  1. Much like Joey Tribbiani, I love sandwiches of all kinds. Lamazou has officially become my go-to for high quality deli sandwiches with terrific meats and cheeses. No gimmicky stuff here or any super weird ingredients (though I like those sometimes as well). We're talking classic prosciutto, salami, fresh mozzarella, that sort of thing.

My all-time favorite is the Lamoretti, which comes with roast beef, cheddar, and cornichons. Definitely not something I'd think to order if not for the many rave Yelp reviews, but so glad my fellow yelpers guided me to this heavenly sandwich. It's piled high with meat and cheese, so if you're not starving a half order would be more than enough.

Get here early because like most popular lunch spots in the area, lines will form out the door at rush hour. And get ready for a sublime sandwich experience!

  2. The cheeses and cold cuts are really fresh and tasty. However i must say my sandwich was a bit plain that i had to go through my fridge to try and get something to make it have more taste. My boyfriend got the buffalo chicken sandwich and really liked it. Note: they don't heat up sandwiches!! I really wanted my cheese to be melted and they wouldn't do it

  3. I'd been hearing about Lamazou for years, and finally had some free time during lunch to take a walk. It was surprisingly empty when I went.

I ordered the full order of the Smart Duck sandwich ($13.05 all told).

Their ciabatta bread wasn't the greatest, but the duck and the melted brie were deeelicious.

Though in hindsight, I really should've ordered two kinds of half sandwiches instead, since it comes out to roughly the same price.

    Next time!

  4. Doesn't get any better than the best cured meats, aged cheeses, chewy bread, and extra virgin olive oil in an old-school Italian sandwich doled out by a very lovely couple in a charming little deli called Lamazou.

They have unique bread. It can be dry and crusty and you might have to chewwww through it, but it adds texture to the sandwich and makes you slow down. Enjoy your food. If you're not a fan of horseradish be careful because they add a lot (tell them to put a little). In the colder months, a half soup-half sandwich combo is wonderful; their soups are homemade and made daily. Kale soups, hearty mushroom  are lovely and in November I had a rich Pumpkin soup with a Z'Tuna. It was such a satisfying meal. Compared to Hale and Hearty, they give more soup for a smaller price.

Surrounding the deli is a hodgepodge of "delicacies around the world"; Turkish delight, a vast array of San Pellegrino flavors, assorted biscuits/crackers, imported extra virgin olive oil, British Ribena drink, truffle oil, French cookies, teas, coffees and so much more..

    SAMMICHES:

Lamoretti – You can't go wrong with Roast beef. The cheese is a very soft cheddar and the cornichons add a great pop. One of my favorites.

Smart Duck – A crowdpleaser here and I agree its a great sandwich. BUT, Don't get this if you're not familiar with the texture of Brie, it can be off-putting for some. Ask for a sample if you've never had it. It's an extremely creamy flowing cheese and they cut a thick slice of it. And no, it doesn't make you smarter.

Z'Tuna – They like to pair each sandwich with some sort of sour condiment (horseradisch, spicy mustard, cornishons). In the Z'Tuna, they pair it with Harissa. It's a bold red hot chilli paste but it's not too spicy. This is a favorite of mine.

Flaminco – This uses imported Spanish Serrano ham. The texture of the ham is unbelievable. Extremely delicate but it carries an intense smoky flavor. Manchego makes it a sharp and bold sandwich

The couple who run the place are extremely warm. In particular, the nice old man who rings you up could be the most heartfelt man in New York. This place is a true gem in Murray Hill.

  5. I don't  normally eat meat, and when I do it's usually disappointing, it is not worth an animal having a sore toe, let alone its head chopped off.  The Smart Duck (#20),Smoked Breast of Duck with Brie & Cornichons on ciabatta was worthy of the impressive sacrifice by the duck.  The staff were delightful too.  All my concerns/dislike of "Pisillo Italian Panini" don't apply here, because I will happily eat the same huge Lamazou sandwich in pieces throughout the day.

  6. I come here for lunch once in a while. You can never go wrong with their sandwiches. Also, the staff here is super nice and accommodating.

I usually get the Lamazou favorite which comes with prosciutto (yummy), mozzarella, and roasted red peppers on a baguette.

  7. My friends rave about this place so I finally decided to give it a try. It's a little hole in the wall with barely enough room to walk by another person. It's truly an old school deli.

I got the bohemian on the wheat bread and it was so fresh and tasty. The grilled vegetables were incredible, and I'm picky about those. I hate when they're over cooked, or soggy. Neither was the case here!

The only thing I wasn't expecting was how thick the bread was. My friend says she usually gets hers on focaccia bread so I'll have to try that next time.

  8. If you're looking for a quick, quality sandwhich this is the place to go!!!!! The menu is robust including pre made sandwich options and build your own.

You have the option to have full or half sandwiches which is nice when you're hungry enough for a snack but not the whole thing.

The sandwiches are prepared fast giving you ample time to eat before heading back to work, just note that there's no seating but you can definitely pull a walk and eat situation with no mess!!!
