  1. This is boyfriend's and my favorite date spot! We just adore this little tapas place! Every time we come, they have somethings special and different for us (besides the original menu).
Calamari is a must!!! As well as sangrias!

  2. A Spanish restaurant sucking the joy out of food? Can you imagine!

First mistake: coming back here with an actual Spaniard.

Second mistake: ordering randomly, including getting a mediocre thing I'd cautioned Yelp At Large against ordering in my previous review. (FYI, the quality of bread here has not improved.)

Third mistake: not getting sloshed on sangria, probably, as the disappointment of the food was laid bare in its full glory.

I remembered Las Ramblas as a charming, "summertime evening" spot, but we were so very disappointed. The menu hasn't changed, apparently, in years.

The sardinas en escabeche were neither very tasty nor really "escabeche." For having picked through a million pinbones, the actual fish wasn't rewarding at all and just tasted dead. The jamon serrano with idiazabal was still average, with very "meh" bread. Hard as I try, I have no memory of what else we ordered.

Nothing tasted GOOD – literally nothing.

Service was strange – there was one cheerful waitress, but our server did not smile or so much as move his eyebrows when making eye contact. He just seemed angry and indifferent. He even seemed angry when we gently asked for water a second time after no water had come.

It was one of those very rare but frustrating meals where eating is like a chore, and you leave after 30 minutes because there's no point in being there anymore.

  3. Great little tapas joint in the 'village. I checked this joint out prior to catching a comedy show nearby. It sports a charming décor and has a pretty inviting vibe. Comfortable and friendly service.

They've got a good selection of different items on the menu, so this is an easy place to dress up your table with numerous types of food and go wild.

Prices are pretty reasonable. I enjoyed my time here. 🙂

  4. This place was pretty good. We hit it up at night after visiting the tattoo shop across the street. The service was probably the best part of our experience here.

We ordered a pitcher of Sangria which was delicious, but not very strong? Which seems weird.
We got the patatas bravas which were spicy but not remarkable compared to ones I've had at other tapas places.

The pallela was very good, we got the chorizo and seafood. It was cooked well and has nice flavor, also the portion size I liked a lot.

We also ordered the croquettes which were good, my friend liked them a lot.

Overall this place got the job done and was good. But there are much better tapas places.

  5. Really yummy tapas and sangria, but such a teeny tiny place! We were crammed in there. I liked the garlic shrimp and the avocado and mushroom salad special the most.

  6. this place was utterly fantastic. so here's a 5+ star bonus haiku for them…

    oh my! staff so kind,
    village tapas; such a find!
    the place to unwind…

sorry, no photos! i was too busy laughing, enjoying the company of the staff, soaking up the ambiance, admiring the efficient use of such an intimate space, and chowing down with great wine and even better food!

the staff was generous, knowledgable, accommodating, funny, fun, professional, patient, clean, and quite doting.

note to the owners: you've got a really great hardworking group! hope you are rewarding them with great pay too; they deserve it.

we practically never even saw our dirty plates, they were being whisked away as soon as we finished our last bite and quickly replaced with a new steamy tapas treat. the food service was so well paced and we never felt rushed or ignored.

the food was cooked perfectly and the cooks took great effort to be sensitive to my food restrictions. 24 hrs later and my body is still very happy! the cooks were very careful to accommodate my needs.

bonus points: our wait staff was very lgbtq+ friendly! yes yes i know it is the west village but that doesn't necessarily guarantee open-minded & respectful queer/trans positive staff!!

this was my first tapas experience for my friend and it was perfect. he really enjoyed himself and we had a quintessential nyc nightlife experience for his bday! yays! hope the wait staff reads this and smiles. thanks for making our night so nice 🙂

  7. Really good tapas place! One of the best ones I've had in NYC. Compared to my other favorites (Salinas, Andanada), this place is more casual and reminiscent of actual tapas bars you'd find in Spain. Restaurant is small and intimate, great for date night but probably not large groups.

My boyfriend and I shared the white pomegranate berry sangria which was so delicious! Not very strong in alcohol, but very refreshing and I loved the juicy blackberries in the pitcher. Only $25 for a pitcher!

    For tapas, we ordered:

Tortilla espanola – awesome. Much more potato than egg, though. The sauce on top is creamy, rich, and perfect with the tortilla.

Scallops special – our favorite! Scallops were super soft, juicy, and well seasoned.

Ensalada – we got the one with orange slices. This was alright. Too sweet and orangey; tasted more like dessert than a salad.

Patatas bravas – I thought this was okay, but my boyfriend loved it. The potatoes were crispy on the outside and seasoned generously with a spicy powder.

Albondigas – really enjoyed this. Meatballs were super flavorful and covered in this delicious herby sauce. I actually loved the bed of crunchy dried greens that it came on.

The 5 tapas were a perfect amount (maybe even leaning towards too much) for the two of us, though we did come only moderately hungry.

Overall, the experience here was great and I would recommend Las Ramblas to anyone who loves traditional Spanish tapas.

  8. By far my favorite tapas place in the city.  Whenever I try a new tapas place, I instinctively compare it to Las Ramblas.  Their menu is extensive and no matter what you choose, you'll be pleased.  I went to dinner with a friend and we each ordered 2 plates each ($10-11) and a pitcher of sangria($25).  The pitcher of sangria is definitely the better deal than the glass, you get way more.  The service was great and friendly and the food was cooked to perfection.  The only downfall to Las Ramblas is the size. There aren't many tables and they don't take reservations.  On a Monday night at 6pm, I walked right in.  I have also gone on a Friday night at 8pm and had a short wait.  Love this place and can't wait to be back
