chicharron de pollo sin hueso (Dominican Style Fried Chicken boneless) which was one of the juiciest fried chicken I've had – different from another excellent version at one of my favorite restaurants (Rincon Criollo), but no less worthy. This was followed by their signature Pechuga de Pollo ala Brisa (fried and breaded chicken with peppers), and on my last visit I had the Camarones Enchilados, which even though the menu describes as Shrimp in hot sauce are basically shrimp in red sauce. The earnest waitress described it as such to me: "It's shrimp in red sauce. If you want it hot, I can give you Tabasco sauce" 🙂 I liked it nevertheless, despite my preference for spicy food.
Even though, the entrees have been excellent, what catapults La Brisa into 5 star territory is their Tres Leches cake. Perhaps the best I've had in the city. On a weekday, it probably ranks at 4 stars, but on the weekends with more turnover, it would rate at 5+ stars. People have different preferences in Tres Leches – mine is that the mixture of milks so saturates the cake that the cake treads the boundary between liquid and solid completely liquefying in one's month and thus taking "melt in the mouth" to its logical and ultimate culmination. You should come here simply for the Tres Leches. I've liked it so much that I debated whether this version had the textural delicacy of the Indian Ras Malai – one of my favorite desserts. I can't give it higher praise.
Given my emotional reserve, I don't declare my love often – but in La Brisa's case it merits a shouting from the rooftops, and in small measure: a 5 star rating. Just go!
Definitely not the best. The oxtail soup smelled old. Like old meat. I was not a fan. The baked chicken was dry, rice and beans, flavorless. The service was terrible. We had to flag down the waitress, and she took forever for our order. She was too busy talking to the bartender. For a night that wasn't even busy, come on now. Definitely skip this place. It's not worth your time or money.
We were in Queens for my daughter's Taekwon Do tournament and this restaurant was not only near our hotel, but they delivered, yay! Before finding out they delivered, I'd found them using my Yelp app and being Puerto Rican and seeing amazing reviews, I really wanted to try their food.
We ordered several items and even delivered everything was SO DELICIOUS. The tostones (green plantains) which could have suffered from delivery were excellent. I couldn't stop munching on them! I ordered the mofongo de cerdo which was risky because of all the hispanic places I've ever tried, only one other time have I really enjoyed someone's mofongo as much as my mom's. It was divine. So very delicious my mouth is salivating as I type this!! Oh to have a place near Charleston that cooks Hispanic food this good! (besides my mom's house of course). My mom had the steak and onions and my daughter ordered the chicken breast a la brisa. Everyone enjoyed their food but my mom LOVED my daughter's dish!
We also ordered dessert. We all got the tres leche because of it being mentioned in the reviews. Let me tell you… oh lawd… so, so good. My mom & daughter gobbled theirs down. I will say that I enjoyed mine better without the frosting which is odd because I'm never the "too sweet" type of person but it was so good I dream of eating another tres leche as good one day. YUM!!!
I have been here on two separate occasions with friends and was not disappointed. I had the BBQ chicken one time, and the steak with onions another time. They were both delicious and fresh along with the rice, red beans and the plantains. My friends enjoyed there entrees very much as well
They do a great job on presentation and the restaurant is very welcoming with good decor. This is a well established Dominican restaurant is Corona Queens.
The one issue was the waitresses did not speak that much English; luckily I know how to speak enough Spanish to order. In conclusion this is a nice restaurant to check out.
This place has the best Dominican food in Queens. I often have the Pollo al ajillo (garlic chicken), bistec encebollado (steak with onions), carne frita (fried steak) and Chicharron de pollo (fried chicken)
I never ate something here that I didn't like.
I came here because it was recommended by a co-worker for their mofongo. And I missed the mofongo I had when I was in Puerto Rico, so I decided to give this place a try. The mofongo was just mofongo. My only complaint was the stew they gave you was a limited portion. So I ended up just chowing down dry mofongo. I also ordered the steak and onions which was average. The only spot light was the oxtail.
If you don't speak Spanish, just make sure you do your research on the menu because your server won't be able to communicate with you.
i go here strictly for the oxtail. i love having spanish style oxtail but some restaurants only make it on certain days so la brisa it is all the time. also i love the garlic sauce here. it's so tasty. i'm a fan and will continue to go again.
note: the service can be quite slow some times but the food makes up for it. and also my standards for spanish restaurants are a little lower then usual.
