  1. Cash only!

Love this pasta place! It's so cute, affordable and you kind of don't expect it to be on 3rd Ave. I love coming here on a warm day because they'll leave one of the walls/large door facing the street open which let's you eat while enjoying a nice breeze.

My favorite go to pasta is the Orecchiette All' Arrabbiata (ear-shaped pasta in a spicy tomato sauce with prosciutto, onion and chili pepper) because I'm obsessed with spicy tomato sauce.

  2. Came here with a friend after she claimed that there was this really good pasta place nearby Baruch College and I took her word for it. The venue itself was pretty small but they say that it's the hole-in-the-walls that serves up some of the best food. And boy, they were right!

The menu is pretty simple. Pick your sauce and pick your kind of pasta. You can also mix and match sauces, so that's a big plus! I forgot what kind of pasta and sauce I ordered lol but it was heavenly. It tasted really homemade and the cheese melted onto the sauce perfectly. The restaurant offered a good amount of seats and breadsticks to accommodate your pasta.

Would I come back? Yes! Maybe one day after class. The service was also extremely nice and he helpfully explained the ordering process to us.

  3. Cute casual place to stop in for a nice less fancy more yummy dinner.

My boyfriend and I were on our way to the trader to get stuff for dinner but instead opted for paying someone else to cook our pasta.

The menu is very extensive but pretty much oooooonly pasta… All pasta dishes come with a side salad, a phat bread roll and in a huge portion.

Also they have a $20/bottle special for wine.

The pasta itself was great! The service was really nice and quick, and overall the atmosphere was more causal than a restaurant… Aka don't expect a hot date atmosphere.

  4. Have to give this place a shout out because it is just awesome. How I have lived in Gramercy for 4 years and have never been to Lamarcapasta now blows my mind.

In a humble setting with very simple, basic design, Lamarcapasta serves up delicious fresh pasta with amazing sauces, and garnished with fabulous cheese they are so well known for. Upon coming for dinner on a Wednesday night to fulfill a pasta craving, we were very pleased with our experience. Pastas cost $16 for dinner, and you can mix and match pasta and sauces if you so desire. For this price you are also greeted with a large, warm roll with butter and a generous salad. All bottles of wine are $20, and there is a great selection! We're were very pleased with the Sangiovese straight from Italy!

The Gnocchi Or Chitarrucci Aurora was out of this world, and the Tortellini Bolognese was also delicious! Fresh pastas and cheese are available for purchase at the cheese store next door.

Note: CASH ONLY and they are only open Monday – Friday.

  5. Great little Italian spot. We were lucky and able to get a table for four at 8:30 on a Friday.
The salad that was brought out was a nice surprise – light and crisp (cucumbers, green bens, mozzarella, celery and Lima beans in a light Italian-like sauce).
We all liked our respective meals. I had the Porcini ravioli, which is only served on Thursdays and Fridays.  I'm not sure what was in the sauce but it had a great flavor and wasn't overly "mushroomy."
My friends enjoyed the chicken parmigiana and vegetarian lasagna. All in all, a cozy, friendly, quite tasty spot.
The ONLY downside was that they closed at 10 so we were kind of ushered out – but in a very friendly way.

  6. This place did not live up to its reviews on here for me. Although it's great how inexpensive it is (you'll have dinner and be completely full for under $17), the food was very bland and nothing special in my opinion. For dinner, you receive a salad and very large amount of bread with each meal. I got the Tagliatelle Ai Spinaci, and it was enormous but really nothing more than noodles with sauce. It had very little taste and could've easily used some vegetables, meat, cheese, spices, etc. anything to make it a little more exciting. The salad, however, was good.

The atmosphere is similar to a diner – it's a place where you come in quickly and can sit wherever. The service was not so great and we had to flag our waitress down for the check/to pick up our plates.

  7. This review is for their take out pastas!  I am a huge fan of this place even though I hate carbs!

First off, this place is separated into two "stores".  The one with the take out pasta is CASH ONLY and there is a small seating area.  The one with the big seating area accepts both cash and credit!

They have 8 different types of sauce for your pasta: Marinara, Filletto, Ciociara, Bolognese, Aurora, Arrabbiata and Creamy Pesto.  My GO TO is the Aurora – a tomato cream sauce with vodka topped with smoked mozzarella.  I cannot begin to rave about this sauce!  It is rich and creamy and the smoked mozzarella is the PERFECT pairing for this sauce!  I usually get this with the penne and it's BOMB!

There are two to go container size.  I usually get the large which is $7.50 pretax $8.17 post tax.  This is definitely a reasonable and affordable price since it's located in the city!  I HIGHLY recommend this place for lunch or if you're by the area!

  8. Solid place but nothing extraordinary.

They give you a huge portion of pasta with bread and salad for $16, which i think is reasonable. The pasta is very simple. You can choose any type of pasta with any sauce. I got the orecchiette with prosciutto and spicy arrabiatta sauce. Boyfriend got the linguine with vodka sauce.

Noodles were very soft, not al dente as I usually like them. My spicy sauce was pretty good, but I definitely liked the aurora sauce much better. It had a rich, even meaty, taste. Bread is a little hard, and salad was your typical salad.

I think this restaurant is very cute and simple. I'd go back sometime to try some of their other sauces, but I'm more interested in going to their next door cheese shop (I hear it's cheaper and allow you to pick 2 sauces). Unfortunately they're not open on weekends 🙁 but overall I think this is a decent neighborhood spot for a casual meal.
