Markt

“Have been going to Markt ever since it was at it's original on 14th & 9th in the Meatpacking District (the Apple store is where the original location of Markt is).”

“Steamed mussels (good, but not as good as the mussels i've had at August) in white wine and pate to follow, along with a round of Duvels.”

“Though I was really tempted to get something much more Belgian than Eggs Benedict (like mussels or the steak tartare), Sunday brunch rules prevailed, and I got my 5 pm hollandais.”

  1. Visited Mrkt for the first time and what a totally awesome place. Out brunching with some new and old friends and this place was recommended since my friend knows the manager. The manager is a totally awesome guy and the service was great and the waitress attentive. There is nothing negative about this place so I highly recommend it.

I ordered the mussels since this place is known for heir mussels and I'm a huge lover so match made in heaven. I started off with a mimosa and ramped up afterwards with a Rye Old Fashioned which was strong and tasty.

Had a great time with new and old friends, amazing food & drinks so definitely try this place out. I'll definitely be back.

  2. Delicious! I came here with some friends and found a great selection of unique beers. I was very excited to try a few. I ordered the ahi steak. It was great. I ate everything on the plate…. EVERYTHING!!! I would definitely recommend coming to dinner here. I also hear the weekend brunch is good too.

  3. I really only went for drinks.  The bartenders were fantastic.  They introduced themselves as soon as we sat down at the bar and the drinks kept flowing.  If I found this place sooner I would definitely would of had dinner here.  Their menu looked great, but their mussels smelled amazing.  It's I guess one of their specialties because while we were there many people ordered it at the bar plus they prepared them in a variety of different ways.  This place had a great crowd. I definitely booked marked this place to go back to.

  4. I have mixed feelings about this place. I ordered the French onion soup which warms you up and was delicious. On the other hand, the garlic and cream mussels I got were edible but definitely had a smell to them that you could tell wasn't the freshest. Granted, I should have remembered that restaurants don't usually get new shipments of seafood until Tuesday but you would think they wouldn't sell it at that lack of freshness level. It was barely edible thanks to the garlic and cream sauce but still, I expect s more.

  5. A-OK is appropriate.

After a late night out, my friend texted me in the morning if we wanted to get brunch. Because I didn't care much for a long wait, I pulled up Opentable to see what options we had: a decent place for brunch that would take reservations. Because I always pass by Markt on the way to Trader Joe's I figured this would be good.

A very decent restaurant; at 11:30 on a Sunday, the vibe was calm and the inside was pretty and spacious. I ordered the mushroom + herbs omelette which was really yummy, as was the potato patty. My friend was not a fan of the eggs benedict.

The staff are super nice (then again, it was relatively calm earlier in the morning). A healthy crowd starts to form later in the day.

  6. "Meh" is appropriate.  Nice service; but the drinks we had were not good (at least they weren't over priced).  And the food we saw around us looked sub-par.  Will not be back.

  7. I was looking for a nice little place to eat while visiting NYC on business and my coworkers suggested I check this place out. I'm so glad I did!

It really felt like I was in a different country at a little corner cafe. Even though I was sitting outside, it didn't feel like I was in New York. And that was great! Food was all amazing. I ordered the steak and fries since this was one of my favorite dishes on my travels to France. They take this staple meal and make it their own with a wonderful herb spread. It was just delicious!

Honestly, this place transported me not only out of the city, but out of the country. I had to visit the South of France all the time at my old job and with the exception of the yellow cabs zipping by outside and people speaking English, it felt like I was back there while I enjoyed my meal. This place is just perfect.

  8. Great place to have lunch outside! French dishesh. Nice attention. It'll not dissapoint you, it'll not got you crazy.
