  1. Chipotle sauce, fried chicken, candied yams, catfish, mac and cheese are all amazing and a must try. They used to have oxtails that were amazing as well but all the recent times I have dined here they said it was only a special that of course wasn't available the day I came. Sometimes they don't have certain dishes on the menu available on certain days which sucks. But service is always good and never had to wait a crazy long time for my food to come.

  2. Had a very nice lunch here overall. When we arrived, my family and I were overwhelmed by the smell of chocolate. For a moment I thought the restaurant had changed and was now a bakery, but I was wrong. And unfortunately, even by the end of our meal, I was still nauseated by the smell of chocolate.

Anyway, I had the fried chicken salad with ranch. I though the salad part was a little small, but there was so much chicken that I was stuffed. And I was happy to see that their croutons were actually made out of their cornbread muffins. And let me tell you, their cornbread muffins ate good,

Mom got tuna salad and it tasted fine to me. Nothing special but it was on the lunch menu. Dad got a burger that he said was good. Guess I'll take his word on it.

Service was fine. The woman we had was nice but a little slow. Like we were almost done eating when she remembered to bring us extra napkins. Oh well. What annoyed me was, I'm not sure if she another server or actually the owner but she was gabbing on her phone and then yelling to the kitchen from the front of the restaurant. Rude.

  3. Three and a half stars. Uh oh guys, we've slipped an entire star.

Same trio as last time dined- MIL, husband and I.

The food is still solid but service needs some help. We went in around 3p on a Saturday. There were only three other tables with diners- a three top, a double and a solo, with the last two having already received their food. It took us two hours start to finish. There was one poor dude as the waiter and another older dude bussing and pouring water. We probably would have walked had we not remembered how yummy the food had been.

The sweet tea is defective….seriously.  It's fermented or something.  In my last review I noted that it didn't taste fresh and, well, it tasted worse this time.

Husband got ribs this time. He didn't like them but I think he was just sour because we had been sitting for so long. They weren't terrible. I wouldn't get them again though.

The yams are delicious. I think I wrote that last time but it warrants repeating.

I got the fried catfish and it was perfectly cooked, moist and flavorful.

We got repeats of everything else I mentioned in my first review and it all remained solid. No dessert this time because our patience was tapped out. It would have helped if anyone working today had a personality but apparently they all had off…

If you have nothing else to do and feel like sitting around for a couple hours, by all means, this is your joint. The food is good. I just needed a coloring book or something….

  4. The hospitality is UNREAL!  If this was Hawaii, these employee's and owner sure knows the true meaning of Aloha.  Fried chicken, collard greens, catfish, are all great!  Their BBQ pork is awesome!  I would have to recommend the Sunday brunch buffet!!!

  5. This place was just ok…. I would rate it more of a 2 1/2  star establishment. The service was fine, unfortunately the food was not to my expectations.

I know southern cuisine, since that's the makeup of half my family, so when I go to an establishment selling southern food, I have certain expectations.

I had the shrimps and grits with no bacon or green peppers. When my order came out about 45 minutes later, it lacked a lot of flavor and had no onions or red peppers (I didn't ask them to omit that)….

My cousin and his friend's meal was more flavorful  (he had the blackened tilapia over Quinoa, I tried some of his), his friend had the turkey wings, she said it tasted good.

Would I come back again, I not sure but it definitely won't be a place I'll be anxious to return to anytime soon.

  6. I've been here a couple of times now, this review is for my most recent experience.
We had purchased a Groupon months back that was about to expire. We came here on a Saturday night after a long day of shopping for furniture. We were told there was an hour long wait, so we decided we would try to make other arrangements. While we were outside trying to get a table elsewhere the hostess came out and said that they actually had a table available right now. Odd.
The service was pretty slow. We did not see much of our server while we were there. We ordered a couple of mixed drinks that were good, though very pricey. I got the chicken and waffles and she had the half rack of ribs. Everything was very good. The cornbread wasn't spectacular, but better than I could ever hope to make. I paid an extra $.25 for cajun seasoning on my fries, which seemed pretty much absent. The fries were still good without it, but don't charge extra, even a quarter, for a seasoning you will only hint at. The chicken was a good, well-cooked chicken breast, and the waffle was pretty standard, Belgian waffle. I enjoyed my entree and she loved her ribs.
It took us a while to get our check when we were ready for it, but we were soon out the door.
I will probably come back if I'm in the area again and want some decent southern food, but that might not be for a while now.

  7. I've been scoping this place out for a minute and I finally made it. I love the ambience of the restaurant.  Very homely and they play old school blues and jazz creating a happy, relaxing vibe.

The food is great! First let's talk about the delicious sides I had: The collard greens were so flavorful; The mac & cheese was so right; The yams were perfect; and even the potato salad was great. My fried chicken was crispy and seasoned well, just a little dry. My friend ordered the glazed cornish hen and it was soooooo good. Can't forget about the amazing cornbread!

The staff is nice but the service could use some work. Overall it's a nice place with good food and I would return.

  8. I wish I could give this place 3 1/2 stars because it isn't 3 and I wish it could be a 4 or 5.

As everyone said the waits for food here are beyond ridiculous but on the bright side if you want a place where you can have longgggggg conversations with friends and aren't in a rush this is the place for you. I went with a friend and about a week after he went he texted me at 10am and said do you want to go to LL Dent in an hour if we get there at 11am, we should be finished by 8pm with dinner. It's seriously that bad, they need to work on that. I'm all for cooking to order but come on lol.

The cornbread they put on the table was good and possibility a little dry but i'm not a connoisseur of cornbread but I needed to add some butter.

We ordered a appetizer of wings and they were delicious, you can pick some side sauces and there was one called sweet jesus or something to that effect and it was something I would drink.

We ordered 1/2 fried chickens with all different types of sides and the fried chicken was up there with one of the best I've ever had. The mac and cheese is lacking, Velveeta and Kraft do it better.
