“Plus, most orders are for pick up / delivery so you can dine in almost complete solitude, at least at around 6pm on a Friday night.”

“I've been here twice for the lunch specials, and I have been blown away both times.”

“I recommend it as the premiere sushi spot in the kips bay/murray hill area.”

  1. Rotating sushi–yes please! This sushi joint will make you feel like you've stepped into a sushi restaurant in Tokyo. Not super A quality fish however, its worth your money. The food is pretty good and they have daily specials.

  2. Great casual sushi spot in Murray Hill. Very small with about 6 tables and 4 seats at the sushi bar.

Sushi is quality and really fresh. Can't beat the lunch special, $10 for 2 rolls & soup or salad. Takeout is really fast too. Service is great and the place is clean!

  3. I live in the east village and have been looking for a new regular sushi spot since my old one got taken over by new (below par) management. The quality of food went down and so I decided to have dinner here w my husband. I know this place is good from doing takeout lunches at work. Quick efficient service, big tasty rolls, and yummy sake! Will be coming here on the regular!

  4. Finally got a chance to dine in since I usually order delivery. Their lunch special is awesome. I ordered 2 rolls, salmon avocado and mango shrimp that comes with either soup or salad. The salad was very fresh and yummy. The sushi was also very delicious and the salmon was fresh. For dessert my friend and I ordered vanilla fried ice cream. I LOVE their fried ice cream, seriously my favorite place for fried iced cream. So save room for it!! It's a must try. Overall I love this spot whenever I'm craving sushi or fried ice cream.

  5. Nice surprise. Walked in without checking reviews and whatnot and expected a typical takeout sushi experience. Maguro exceeded expectations: the fish is good and the staff eager to please and convert return customers for what is essentially a by-the-numbers neighborhood sushi joint.

The hostess brought over a small crab salad on the house–a nice touch. We proceeded to order up an udon (for the SO) and some sushi and rolls for yours truly. No complaints whatsoever–nice portions, quality sushi, and easy-to-swallow prices.

A well-kept little Kips Bay secret.

  6. Solid Japanese food for the price! I order delivery from here for lunch often during the week! Their lunch specials are a steal!

I usually get the chicken katsu lunch bento box for 8.95! Comes with a generous portion of chicken katsu, 6-piece California roll, rice, miso soup, and small salad! Super filling and yummy.

Their rolls are pretty good too- usually hits the spot when I'm craving Japanese food at odd hours. My favorite rolls are their crispy spicy tuna roll and maguro roll. You can also never go wrong with their spider roll!

  7. I got my food to go so I can't comment on the service but this is a pretty little restaurant and the sushi was nice and fresh and reasonably priced! Great little neighborhood place!

  8. Walked in here for lunch with a friend and was quickly seated.  They have a decent lunch menu with a variety of sushi combos.  My friend had the sashimi lunch and I choose the 3 roll set – sweet potato tempura, mango shrimp and spicy tuna.  The sushi was good, but not anything crazy.  My friend did comment she could tell the salmon sashimi was more fresh than the rest.  Nevertheless, still good value for a New York lunch and easy to pop in if you work close by.  Overall 3.5 experience.
