  1. I noticed this place when it had first opened, and like a big dummy I recommended it to my family without trying it myself first.  In short, my parents wanted to kill me!!  Thank God they have a sense of humor for most things that go wrong in life.  They asked for a pina colada- waiter says "Ohhhh not today, sorry!"  What does that mean in a "Puerto Rican" restaurant??? Then they got their food and it was cold, they had to send it back- but the place was half empty, so why is the food cold!!  They asked for other puerto rican drinks and the waiter kept saying he didn't have that.  I went with my husband before I knew my family had gone.  Waiter was Colombian, which we accepted and moved on.  They didn't have a great selection of wine, but they have a huge bar. I can say that I had an alcapurria and it was pretty good.  A little greasy though.  I had steak and onions with rice and beans, and hubby had Trifongo.  It was just average, not bad.  We left there not feeling wow'd at all.  It was just blah.  I am happier going to small divey cuchifritos anywhere else!! I KNOW they aren't gonna last.

  2. This is a rather odd place. Its a great find – no doubt and I almost don't want people to find out about it. Largely because they have $3 margaritas at all hours of the day come rain or shine. It doesn't need to be happy hour to get your $3 margarita on. That's right, folks. It doesn't taste bad either. It was a better marg than I've had at places that charge double the price and specialize in them. But then this place is always empty. ALWAYS empty. And they charge quite a bit for their 'specialty cocktails' which most sound atrocious (Candy Apple Martini – Ciroc Redberry with Apple Sour Schnapps and Grenadine for only $14) Yikes. But then they have tasty latin food for pretty affordable prices. My friend had a beef empanada and she enjoyed it. I have not dined here. I've only been here once but every time I walk by on Steinway when I'm already drunk with friends the temptation to wander in for a cheap margarita is high on the list. The staff was also super friendly. I think they are going for a nightclubby feel later in the night which isn't my thing unfortunately. Actually, lies, they go for a nightclub feel in the day too. Some beat thumping music was playing while it was still sunny outside. Really this is a 3.75 rating. Some kinks to work out but its growing on me.
