  1. Let me start by saying that this is my most frequented restaurant in New York.

There is a reason.  This place is a GEM.  The lunch menu is amazing.  I haven't even looked at the New Dinner Menu yet.  Lunch has all sorts of exciting entrees and appetizers.  Lobster Bisque.  My guests swear by it on Wednesdays, which is when for lunch you can have it.  Ever have Pizza with skirt steak and sausages.  It is pretty serious.

The staff is FANTASTIC.  SERIOUSLY…FANTASTIC…I don't know them, I don't really have any small talk with them but every meal, they are amazing.

Walking distance from my apartment, this place made buying my apartment worth it.

  2. I just ordered from them and I was quite satisfied. The portions are very generous and the skirt steak in particular was succulent. My friend tried the blood sausage and he liked it, saying that it was some of the best he ever had. He is a blood sausage fanatic so I trust his opinion. I was pleasantly surprised with the gaucho Pie which is in actuality an empanada. The crust and filling were above any of the empanadas from the area and were clearly freshly made with good ingredients. Overall it was a very nice meal and I look forward to my next visit. I gave four stars because it was ever so slightly more expensive than expected but still very fair for what you get. Highly recommended.

  3. I was craving some meat and we'd heard this place was awesome so we went to La Cabana and this place is amazing. I order skirt steak that was the length from the tip of my fingers to my elbow. It was huge!! I got three meals out of. We also had the Empanadas are AMAZING. I ordered beef and it melted in my mouth.

The service is awesome. The prices are fair. There is only street parking which can be a little tough to find but if you're patient enough something will come available. They have a good selection of wine but only serve the house wine in a glass.

This is a must try in Queens!!

  4. I came here last weekend to celebrate my father's birthday. My brother had chosen this place as it had gotten good reviews online. Our verdict? Well, we've had better. To preface my review, I should probably mention that I was born in Argentina and my siblings and I had all lived there until the late 80s. We've had good Argentine food before and this place was just kind of lacking.

I no longer eat meat, so I can't attest for the taste of the parilla. Seems like my family had enjoyed it, though, so that's good. I ordered the gnocchi, which was really really not good. Thankfully, the sides were decent and the chimichurri was up to par. My father also wanted to order matambre for the table, but everybody at our party admitted that it was pretty bland. Also, my brother-in-law and my boyfriend shared a 28 oz steak, which had some large fatty inedible chunks in it. Yuck.

I suppose their highlights would be their grilled meats, of which I couldn't partake in. I wouldn't recommend this place for vegetarians such as myself, but I also suppose that's kind of silly since this is a steakhouse, after all. At least the service was good. I'd really give this place 2.5 stars instead of 3, but the fact that my father did enjoy his meal gives this place a full 3 stars instead (and also the fact that, ya know, you can't give 0.5 star ratings for places on Yelp).

  5. Starting the new year with a bang. I'm giving La Cabana a solid 5 stars. The meats, chicken, and pork are all nicely grilled. Also, for the value of the mixed platter of combination of meats ($43), it's well worth the price! There's also a meats only platter for about $10 dollars more. The service here is very reputable. Top notch service from start to finish. Our server Christian made sure our glass was never empty. The moment it was half full, he'll swing by and refill us with their great tasting sangria.

Skirt Steak – Superb! I ordered mine in medium. Tender and juicy. It was not under or overcooked. It was perfect! Skip the steak sauce, I went for their signature sauce. I couldn't quite tell what it was but I think it consisted of olive oil, either lime or lemon juice with some greens, maybe fresh parsley.

Short Rib – Thick cut and very juicy. I'm generally use to thinly sliced short ribs from Korean BBQ restaurants. Those are much leaner and easier to chew. At La Cabana, it's a nice thick cut with bone. Some parts are a little too fatty but overall, it was still very enjoyable.

Chorizo – Not bad. Nothing really special here. Not the biggest hit but certainly still delicious.

Blood Sausage – Now this is was the hidden gem of the platter. The blood sausage was nice and full of great flavors. I loved the bits of cartilage-like texture in each bite. It wasn't too gummy or pasty. It's very good and I highly recommend trying it.

Pork neck – Very nice crispy texture. The crispy edges tasted similar to a chicharone.

Chicken – The chicken was good but it was my least favorite on the platter. The meats easily outshines the chicken in this order. I saved my chicken for to-go and had it for lunch the following day.

Sangria – I'm not a huge sangria drinker but La Cabana makes a real bad ass batch of it. All of the fruit flavors are there. The fruits are not soggy or old and after the first pitcher, you'll find yourself wanting more.

Verdict – Outstanding service. My sincere compliments to our server Chris. Everything from their freshly baked rolls of bread to their entrees and sides. The entire experience here was not overhyped one bit. Every expectation I had of La Cabana was spot on and I will be back for more!

  6. I wanted to go here several months ago to check out the lunch special but have never actually been off from work on a weekday and able to go. I had told my husband about it and promptly forgot. When we returned in the early afternoon from vacation, he reminded me so we went directly there after getting into Queens.
I got the skirt steak with the chicken. The chicken sucked but the skirt steak totally made up for it. It was so tender and juicy. My husband got the skirt steak with sausage and the sausage was actually really good.
I should have gotten the broccoli but got the mashed potatoes instead. The mashed potatoes were really good but I got broccoli envy when I saw the large pieces of fresh broccoli that looked perfectly steamed and still a bit crunchy being delivered to the table near us.
The house red that came with dinner was generously poured and not fancy but went great with the steak.
I will definitely be going back for dinner especially since their white sangria looks so good!

  7. OMG, a meat eater's delight! My boyfriend took me to this steakhouse for my birthday. We shared a chicken empanada, roasted red peppers, the mixed grill beef with a side of Valentino mash potatoes and sautéed broccoli. The appetizers (empanada and roasted red peppers) were nothing special, but the steak….The mixed grill beef (for 2 people) included short ribs, sirloin steaks and and skirt steaks for $55. My favorite was the skirt steaks. It was cooked just right and had good flavor. Adding the chimichurri sauce just made it even better. The sirloin steaks were overcooked and on the dry side. The short ribs were good too, but not that lean. The broccoli was fresh and crisp; it had a slight hint of garlic. The mashed potatoes was very good. By the end of dinner, my boyfriend and I were so stuffed and we still had lots of steak leftover!

I will definitely be coming back here and bringing reinforcements!

  8. Stopped by for dinner on a Friday night in the Jackson Heights area.  Lovely restaurant!

Highlights of the meal included a pitcher of white sangria (whole pitcher is only $20!), beef tongue appetizer, skirt steak with valentino style mashed potatoes, and short ribs with steamed broccoli.

Also ordered a brick oven pizza, Quattro Stagione, which has heart of artichoke, mushroom, ham, and black olives.  Bf and I wholeheartedly agree that all of the ingredients in the pizza were very fresh (I even ate the olives… and I don't like olives!).  The problem was the execution of the pizza.  The dough was bit too salty (considering the saltiness of the ham and the cheese).  Also, the dough was bit too thick, had too much cheese, and the dough needed to be more charred.  A little bit disappointed but the rest of the meal was perfect.

I would have rated this restaurant as 5 stars for food & atmosphere, but docked 1 point for the pizza.
